My tour guide for the Tower of London was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, engaging, and informative.
He moved our group seamlessly through the tour with humor and fun. I would definitely take another tour with him or the company and would surely recommend the company to others! Thank you!
The guide was friendly and she explained very clearly in English. She was quite patient even though the train was late. Her name is Astrid.
I continue to read about all the customer service and immediate conflict, issue, or customer complaints from the tour absolutely failing in every category of the name. A full small group guided tour that was not guided and left to wonder around with no information or help. I have contacted the company for over 10 days now. Today I recieved my first message. It said this is our busy season and that is why it took over a week to reply I should expect that during high volume times. I have the email and repost it if can not get anyone else to respond or address the issue. Customer support is essential and extremely important when on vacation and spending MULTIPLE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TOTAL. 10 day response time to then be told they will investigate and get back to me when they are able. So all this customer support, contact info, hours they post so far have been absolutely false and extremely misleading. So if you have an issue before, during, finding the location anything. Just be prepared to get a short unhelpful response weeks later after the vacation is over. I would advise anyone with an issue to go to your credit card company and dispute the charge and cancel it. As I did exactly the correct steps and correct method according to their website and getting ABSOLUTELY SERO HELP AND NO REFUND OR REPLY.
What started as a tour to the Palace of Versailles and Gardens Tour with Transport from Paris didn't end up as the best experience. My tour time was changed three times, went from a semi-private tour (10 people) to the regular tour (20 people) back to a semi-private that ended up not being semi-private or private, over 20 people in the tour. Due to a train strike, the tour guy booked a bus, that was late, very late. The bus drive got lost on the way, so we were delayed even more. By this time, our tickets expired at Versailles so new ones, if granted by Versailles were printed an hour later. The tour was rushed, what was a 3 hour tour was maybe 2. But we started at 9:45 am and finally got back to Paris at 3:00 pm. I called Tour Guy upon my return to request a refund since this tour was far from what I expected. It cost me over $300 for two tickets. The agent was argumentative, would not honor my request for a refund and when I asked to speak with his supervisor, he refused and told me that was not possible. I really don't like writing bad reviews but this experience was bad.
Easy to find the guide. Francesca gave just the right amount of history for us. She made sure we got to view all we wanted and took family photos for us!
Francesca was a great guide who gave us an informative tour of the gallery and David!
We did the Colosseum Underground Tour with Roman Forum and Palatine Hill on May 20. It has been the BEST tour of our whole time in Italy !! Don’t hesitate , book the tour worth every penny !!
CLAUDIA has got to be the best guide we have ever had on any trip . My young adult daughters are still talking about how much they learned from her and how she made history come alive for them ! Anyone with teen / young adult kids can relate this is a HUGE compliment .
We have done many other tours with good experiences but by far CLAUDIA should get a huge shout out for the amazing job she does ! We noticed other guides with other companies walking around and we knew we had the best !
Can not recommend this tour or Claudia enough !!
Thanks Claudia for making this a huge memory that will live on with our family ..
The Barnett’s
Booked a “Special Access Colosseum Arena Floor Tour through the Gladiator’s Gate” with The Tour Guy during our recent trip to Rome.
The positive first: our guide from Show Me Italy was excellent. Knowledgeable, engaging, professional, and she did an outstanding job salvaging the experience by giving us a very informative Roman Forum tour. She was not the problem.
The issue was operational communication and delivery of the advertised experience.
Leading up to the tour, the time changed multiple times, including a last-minute adjustment the day before. Then, during the tour itself, we learned that we would not actually be entering the Colosseum or accessing the arena floor as advertised. We were told guests had been informed in advance and would receive a 30% refund, but I never received any communication advising of the change.
What made the situation especially frustrating was the lack of responsiveness afterward. The tour itself was subcontracted to Show Me Italy, but I booked and paid through The Tour Guy. Attempts to contact both companies through WhatsApp and customer support channels were either ignored or bounced back and forth between the booking company and the local operator.
To The Tour Guy’s credit, the 30% refund was eventually processed. However, the delay and lack of clear communication significantly added to the frustration.
I understand Rome is a complicated environment with changing access rules, ticketing issues, strikes, etc. That’s precisely why many travelers pay premium prices for organized tours — to outsource that complexity and have clear communication when problems arise.
In summary:
Excellent guide from Show Me Italy.
Poor communication and customer-service coordination between The Tour Guy and the local operator.
Disappointing handling of a materially altered tour experience.
Victoria was a wonderful tour guide. We had a perfect day in Siena and San Gimignano. Our visit to Agricola Poggio ai Laghi was filled with great wine, food, and a lovely education on wine tasting. Victoria taught us about the history of each place we visited, and I would highly recommend this tour!
Our guide, Victoria, was very thoughtful and knowledgeable about history and all of the destinations throughout the tour. She also provided many good recommendations for Florence and our upcoming trip to Cinque Terre. The bus was very comfortable and had very good AC.
Victoria was an amazing guide on our trip to Siena, wine tasting and lunch, and San Gimignano. She knew everything and helped us plan other aspects of our trip to Florence and the Cinque Terre. Highly recommend.
Victoria was amazing. Very knowledgeable and very helpful. Highly recommend the tour.
Victoria was so sweet!! This tour was amazing!! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch experience / wine tasting in Tuscany. Would recommend this to anyone!
Incredible tour from start to finish. Our guide Lorenzo brought incredible energy and information. The vineyards and wines were incredible, full of life and the food paired perfectly. Thank you!
Lori was amazing! She was very informative and conversational. The food was awesome and the information was great. 10/10!
Lori was fantastic and informative!
