I am a professional photographer with 7 years experience in the fashion, event and product design sectors of photography.
I have been a member of many organisations over the years,but none of them have provided me the same fair treatment, professional level of clientelle, or fair commission percentage from my payment, as much as The Shoot.
The only frustrating thing is how The Shoot's payment system works, as it takes quite a while for payment to actually come through. Delayed payment is commonplace in the world of working freelance, but 2 wrongs don't make a right, and have therefore given them 4 stars instead of 5.
I just believe that it is the single most toxic aspect of being self employed, and so, would love to see their system do more to protect self employed individuals that need paying on time for the work they've carried out. We have bills, rent and other invoices to pay too.
They have responded to this when I raised it originally, but I still don't think hard workers should be a victim of a system they have not created.

We're sorry you feel that way about our payment system. Maybe we can clarify a few points.
As we've discussed with you before, payments are made upfront by the customer and are held securely by Stripe. Stripe automatically triggers the payout to your bank account 3 days after completing the photoshoot. This provides protection for both photographers and customers by allowing time for each party to raise any disputes that might have arisen.
Any additional time taken for the money to appear in your account is completely out of our hands and is down the time it takes for your bank to process it. We have noticed that it can take the banks up to 7 days to process the very first payout, however, subsequent payments are typically much faster - usually within a day.
We fully support freelancers and self-employed photographers and set up The Shoot specifically to empower them. We're really happy to have you on The Shoot and look forward to more successful shoots with you!
