Be honest about buy back prices. Gold went up 12% and yet they offered me 3 grand less than what I purchased for.

I was utterly shocked and horrified last week when I asked the Pure Gold Company for a valuation on my Gold investment and they came back with a figure that was 12% less than the original Capital sum I invested. That, in a year when Gold has gone up at least 18%, is absolute daylight robbery, in my humble opinion. The Pure Gold Company want me to accept a valuation that gives me a loss of over £100,000. To be honest I feel much worse off than if I’d just left my money in the notoriously corrupt Bank.
In matter of fact, I ought to be in profit.
I ask you, the Pure Gold Company - What is going on? How can you conscience this despicable and disgraceful behaviour?
To anyone looking at buying Gold, please avoid this company, as there is money to be made in precious metals, but not with the Pure Gold Company.

Avoid! Insist on full transparency about buy back prices before investing!
Avoid! I could write a thesis on The Pure Gold Company and my disappointment, disdain and dissatisfaction with them, but I shall refrain. Suffice to say, I am extremely suspicious about the copious, apparently glowing reviews! No Company gets repeated 5 star scores, does it?! Yes, they were competent at selling me gold. However, beware of their alarmingly opaque buy back prices! Has anyone really made a profit with them? I very much doubt it! The real "sting" is that their much plugged gold coins' prices are not tracked to the gold spot price, so there is no way to know one's investment's value.
I took my money out when I sussed they were more than a little dubious, and have invested elsewhere. Somewhere transparent about fees. This was precipitated by my desire to liquidate around 25% of my investment. When I enquired about doing this, I was advised "Ah, there are a lot of sellers at the moment, so the price is low". This spiel rang huge alarm bells, as Gold was performing relatively well at the time. I was also suspicious about their repeated assertion that Gold must be held for 2 to 3 years, rising to 5 years in some conversations. Unless I am missing something, investments can rise in any time frame!
With the further uptick in Gold's price in April, I am extremely pleased that I have moved my investment to another Gold dealer. There are reputable Gold dealers out there, I simply regret not doing my due diligence, thoroughly, prior to investing with The Pure Gold Company.
I should also add that their storage prices are exorbitant! One of their main competitors (who I now have invested with) charge a fraction of the price.
Once again, avoid!
**UPDATE 22/8/2025**
I would urge prospective Investors/Investors to follow this Company for alerts via the Companies House website. I have done since my unfortunate experience with The Pure Gold Company. Today I received an alert advising "First Gazette notice for compulsory strike off". Full explanation of what this means can easily be found on Google, and its not good.

However, it is worth noting that your portfolio ended up being worth considerably more than you paid for it just 5 months after you sold and less than 20 months after your purchase. At the time of your sale we were transparent about the fact that gold is not typically sold within the timeframe you chose, and we were confident that holding onto it would yield the desired results. While this has proven true, we understand you needed to liquidate short term in order to switch to a different asset class.
We regret that your experience did not meet the high standards we strive to provide for our clients.
