Happy Again

This is the second time we have used the modern back. My first chair was beginning to fail so we went to replace it. Daniel was very helpful and knowledgeable. Based on my request he found me the perfect chair in just minutes. It was a floor model. They were able to have it delivered in just a few days the delivery drivers who came all the way from Orlando were absolutely stellar in every way. They were very polite very convivial, very professional and worked quickly. I cannot say enough, good things about the pair of them. I would recommend the modern back in the future to friends and family.

Refreshing experience

The ability to "feel" the right massage chair is amazing. I have tried other chairs but none like the Daiwa Legacy 4. Not only did Daniel and team help to find exactly what i was searching for, they worked within my price range. Daniel was super helpful and listened to my needs! Thank you so much!!

Daiwa massage chair

Everything about selecting and purchasing my chair was top notch. Daniel was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He walked me thru all of my options. Delivery crew was on time and very professional. explained how everything worked. i would definitely recommend them.

Daniel Le at the Modern Back Store provided truly outstanding service from start to finish. His extensive knowledge, patience, and willingness to walk us through multiple models made the entire experience both informative and enjoyable. He asked thoughtful questions, listened carefully, and offered recommendations that felt genuinely tailored to our needs. On top of that, he was incredibly friendly—if all customer service were like his, shopping would always be a pleasure, and we absolutely love our Daiwa Supreme Hybrid massage chair

I Love this chair

First let me say, I LOVE THIS CHAIR! Now I also really liked and enjoyed my experience with Modern Back.
Daniel was very easy to talk with and very patient with me and my wife. Understand I am an analog man trying to live in a digital age. I am 81 years old and among other things that don't work is my hearing. This necessitated a lot of repeating from Daniel.
We live in Fort Myers about 80 miles from The Modern Back it was the second time we visited the first time about a year ago. They remembered us (digital memory I'm sure).I called ahead to confirm their hours. Daniel met us at the door and I told him what chair I wanted to see. The chair is for me, my bride of 61 years does not appreciate massage chairs for her use. I had been shopping on line and found what appeared to be the best fit for use and budget. So we went to the floor model and guess what, It was too small. So Daniel showed us several chairs and then I plopped down in The Daiwa Supreme Hybrid. He turned it on and to quote Jackie Gleason (sorry if you are too young to remember him) "Away we go." My bride said that looks like a good fit, I said it feels like one too.
Daniel demonstrated some of the programs. To say I was impressed is a great understatement. I had read up on the hybrid and the massage was described as having several people massage you at the same time , it really did, on my feet, on my lower back, on my glutes on my upper back and neck and on my arms and hands all independent of each other, Oh man, it was great.
Well, we went home without the chair. I had a difficult time spending that much money on just me. My bride said, " look it will make you feel better and you looked good in it." Well I could not refuse anything that makes me look good, so we called Daniel and bought the chair.
I wanted to relate this experience to you who have been patient enough to read this knowing that you are not alone when it comes to buying a massage chair, we are not spending pocket change. Take your time and if possible go to a real brick and mortar store even if it requires a drive. If nothing else you get an excuse to eat at a new restaurant or have some alone time together.
We made the decision to buy and Daniel set us up for delivery. The delivery was made as scheduled and the guys set up the chair, made sure all was in working order and answered all my questions. It was great.
Now the chair is installed and I am enjoying the heck out of it. I have demonstrated it to several friends and my two daughters and they all love it. I have the chair installed in my masculine hillside excavation( aka man cave).
I introduce them to the chair by turning down the lights, turning off the tv and turning on my northern lights generator. They are then advised to relax, drop their lower jaw slightly, let their muscles go limp and do not fight the chair. Let the chair move the torso, the chair is designed to move and massage muscles. Once they are comfortable in the chair and because some of them have never been in a massage chair before, I tell them I am going to start with a mild program and work them up to a more vigorous program. I start them in the options program with the full body air bags. That gives them a feel for the chair and its strength and will loosen their muscles a little. (I use the ten minute cycle for all the programs in the intro phase) After the air bag program I move them as follows using the Gentle setting,
1. Morning Buzz
2. Stress Relief
3. Recovery
4.Royal Treatment
This is just my way of showing them what the chair is capable of doing. Years ago I had a very basic massage chair and when I showed friends how the chair worked I popped them into the chair and turned it on to the most vigorous program. Shame on me. Most people got out of the chair not liking it. I was young and strong and enjoyed a vigorous digging into my back massage (I thought everyone else wanted the same thing) Not only that, it is very hard to relax with some one watching you shake, rattle and roll in a chair. That being said, I start the chair and settle back to read a book. I do not want to start a conversation I want them to have a good experience. They will tell me if it is too rough, if it is I stop and add another back pad. I use the two back pads that are attached to the chair and another for the glutes. another pad can be used if necessary. Remember, don't scare them off the way I did.
As for the bells and whistles all the controls work very easily and for an old guy that is important. There are three timer settings for the programs, ten, twenty and thirty minutes. The heat is turned on by using the push buttons on the left arm of the chair. The turn control button switches to gentle, smooth and vigorous operation.
I don't use the speakers my hearing aids blue tooth to my phone.

