Gives good prices but they are strict

I've sold around 6 phones to them and 5/6 I got full price.

They are very strict, even if there is a 'minor' mark, they will reduce the price. Even then when I requested for $20 more, they were happy to do.
However, if it is truly in mint condition they will 100% give you what they promise.

The whole process from selling the phone to the inspection and getting paid takes 2 days (I use Paypal to get the money).

100% would recommend and will continue to use them in the future. Much easier than selling to marketplace and getting time wasters

Untrustworthy trade in

Sent in a mobile without a blemish on the screen or back for trade in. The phone was a S25 ultra with gorilla armour glass. Has never even been close to being dropped. Somehow claimed the phone has deep scratches based on a video where the phone colour is different to phone sent in while offering $330 less.

Requested return and having to pay $10 to get my own phone back with whatever damage was caused by mobile guru.

Use their services at your own risk.

Website says “no dents and phone…

Website says “no dents and phone working, only superficial scratches” or “like new” - mine was the first, no dents, no screen damage and the phone worked perfectly. And they wanted to offer me half the price. I said no obviously. I am waiting for the items to be returned.

Be careful doing trade-in with Mobile Guru

They offered AUD 100 for my Apple Watch and decreased the price to AUD60 based on the inspection result “device meet conditions” which was a serious breach of the offer they made. I checked the inspection report that it was not even my watch they inspected. What a mess and cheating of the trade in.

Lack of response and no payment.

Sent my phones in on the 22nd of last month, they arrived to the company on the 28th. And yet, nothing. They messaged me about unlocking one of the phones I sent via icloud, I did. Then they told me they forwarded me to their 'lock device team' (exact words). And that theyd update me via email, they still havent said anything despite me sending them several emails!!! They just took my phones and ran!

Received payment in full for my iPhone 11 Pro Max from Mobile Guru. I had previously stated that I had been scammed due to the time frames with no contact.
I highly recommend that they need to reassess their advertising in order to avoid further negativity.

AVOID

My partner purchased a Pixel 9 Pro Fold via Rebeelo as a birthday gift, sold and shipped by The Mobile Guru. The device was listed as Premium Quality with an elevated battery condition and priced at $1,100.

The phone arrived without the original box, which is acceptable, although we had expected it given that this was the highest condition tier available.

However, the front display advertised as scratch-free arrived with heavy scratches and even a small crack. Rebeelo offered a $50 refund for this issue, which is completely inadequate given the condition mismatch.

While using the phone, we also discovered that the battery does not charge properly. After testing multiple chargers and cables, the issue persisted. We then ran Google’s built-in diagnostic tool, which confirmed that wired charging has failed, clearly indicating a hardware fault.

Based on this experience, I strongly advise against buying from The Mobile Guru, either directly or through Rebeelo. The condition descriptions are misleading, and faulty devices are being sold. Other reviews also mention receiving stolen or defective phones, and many of the positive reviews appear to be influenced by compensation being offered in exchange.

I am extremely disappointed with their customer service. I sent my device on 05/12/2025 and it was delivered on 09/12/2025. I received an email stating that they needed an ID and the device purchase invoice. I replied with both within five minutes. After that, there was no response. I keep receiving emails asking for the same documents, and there has been no reply to any of my messages or emails

Hi Sreejith,

We’re sorry to see your review and understand your frustration.

After reviewing your case, we can confirm your device was received, verified, assessed, and approved. Once you replied “YES,” payment was processed to your nominated bank account the same day. At no stage was your device or payment withheld.

The requests for ID and invoice are part of our standard compliance process. We also noted that multiple sell orders were placed around the same time, which can trigger additional verification and automated reminders. This may have caused repeated emails, and we agree this could have been clearer.

Mobile Guru purchases and resells devices, so these checks are necessary to protect both customers and our business from legal or compliance issues. This process applies equally to all customers.

We value our long-standing relationship with you and believe this experience does not reflect the many successful transactions we’ve completed together. As the matter has been resolved and payment completed, we kindly ask that you consider updating your review to reflect the final outcome.

If there’s anything further you’d like us to clarify, please contact us at hello@mobileguru.com.au or 1300 362 017 and we’ll assist promptly.

Classic bait-and-switch. Avoid at all costs.

I purchased a Surface Pro 11 (16GB/512GB) through Mobile Guru Australia on the Kogan Marketplace during Black Friday. My order was confirmed, and I was actively monitoring for the tracking link.

Because the order was confirmed, I purchased accessories from another seller so I’d have everything ready when the device arrived.

Then — without warning, without any attempt to contact me, and without my consent — Mobile Guru cancelled my order and issued a refund I never agreed to. Under Australian Consumer Law, I do not have to accept a refund, and I have made this clear repeatedly.

Since then, both Mobile Guru and Kogan have ignored my messages, ignored my consumer rights, and simply stopped responding altogether.

