Do not do business with this company

Do not do business with this company, it’s a scam. I placed an order with the company for two items in October 2021 and paid in full as requested. Like other reviewers, numerous emails with countless missed proposed delivery dates and excuses; and now I have received an email stating The Really Good Oak Shop has gone into administration. I’m annoyed that I paid by bank transfer (requested as payment with no option to pay by credit card) because I thought it would be good to support a local company. Alarm bells should have rung then!

Horrible

Horrible, Horrible company, Payed by card in advance in July, After many many excuses which played on peoples good nature to help small businesses,
Email arrived to inform me that they were no longer trading, Taking orders and payments when you know that you can not fulfil the ones already in your books,
Is so wrong in so many ways, I can not express with out heading into slander territory.

No furniture here

I ordered a bespoke hifi unit on 2 January 2022 and paid in full as requested. Received all the same emails as other reviewers and now find they have closed. Interesting that on Companies House website this Company was only incorporated on 15 June 2022. How do we get our money back, I didn't pay by credit card?

Ordered a cabinet in April 2021

Ordered a cabinet in April 2021. Since then, we've been fobbed off with numerous, fictitious delivery dates by Wayne from the Really Good Oak Company.

After 19 months, we still had not received our furniture so I requested a refund. I received a response from Wayne, informing me that money would be refunded, but would take up to 14 days to reach my account.

We did not receive our money.

Fortunately paid on credit card, so have managed to get our money back via Section 75 protection.

For any of you who are not aware, there is also "chargeback" protection for items bought with debit cards.

Something needs to be done

My friend has just sent me this website.
Like everyone else I had paid upfront in July for a table/glass small dining table.
Wayne said 10 weeks which was fine.
Emailed him 2 weeks ago for a refund as delivery would be till January. I needed it for Christmas.
Yes I also got the email yesterday.
Something needs to be done. Why should we all lose our money.

The same experience as others

The same experience as others. Ordered two bespoke cabinets in Feb 2022, paid £1400 in full upfront, same excuses for delay. I visited the premises in early December. A large and basic agricultural style shed, nothing like the standard you will see elsewhere if you google "bespoke furniture makers Bristol". Three people apparently oiling some table tops but no actual woodworking in progress. Katie Edmondson had no idea about my order nor could she show any sort of work schedule. I left with zero confidence that I would ever see my order so asked for the goods or a refund by 31 December. Now emailed to say they have closed down.
I paid by credit card so hoping my Section 75 claim will bear fruit.

I've lost £525. Angry and disappointed

Have also received an email today advising company in administration. I paid £525 by bank transfer, which I've probably lost now. Angry and disappointed.

The Really Good Oak Shop

The Really Good Oak Shop, run by the Edmondsons (Wayne, Katie and Andrew), really is not good at all. We have been badly let down. We also received an email from the company saying that it has gone into administration, but it is still active, according to Companies House. There is no record of insolvency, or any evidence that it has closed. It is hard to know what to believe.

Alan, our experience is similar to yours (promises made and broken, requests for refunds ignored). We would like to get in touch, but are not sure how to do so.

Reading the reviews, it's hard to avoid thinking that we are victims of fraud. It concerns me the site is still running. The place to report this is at Action Fraud. Unfortunately, I can't place a link for you, but it's easy to find and there is a number, 0300 123 2040

In Administration apparently

E-mail contact from company claims they have gone into administration:

"Due to illness and a campaign of damaging posts we have had to close with a loss of 4 jobs.
The workshop is now closed.
The Administrators will be in contact and a customer help line will be in operation as soon as possible."

We like previous customers ordered two…

We like previous customers ordered two cabinets but neither has been delivered. We placed our order back in July and were told to expect our delivery in 10-12 weeks. We have had numerous emails regarding unforeseen delays and excuses as to why we are still waiting for our items. Please do not order from this company.

Do not do business with this company

Do not order from this business. Like other reviewers have mentioned they take your money and fail to deliver. My order of £1000 was made on 5th October 2021. Since then they have missed 8 proposed delivery dates and refuse to provide a refund. I am currently applying to the county court to recover my money. If you have any bad experiences with the company please contact me as I am preparing some information for Trading Standards

Do you enjoy being scammed?

Ordered a custom made bathroom shelf in January. I can only repeat what previous reviewers have said. Repeated lies and excuses for delay after delay followed by an offer of a discount if we would wait further and then complete failure to fulfil the order. I finally gave up and insisted on a full refund which was promised within 3-14 days. Guess what? No refund, no surprise. Luckily I paid by credit card. The credit card company has refunded me and will be pursuing the Really "good" Oak Shop for the money back. I have no idea how they sleep at night or even continue to trade.

Great workmanship and quality.

Due to oak supply issues during the pandemic our order was delayed. As soon as suitable oak was sourced our order of bespoke bookcase and nest of tables was fulfilled. Great quality and workmanship. We are delighted with our purchases.

Scam with repeated excuses

The company has consistently delayed sending the order and sends an email every month to say that the order will be delayed. I have now waited for more than 6 months for the order to arrived. I don't like leaving negative reviews but they have left me no option.

Be very very careful when ordering from this company! They stated that the unit would take 2 months to manufacture but (despite payment) they have failed to deliver. It was ordered in February, and it's now almost September...
