Re RAC warranty

Re RAC warranty
Purchased a 3 year warranty costing £795 when I bought the car, was assured it would cover everything. First problem was electric seats - was asked to pay for a diagnostic, told this wouldn’t be covered in the policy and would cost £250, fortunately discovered in time that the electric seats also wouldn’t be covered in the policy. Had to fix them myself. Second problem was dealt with fairly efficiently thanks to a very persistent member of staff at the garage I took the car to, despite RAC warranty people trying once again to wriggle out of payment. Third problem was appalling, used a garage recommended by the warranty people, they quoted 12 hours and £600 for the job, the RAC warranty people would only pay for 4 hours and £200, despite the fact this was the garage they had told me to use, £400 out of pocket!! Have now sold the car, warranty has 17 months still to run, have just tried to cancel it and claim a refund only to be told I can’t have a refund because I actually made use of the policy, (which is why I bought it) and made a claim!
Disgusted!!

Awful and appaling

I purchased an added care policy through John Lewis. John Lewis used to work with The Warranty Group but not any more. I am not surprised.
Our washer/dryer broke over two months ago and still has not been fixed. The Warranty Group uses Capital Repairs which is another awful company. During the first visit "engineers" from Capital Repairs told that our washer/dryer was 8 years old. Basically they could not read the machine's serial number. I searched the serial number myself and confirmed the machine was made in 2019.
Capital Repairs ordered expensive parts which took two weeks to arrive. The the same "engineers" came and installed the parts but the machine did not work. Then they ordered another part and we waited two more weeks. This time a new engineer visited and said that the machine needs one small part to start working. He promised he will get our washer/dryer working. We waited for two more weeks. Yesterday one of the first engineers arrived only to find out that he was given a wrong part. Capital Repairs have a very peculiar policy re. parts. They do not allow engineers to open boxes with new parts until they arrive at client's premises. Today we phone Capital Repais and were told that they are waiting for insurer's approval to order the correct part. They do not know whether it was their engineer's mistake who ordered the wrong part or the mistake of the supplier who sent the wrong part.
Stay away from John Lewis extended warranty as it is waste of time and money. Over the nine weeks since our washer/dryer stopped working I have spent around £200 on washing/drying elsewhere and about 20 hours of my time.
Stay away from the Warranty Group and Capital Repairs.

Must improve their communication strategy

Unfortunately, working and communicating with this company was difficult as well as aggravating.

Residing in Florida, I took my car to a mechanic for a broken starter, and they began the claim on the extended warranty. First, the company requested information from the mechanic that was not clarified, nor detailed, and that the company could've found itself. For instance, they failed to clarify what an in-service date was to both the mechanic and me which consumed hours of lost time. Once a representative provided a definition, they wanted the mechanic to contact a dealer for this information. However, no dealer understood what we were asking for nor did they have the information readily available. I reviewed my purchasing contract and provided a date that the customer service rep said should be acceptable. The Claims department disagreed. A customer service agent had to contact the vehicle manufacturer to acquire the date.

Further, none of the customer service representatives provided consistent information regarding follow-up. A customer service reps stated to me that the repair facility had to continuously call the Claims department whenever the mechanic submitted a form while another indicated that all communication was completed virtually. I asked if the reps could send e-mails or follow-ups to the Claims department for clarification, and the reps told me that they could not.

I asked if it was easier to send the car to a CarMax or affiliated repair shop due to the arduous back and forth. They informed me that I ran the risk of my claim being denied since one was already started at a repair facility.

Clearly, there is a disconnect between Customer Service and Claims, which resulted in being without my vehicle for 48 hours without the option nor access to a rental, or alternatives. I paid for the repairs since the mechanic needed the space and I needed my car. The Warranty Group denied my claim in the end.

Dreadful …. Probably the worst company I have ever dealt with

Not only terrible customer service but they make up complete lies about your claim. It’s like they are on a mission and will do absolutely anything necessary to not pay a claim. Even worse that I bought my extended warranty through JB hi fi in Australia and I have to end up dealing with these fraudsters… disgusting behaviour and company.

Warranty issue with this company

We bought a warranty with this company through Carshop when we purchased a car from them.

The engine management light illuminated on our Landrover Discovery HSE 2016 and it had developed a rattling sound from the engine on startup. We took the car straight away to Carshop as that's who we'd bought our car & warranty from. Carshop diagnosed as a timing chain issue and informed us that they haven't the equipment to repair it - they recommended a specialist who further diagnosed and help put in the warranty claim with TWG. The timing chain hadn't snapped, it was stretched, but could snap at any time and we were advised not to drive it as a snapped timing chain would cause catastrophic damage to the engine. We didn’t drive it from that point onwards btw. The claim was denied by TWG saying they're not paying out because the timing chain hasn't snapped!! So, do we continue driving it and wait for it to snap? No, because that would cause thousands of pounds of damage to the engine and I'm absolutely sure they would NOT have paid out in this case either. The car has only done 80,000 miles ( Landrover advise changing timing chain at 105,000 or 10 years) and complete service history. We've done everything we should have done to prevent further damaged and they still deny paying the claim.