To make things worse, the accessories I ordered (from another international seller through the same platform) were rushed out so quickly after the cancellation that they sent the wrong screen protector — Surface Pro 8 instead of Surface Pro 11. Now I’m forced to go through the hassle of returning an international item and waiting weeks for a refund, all because the original device I paid for was never supplied.

At this point it looks like a textbook bait-and-switch: advertise a high-demand item at a good price, confirm the order, then quietly cancel once the customer has already committed to related purchases.

I now have active complaints lodged with both the ACCC and NSW Fair Trading.

Do not buy from Mobile Guru Australia.
And be extremely cautious buying anything from Kogan Marketplace.
If something goes wrong, you’ll be ignored, delayed, and left to deal with the mess yourself.

Good, but can be improved.

I recently decided to sell my old MacBook Air with The Mobile Guru. I'd seen tons of positive reviews online, so I was really expecting everything to go off without a hitch.

The initial process was great: super speedy and straightforward from the moment I got my first quote, and their communication was clear.

The only real snag came when I dropped off the laptop. I was told they couldn't do the final appraisal right there on the spot and that I'd get the results by email later (so I can't see how they actually assess the laptop).

When that final price did come through, it was lower than the initial quote—which, okay, whatever, that happens—but they didn't give a reason why. The laptop honestly only had a couple of tiny, tiny scratches on it. I'd rated it 'good,' despite it being very close to mint condition. But I couldn't chat to anyone about the new pricing. It was a take-it-or-leave-it situation: either accept the new offer or come pick my laptop back up.

It's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but it did make me wonder if they intentionally lowball the final offers after baiting you with a higher initial price. A little explanation for the price drop would have been appreciated, or just a more realistic first quote.

Despite that little hiccup, I’d still recommend them if you're looking to trade in your tech.

If this website allowed me zero or negative stars

If this website allowed me zero or negative stars, that’s what I would give. I sent my iPhone 15 Pro Max to this company, thinking they were professional. They advertise great prices online—what a clever way to lure you in! Then the magic happens: they claim my phone has “aftermarket parts” and offered a much lower price. When I refused, they asked for a $10 return fee then they sent my phone back with an aftermarket LCD that THEY replaced. Incredible service, right?

The best part is? when I called them after receiving the phone on the call, the lady proudly said she inspected my phone when it arrived. Later, she said she needed to “check with her manager.” Brilliant logic—inspect first, then ask later! Totally normal when you have swapped LCD.

They even offered me a free re-inspection, which makes no sense unless they know that they are the one who changed the LCD of my phone.

I am taking this to CONSUMER PROTECTION AUTHORITIES, because someone needs to stop these “SCAMMERS”. If anyone else has had this wonderful experience, please share so we can take these scammers down together.

Thungs!!

Thungs!!

Sent in my iPhone 15pro in fantastic condition. Website states good condition is: “ Excellent working condition
Minor signs of use—has superficial scratches but no defects, chips, or dents
Original battery with above 80% capacity
Free of defects, including white spots, screen burn-in, and water damage
No financial obligations, leases, or contracts associated”

Phone was evaluated @ $790 with comments “Ding and discoloration on the volume up and down buttons” with “ We kindly ask you to visit our office to collect your device or we can return the devices to you at your expense for a fee of $10.” As my only option if I don’t agree

Titanium button, phone always in a case? For all I know it’s dirty, but I’m effectively being held ransom with a 10 dollar fee to return, which is not documented anywhere on the website, or conveniently 20 dollars off what apparently good. Even based on the definition of good, I should get $810.

The business model is clearly built around you sending your device off and having no choice but to accept a reduced offer or paying fees not clearly defined on the website.

Hi Adrian,

Thank you for your review. We’d like to clarify the process to ensure everything is transparent.

Your iPhone 15 Pro was inspected on arrival, and our team provided photos showing the ding and button discolouration found during assessment. After reviewing this, you confirmed “YES” to proceed with the offer. Only after your confirmation did we process the payment, which was sent to your nominated account the next business day.

We also attempted to contact you for an update after your emails, but we didn’t receive a response. Seeing your review was surprising, as everything was completed exactly as agreed.

At Mobile Guru, every device follows the same process assessment, evidence, customer approval, then payment or return. Nothing is done without the customer’s consent.

If you need any further assistance, we’re here to help.

Kind regards,
Mobile Guru Team

DON’T EXPECT TO GET THE ITEM YOU ORDER!!!!!!!!!
Brought a 2024 MacBook Pro with M4 Pro chip, 24gb of ram. After getting and checking the laptop it was only base m4 chip with 16gb of Ram. Not what I purchased or Ordered.
When I contacted support was basically told stiff sh** get a refund or keep it.
Wouldn’t recommend and a huge hassle considering you don’t get what you pay for.
