Heaven sent

I have had four rehabs and three 999 admissions for between one and two weeks each time i know from my experiences what is good and what is unethically bad. I went into the Lodge 3 times in 2018. A total of 10 weeks. Was that the fault of the Lodge? No. All addicts will blame everyone else for their non recovery or for the reasons they are addicted. That, plain and simple, is an addicts 'brain".
First time i entered i nigh on needed an emergency ambulance as i collapsed and thanks to Nora the nurse at the Lodge she brought me around so i could start my journey. All medical requirements are met, doctors advice available and prescriptions on a tapering level given. Office areas immaculate and professional. Medical areas the same. Staff over and above friendly and empathatic. All councellors have been as i once was, so they 'know".they lived it! Including the owner. So this is not run by folk who 'learnt how to help' in a book!. They were there. Same as me and many others. We have lived it! So we know. I fought against them. I fought the 12 steps. Typical addict! Everyone elses fault. I can do it on my own. You can't. You need to surrender and these guys get that and will always be there for you.IF YOU WANT IT!.
The house and grounds are immaculately clean. The baths and showers are cleaned daily. The rooms are small as in a house but are clean, warm, comfortable. Privacy is available at all times but of course they have to ensure you are not indulging secretly. It is a recovery lodge after all, that is why you are there.the councellors, well,it is called tough love. In recovery being cuddled and told it will be alright is available, but at the end of the day you need to admit your issues to yourself first. Submit. Then the work can begin.so critiscism of councellors is ALWAYS from folk that are not ready to accept their own shortcomings and faults. Easier to blame others that they are still an addict than accept that they are an 'addict" and willing to accept help. It is self catering. And the issue is? All clients have to do housework and cooking to get normality back and self worth and recovery. All meals etc you simply list down each week what supplies you need for the week and the lodge buys everything requested! Except for illicit substances or alcohol of course!. You are allowed to smoke in the grounds. Hygiene is exceptional. You will be occupied every day and meetings in the evenings. Afternoons out for relaxtion and recovery. Once a month all taken out for a meal. All needs cared for. The only reason to complain against the Lodge is that you simply are not ready to accept your own addictions and faults.
Jamie and Donna and all the rest ,who helped me without question, all through my relapses and my refusal to accept help , are the reasons i am alive now.
3 litres vodka a day ! Neat ! For 6 months!. And i am finally clean and loving life.
This Lodge is personal, intimate, caring with all facilities up to top specification. Warm welcoming and like being in a home, not a hospital ward.
There is absolutely no fault at all with the Lodge and i have stayed three times so i know!.
Use the Lodge. Do not go elsewhere where they are just interested in your money.
These folk are interested in seeing you STAY ALIVE!.
They care!.
This Lodge is faultless now i am in recovery. When i was addicted i hated it.
Why? Because addicts do not like being challenged. They will lie, cheat, steal, badmouth. All of that. Because they are addicts and refuse to submit. I know! I did that too. In recovery, looking back, this place is a gift from God.!
Two choices. Do you want to live,be in recovery?
Or do you wish to do it "your way" and fail? And in the end die a very slow painful death.?
I wanted to live. I do. I used the Lodge. I am clean. I am still here loving life. Make your choice.
Bless bless.

I had a very bad experience at this rehab same time last year

Been in 2 rehabs before so I have reliable benchmarks. Based on my experience I would say avoid this place and go elsewhere, there are lots of better residential rehabs out there – some even free, but certainly many at this price level (they are very expensive for what they offer). The buildings are not ‘fit for purpose’ and get very cold & draughty in Winter, hence my reason for placing this warning review now. Neither are they spacious or particularly comfortable. Part of my bad experience was a large financial loss, which brought me into contact with the owner of this private enterprise, this contact led me to have grave doubts as to his suitability to be involved in therapeutic work of any kind. In fact I had serious reservations about many of the staff including administrators, medics and counsellors/therapists. It is effectively self-catering and I saw issues and practices that made me question how hygienic the place was, very important for those entering treatment. So, do yourself a favour and make other plans, I did and am still clean & sober and very glad I made a lucky escape!