We are having to pick up the bill for the timing chain replacement @ £2100.00!!!

BEWARE!
This company's warranties are not worth the paper they are written on - DO NOT BUY!!

Where to start

Where to start. Found out my VW extended warranty was via TWG not VW direct which was a surprise then reading all the bad reviews I wasn’t expecting much and no energy for a fight.
But after following their rules both claims were paid promptly. Yes they didn’t pay the full amount and some parts of the claims seemed strange ( will cover the oil seal and most of the labour but not the gasket or new bolts needed to complete the job and they have a max amount for hourly labour which varies from garage to garage) but overall I think they have been very fair.
2 claims in 2 months which have been paid within 7 days.

I feel sorry for the people who have had a bad experience but thought I would post an honest review.

I must be one of the lucky ones👍

Worst company

We took out an added care policy through John Lewis who used this company. Our washing machine broke three months ago and still has not been fixed costing us over £500 in laundry bills on top of the insurance cover. Not once have they ever called or answered the complaint. They have just been completely absent and left us with no service an no money. Truly appalling. I received a letter from John Lewis today to say that even they won't be using them again. Stay well away from this lot if you want to protect yourself.

Pleas read the comments do not buy it

When I was offered this insurance I was told its usefull because its expensive car to fix and if there's any mechanical fault it is covered. It was all lies!!! Please save Your money read the reviews, I'm so sad I bought it for my range rover. I was unlucky enough to get a car from carshop with which I always have a problems. This warranty doesn't cover any of the faults that that I had with my car. Now I eneded up with broken car that I cannot afford to fix. Differential is something that they cover but only I theory. They say one thing happened to never be true. I'm sick of calling them asking for help. All You got is a recovery that literally costs 1100gbp. Better keep Your money other than buying this product.
I would like to get people that have been promised the same to make a claim against this company as I can see that there are only bad reviews except of some people that had issue with air conditioning it's a joke

This company is the pits

This company is the pits. They absolutely neer pick up the phone. I have spent a couple of hours on hold every day this week and they haven't picked up. It is disgusting service. they neither pick up the number 0330 1003887 or the one ending 3880, just leave you on hold forever . Why sell your rubbish insurance through Amazon if you have no intention of ever letting anyone make a claim. So disgusted with this company. I am not surprised they have such a low approval rating. Amazon should really stop any alliance with this company. Really shoddy service.

Never get carshop/RAC warranty

Car shop/RAC warranty are not worth the paper it is written on, They have had my car for nearly a month, but inly give hire car fir 7 days, for an engine failure and once again trying to blame wear and tear on a 5 year old car that has 48,000 miles on it, but every time they are given the evidence they ask for they ask for something else, this is the second time they have tried to refuse a claim the first time they told me they cant cover faulty wiring in a light cluster, they missed on my MOT/service, as they don’t cover bulbs, but no bulb was claimed for just the holder and wiring

Terrible, really not worth the hassle

Alternator broke and overcharged the battery, when it came to claim they paid a tiny fraction of the cost. They will try and find out what the hourly rate is, and then once they have done that will quote for a ridiculously low amount of time for labour. They won't give you enough money to buy a decent part.

Ignore the "Consequential Damage" clause, it doesn't actually cause consequential damage beyond what is already covered in the policy.

So on a £500 claim I was offered  £196.43.

I’m already done with this warranty…

I’m already done with this warranty company, including RAC
It's very easy, Stop visiting or buying cars where RAC is written, ignore this company and it will cease to exist by itself. This company exists because of us the customers and we don't exist because of this company. Tell and convince everyone you know or a relative should also not use them by convincing more people. These scammers will remain unemployed.

Scam scam scam

Scam scam scam. They are robbers !!!!
I was told that the noise was likely to be a broken water pump under the timing belt. The RAC approved garage that we went to especially checked for RAC Warranty approval to discover that it wasn’t approved. My choices were to pay £84 to take the car away and go somewhere else or chance it breaking down (on doing the job the actual metal parts tension roller etc. were not satisfactory and would have seized and likely jumped the timing belt off causing critical engine failure I was told) or pay £688 upfront to fix it. I had it fixed but why oh why does my RAC Warranty not cover the faulty engine part fix? Rather stupidly it would cover the wrecking of the engine if I had left it. Unhappy RAC Warranty customer.

Wear and tear - Of course

Vehicle caught fire not covered “wear and tear”. A 3 year old transit with 85000 miles on the clock. This is actually the 2nd claim I’ve attempted the 1st was also knocked back due to “nuts and bolts” not being covered. Don’t waste your money buying this warranty or let the offer of it persuade you to buy a vehicle, it’s not worth the paper it’s written on.

Vehicle caught fire, not covered wear and tear. A 3 year old Transit with 85000 miles on the clock. The easiest and oldest get out clause in the book. This is actually the 2nd claim ive attempted, the 1st was also knocked back due to nuts and bolts not being covered, id love to know what is actually covered rather than what isn't!

This RAC approved warranty is not worth the paper its written on.
