Thorough survey evidencing invisible issues and indicating possible causes of substandard thermal performance
Having moved into a new built house over Christmas 2020, and struggled to warm it up over a few weeks, we sought James’s services in desperation.
The developers who’d sold us the house maintained that the house was super well insulated and that it was our inability to use the heating system that was causing the low temperatures and wind indoors. Faced with the callous attitude from the developers, it was a devastating time for us, feeling trapped in what was fast proving to be a nightmare house.
James’s genuine care and resolve to do a thorough and professional thermal survey, despite a number of unforeseen challenges with the environment, were the first steps towards restoring our faith in humanity.
James is knowledgeable, prompt to respond, courteous. He paid exceptional attention to detail during the survey, generously investing his time to investigate each room thoroughly. The data rich report, which included many external and internal photos, not only displayed the facts about temperature variances, but also suggested possible causes. It confirmed the issues we had already spotted and also uncovered a number of invisible ones.
The report was the turning point for the developers to start taking our issues seriously, although it did take further surveys from a structural engineer and a chance discovery that a whole layer of bricks and insulation were missing, before the developers could finally start working towards a resolution.
Three months after moving in, and two months after James’s survey, we are only just starting to get some of the issues resolved. We still refer to his report on regular basis.
I recommend James’s thermal imaging survey whole heartedly. I think it is an essential survey before buying a house, as, unless you’ve personally witnessed the build and inspections, chances are mistakes were made, covered up and never spotted by building regulations or any traditional property surveys.