I had the blessing to find "The Modern…

I had the blessing to find "The Modern Back" online while doing some research for a massage chair. They had the best prices and offers at the time (prices change often in websites). A few weeks ago I saw this offer for a Daiwa Supreme Hybrid and filled out a form to get the offer. A few mins later, Daniel kindly texted me and offered help. He was patient with me and explained everything I had questions about. I spent maybe a week or 2 just talking to him before buying the chair because I wanted to ask my wife (we have a tied budget). She finally agreed and we started the process. Daniel made everything so this was as easy as possible for us. I was really afraid I wouldn't like the chair or it wouldn't work the way I was expecting. Well, I got the chair 5 days ago and it is a dream, I have back issues, and look, maybe I didn't find the right doctor in all these years to tell me what I have, but I've visited multiple, go to chiropractors, exercise, but nothing seemed to work for my specific issue. After trying the chair for these 5 days I feel amazing. Haven't felt this good in years. Daniel thank you for being patient, for not trying to push, and for explaining everything so well!

Quite the investment

This review is long overdue, but here goes. I purchased the Osaki DuoMax SE in May of 2025 as a long-term sufferer of pain.

A friend recommended the Daiwa Supreme and I thought, I sit in a massage chair one every 2-3 weeks at my nail appointments, and how cool it could be to have one at my house. Then I saw the price and said nope, the nail appointment use would be just fine.

Well one search on these chairs and in came an influx of adds, thanks google; and I might have signed up for a coupon for this great idea. In conversations with my friend, the deal that was available when her chair was purchased was nowhere in sight. In the mean time, I was going back and forth with the pros and cons and had decided no deal, no chair. Of course, I then received a just in time for Mother’s Day sale on all sorts of chairs. I fell for the trap and went to try out these chairs. I still thought they were too expensive and was overwhelmed walking into the Modern Back with the smorgasbord of massage chairs. I was greeted by Daniel and told him of the recommend chair. He said no problem, let's head that way. In conversation we discussed what I was looking for and he said, here is the chair you asked for, however I think this one may suit you better. If you have time, let's try out both of them. That set up, led me into trying out a variety of chairs in multiple price points.

About an hour or so later, I was now between the Daiwa Supreme and Osaki DuoMax SE.

They were very similar in price point, functionality yet Daiwa offered a better warranty than Osaki.

What tipped me toward Osaki is the foot massage capability. The enclosed foot compartment that allows for a roller technique was a game changer. 6 months later, I have no regrets on this investment. Yes, it is an investment for the price paid.

I am not pain free, but it is a good go to in between my pain rehab.
Love that it helps me relax and unwind daily.

It has so many bells and whistles I have not tapped into yet, but I enjoy the automatic settings pre loaded and creating my own setting.

There is a stretch mode I really enjoy that provides a good back stretch and pain relief.

The controls are user friendly.

Tom, the owner popped in. He was very friendly and told me a little more about him and the history of the company.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the white glove service provided by Mr. Charles delivering and assembling the chair.

He was very patient, friendly and personable while working. He did everything to perfection!!

Highly recommend The Modern Back if thinking about investing in lifetime comfort. Daniel or Tom will get you in the best chair for your needs.

Dan was great
