OpenCart Module for Russian Post by TheKrotek

OpenCart Module for RussianPost by TheKrotek

I bought Russian Post Shipping module directly from TheKrotek.
Claimed to be compatible with my OpenCart-3032 (dots removed purposely)
In fact, it is written for older 2.xxx OpenCart version and a one more module required to make it compatibility with OpenCart 3.xxx (this is noted by the seller).

1. Initially, it did not work at all. All attempts to receive promised support hit the wall “My module has no problems, look for the issue on your side”. As a result, I had to go into the module code, find the critical issue and fix it. Only after that someone from TheKrotek side accepted that there was a problem with the module and published the patch (but I already fixed code by myself).

2. After that, I found that the module does not provide multilingual functionality (though it claimed to be). Attempts to get support on this subject were unsuccessful. TheKrotek provided not adequate (from the programming point of view) answers that were not polite.

There was also strong feeling that someone who claimed to be the author of this module and sells it knows very little about the module code. I have doubts that he is the author.

3. Code itself of the module is good in general. I have not worked with OpenCart coding before but it was easy to navigate through code and find what is needed. Code was clear, without any silly stuff like encryption of PHP so it was possible to fix critical issues that the code contained.
Therefore, if you are going to buy it make sure that you can deal with fixing it on your own. Kind of Lego, for DIY project.

4. Functional part – well done. There are a lot of settings (though not all of them really working but they can be fixed by you). However, most of settings work.

5. Not reliable. Very easily can be removed just by cleaning up OpenCart modificators. It happens only with this module and one more – all of other reliable modules well written stay and work well. This is a real issue. Sometime modificators have to be cleaned – after this I have to re-install TheKrotek Russian Post Shipping module again. The only good part – after such re-installation it keeps all previous settings.

For example, I have another shipping module for CDEK – this is excellent reliable module and have never been an issue from the moment of installation irrelevant of modificators, cache cleaning or other modules installed. TheKrotek Russian Post Shipping module is not reliable at all.

Verdict: I do not recommend buying this module. The reasons are: the module is not reliable, no support. A person who provides support deemed to be not knowledgeable about this particular module code and his attitude is not really polite close to rude.

About me – I am a developer with years of experience in programming so I know this stuff.
