My Rega Planar 3, 1980 vintage, had been humming for years. Recently it had got worse. From the research I did it seemed the wiring in the tonearm breaking down might be to blame. I gambled that this was the case and sent the arm to The Vinyl Source for re-wiring. Now it hums no more.
