Fantastic app and book

Sleep school's app and book are simply the best money I've ever spent. It helped me so much when I really needed help. Within days my sleep improved using the techniques described and accepting my insomnia instead of fighting it with sleeping pills and obsessing about sleep (reading and thinking about how to sleep all day)!!!!! I would recommend using both the app and book for better and quicker results. I still have someway to go to get to a normal sleeper but the improvement in such a short space of time is amazing! Thank you all very much.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Sleep School!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Sleep School!! This year has been very trying, and while I have always struggled with insomnia, early this year it got really bad with everything happening in the world. I prayed real hard for help, and God led me to the Sleep School. It has changed my life. The tools that they teach are very easy for me to use, and the videos are very informative and easy to follow. I not only use the tools for insomnia (which since I found the Sleep School, my sleep has been on track more consistently than it has been for a long long time), but my anxiety has been GREATLY helped as well by the tools that they teach. HIGHLY recommend it!

The Sleep School

I had to face-to-face meetings as well as going through the online course. It was helpful but its impact on improving my sleep pattern was limited. I would have given them three stars, but their communications are terrible. They seem to have given up on replying to emails and telephone messages. I have also undergone the "Sleep for Life" course which is better.

Thank you for a great resource

I came across Dr. Guy Meadows through a podcast and after suffering insomnia for 1.5 years. After seeing sleep physicians and psychologists he was the first sleep specialist that made total sense to me. I downloaded the app and it has been a great resource to sleeping normally again. It didn’t happen overnight but I’m sleeping normally again now and feel confident that I can manage any relapses. Just wanted to say thank you for a great resource.

Took a year but improved my sleep - good value

In short, I was a terrible sleeper on loadsa meds - it took me about a year and now Im an average sleeper on no meds. However I used this course alongside the Landmark forum and meditation workshops and I think I needed all of the above.
In full, I had never been a particularly good sleeper but had never been bothered about it.
When I had my first child my sleep got really bad where it was affecting my everyday life and was on my mind a lot and I got really bothered! I rarely slept more than a couple of hours without disruption and spent many a night when I didn’t sleep a wink. This was not because of my baby as she slept through the night. I was on a lot of sleep medication and still didn’t sleep! This is when I signed up for the
Sleep School Insomnia workshop. I had read the sleep school book but found it confusing. The workshop was incredibly cheap and there didn’t seem to be anything like it on the market. It was good to meet up with other insomniacs who were really normal and didn’t have huge bags under their eyes. Initially I found the workshop confusing but I asked lots of questions and this made it clear to me. It was also good to hear other insomniacs talk.

I cannot emphasise enough how much…

I cannot emphasise enough how much attending the Sleep School 1-day workshop changed my life.

I had been struggling with severe bouts of insomnia over the past 4 years and was starting to become desperate. I also became resigned to the fact that this was something that I would always live with.

However, attending the workshop enabled me to do a few key things which have transformed my sleep and, as such, my life:
- Allowed me to share my experiences with people who actually understood the depths of severe sleep deprivation. We shared our fears and thoughts, and it was so therapeutic to finally be able to speak freely about the issue with those who truly understood.

- Taught me to accept rather than fight my thoughts. This has been the lynchpin of my successful recovery out of perpetual bouts of insomnia.

- Given me techniques in mindfulness that have improved my anxiety in other areas, not just sleep.

Overall, being able to speak to professionals who treat insomnia as a legitimate mental health issue, rather than a 'characteristic' of someone was brilliant. I truly walked out of the door of the workshop believing that things could change with the right perspective and practice - and they have!

Thank you so much to the Sleep School. It was by far the best £100 I have ever spent.

Fantastic workshop - heartily recommend.

I couldn't disagree more with the negative review on here. Everything Kat said at the workshop resonated with me and with the other attendees. I have tried all the 'props' going for my chronic insomnia to no avail and now I know why. The info about using regular mindfulness practices to shrink my amygdala cells was a huge lightbulb moment for me and I now use my journey to work, walks with my dog and every other opportunity I can to practice mindfulness rather than fitting in more work/phone calls. I'm also practicing acceptance rather than fighting my thoughts. I am definitely a work in progress but would recommend this workshop to anyone. Btw, PHDs are just as entitled to call themselves doctors as those in the medical field. Thanks so much Kat.

It didn't work for me.

Guy Meadows, founder of The Sleep School, has become the high guru of insomnia problems with several books published and a number of TV appearances. He always uses the title 'Dr'. This may be confusing as he is not medically qualified but says he has a PhD.
Some time ago I signed up for the Six Week Course - weekly one-on-one sessions each costing £100. After four sessions there was no improvement in my sleep at all. The last two sessions were postponed many times and after several months I requested a refund. Dr Meadows refunded £200.
The course combined "sleep hygiene" practices (regular bedtimes, no caffeine, alcohol, exercise, use of smart phones and similar devices before retiring etc.) with conventional cognative behavioural therapy techniques. A sprinkling of Mindfulness was mixed in like a magic ingredient from the Orient.
There are many inexpensive "sleep hygiene" books on the market. An introductory Mindfulness course normally involves six weeks of daily meditations of at least an hour per day (again many books with CD meditations available), although whether Mindfulness is a useful tool for dealing with insomnia is debatable as it emphasises being "present" and aware - not necessarily what you want when you are trying to drift off to sleep. Dr Meadows coursework was full of howling grammatical and spelling errors and the copy CD of mindfulness meditations he gave me was unusable due to skipping in the CD player. The coursework said to buy and read a Mindfulness book ('Full Catastrophe Living' by Jon Kabat-Zinn) but when I told Dr Meadows I'd got it, he said it would be better not to read it.
Sleep School techniques may help some people; I think not many. The course shone a bright spotlight on my insomnia, making it worse. If you can't sleep the chances are that there is something worrying you. I found it far more useful talking to a conventional therapist.
