To be honest I was a bit disappointed with this Stylecraft Chunky. I’ve always loved it in the DK weight but the thickness of the chunky was inconsistent. Some colours, particularly the darker shade were very thick, the lighter shades much thinner. It didn’t matter quite so much as I was making granny squares so the thickness equalled out, I would have been disappointed if it had been a garment. However, the company is good, i have used them for years, I had a ball missing, they refunded straight away and the postal service is very good. I wouldn’t be put off from using Knitting Network again, just not this chunky yarn.
Chunky, where have you been all my life! Only recently discovered this yarn but it's totes fab. Beautifully soft and easy to work with a size 5 or 6 crochet hook. Have now bought three different lots for blanket gifts. Thoroughly recommend.

Pleased with texture of this wool.
Due to arthritis in my hands I only knit in aran or chunky weight acrylic yarn. So many of the new yarns are so thin they fall into the weight below, leaving you having to change your pattern or needle size halfway through your project. Im a 62 year old knitter and have tried so many yarns but Stylecraft Special aran or chunky are now my essentials. I refuse to knit with anything else. If I'm knitting baby blankets then I knit with Stylecraft Special Aran or if knitting jumpers or cardigans for my grandchildren I knit in either the SS aran or SS Chunky. Its the right thickness to keep you incredibly warm. Can be thrown in the washing machine and tumbler afterwards. I never get pilling with the chunky and both the aran and the chunky are incredibly soft. Soft enough for new babies. There is a good range of colours and its very affordeable. I cannot rate it highly enough. The only downside to the yarn is the availability . I tend to buy from the Knitting Network as I find they're the best for not only price but their customer service is second to none, but they tend to run out of stock, or go low in stock with a lot of the popular colours in both the Stylecraft Special Aran or Chunky. Perhaps its out of their hands as a lot of the yarn now comes from Turkey so there may be supply issues. I've given up trying to use other makes of yarn so I just wait until Stylecraft comes back into stock. Its well worth the wait.
I have used this yarn before. It is soft and comfortable. but the downside is. it pills.
