I appreciate Lauren taking the time to understand why I started counseling sessions, my needs, and a plan moving forward.

Please please please please do not use this organization for therapeutic services. They are utterly hopeless, which is a real shame as the therapist that I had for three short sessions was excellent.
I worry about people really struggling with their mental health and becoming affiliated with this organization. The lack of support, the lack of transparency, the untrained staff, the call centers who provide no support or cannot comprehend basic requests, the lack of communication, the lack of accountability. You're meant to be providing supportive mental health services, you're probably exacerbating the issues that your clients face with your complete ineptitude.
Throughout my experience, there was no explanation of costs. It was never mentioned at any point during at least 10 communications. During numerous conversations with Thriveworks, they advised that there MAY be a co-pay and the amount usually totals $50.00, this is also confirmed on their website. I had some insurance delays as Thriveworks was effectively out of network and it took a few weeks for the issues to resolve. When the insurance issues were resolved, I was staggered to see that Thriveworks began charging my credit card this month. The initial intake session conducted on 01/10 cost $395.00. In all my discussions with Thriveworks, email communication, and the contract that I signed, $395.00 was never mentioned. Even on their website, the initial session is advertised as costing $220.00 in the state of Maryland. The therapist also did not discuss the charge with me at any point during the session. The second session on 01/10 then cost a staggering $250, again I was not advised of the costs, and this amount is once again considerably higher than the costs listed on the Thriveworks website.
I have called the billing number for Thriveworks and go around in circles when I request justification for the amounts charges and clarification why I was never advised in advance of the charges. They cannot provide an answer and I end up being on phone for 30 minutes each time.
I've had to raise a complaint with Better Business Bureau.
UPDATE on 06/07/2024 - I just wanted to share that although Thrive Works will reach out to each complaint on this website, it's nothing more a pointless token gesture. No one responds when you send a message to the email address provided.

I have asked someone to call me . Dr Scott Heine didn’t send me any contact info so we have no way to contact him . I am very floored at this whole experience but hey he definitely made one of us think it was all his decision and it is ok to stonewall, silent treatment , be verbally and emotionally abusive to me . I don’t know how to cancel this next session but wonder if I should keep it and just tell him what happened and what Bobby said about his suggestions and “ homework “ as soon as he got off phone .
My email to you all said someone would reach out - no one has reached out -
Now my individual therapist and I talked the first time and will again this week but that part was just fine .
Thanks

Horrible billing department. I read a lot about how disastrous it is, but now that I've experienced it myself, I can speak from personal experience. First, they created two accounts for me. I called three times to delete the duplicate one, but it was never fixed. Then, I received an email stating that I have an overdue balance of $130 as a deductible, despite the fact that my insurance has no deductible. The next day, I got an email with an overdue balance of $750. I called the same morning, and they said it's $0. Each person gives a different number. There is no clear system and no seriousness in handling money. If you want stress, Thriveworks is the best place to be.

I was over charged!!! They billed my insurance for a provider i didn't see and was out of network. The one i did see was in network and would have been covered. So thriveworks charged me $500. They have been a complete nightmare to get InTouch with. I have sent all the records they have asked for and all i get was "someone will call me back" and no one ever does. This has been going on for over a year now.

I would give a 0 if possible. So I went looking for a psychiatrist and therapist. I made it clear that I need insurance to cover this and I could not pay much. They claimed to have check this and assured me I was (fully) covered. Not the case. I had found a bill for thriveworks and thankfully it was not payed because my card expired. Now they will ask if you want to make monthly payments they send you an email claiming how they are not responsible for finding out if you are covered. Exact quote of email: "Disclaimer: Prior to scheduling, it is the client's responsibility to contact their insurance company to confirm that the provider they'd like to work with is covered under their plan and to determine their exact financial responsibility — Thriveworks is not responsible for confirming coverage or determining coverage amounts. The client is responsible for any non-covered costs, including but not limited to co-pays and deductibles OR the full out-of-pocket session cost if their insurance does not cover it. After an insurance claim has been processed, the remaining balance is due." So that means the person on the phone when I first called misrepresented the facts in order to get me to sign up. They will not tell you to contact your insurance company. They will assure you that you are covered then charge you after the fact. AVOID THESE SCUMBAGS! Note they also will not allow you to set up an appointment without working payment! This is so they can charge you behind your back BEWARE!!!

When Thriveworks did not update insurance on their new EIN, I was billed over $1000. They were TERRIBLE to deal with. So much that I am leaving the company even thought my therapist is AMAZING.

I had called to end the services I was receiving from Thriveworks, because I was dissatisfied. Even though I called more then 24 hours before my next appointment that was scheduled, I was sent a rather large bill in the mail later on. I don't know if this is because the person I spoke with misunderstood me, or entered in something incorrect on their computer. I just wanted to stop getting services from Thriveworks, and now I have this ridiculous bill to pay. I would recommend for people seeking counseling to look elsewhere.

Giving them a one star is one too many. I assisted with paying my goddaughters bill. I said one time payment and asked that my card not be on file. They of course took my card number and ran it for additional charges. They are refusing to give me a refund and take my card off even though they know it's against the law.

Therapist and convenience is great, BUT the billing and customer service is horrible! They can't fix the system so that I can make payments, didn't even know I had a bill (I thought insurance paid in full) until it racked up, then they cancelled my appointment with no notice though I still have no access to pay it! Twice they told me they were escalating it and of course not done yet! Very unprofessional and uncaring, when that only causes more stress!

I attended the initial consultation for my son, his mother, and Kelly Clemente (therapist). As I arrived 1st, the therapist took all my information and I asked to be kept in the loop as far as communication and updated progress. As I was not able to attend his therapy sessions as my X-wife, knowingly picked a location that was too far for me to attend. After a few weeks of not receiving updated progress, I reached out to inquire about progress, and after a week of no reply, I called and left a message. I called the main # and was told that the therapist did not put me on the account which seems fishy as I was there for the initial consultation so it appears that she is working with my X wife not to provide an updated status. This is very unprofessional and like many of the other reviews, it appears that this is not a professional or ethical establishment.

Some of the coldest customer service I've ever experienced. Probably the worst, especially considering we are talking about therapy here. People like me are already struggling with something. I loved my therapist, but I absolutely hate this company. Reeks of greed. I had a work situation come up and had to miss an appointment. I understand there is a charge for 48 hour cancellations, so I get why I was charged for that. However, they automatically rescheduled the appointment without asking me and it happened to fall on another day that I had a work event. I didn't see the emails because I was away on a business trip at the time. They could have called me and asked if it was ok to schedule that day. When I tried to cancel within a 48 hour window, they kept me on hold 5-6 different times across a 30 minute call, only to calmy and coldy act as if they don't care, telling me I would once again be charged another $135 back-to-back after missing the new appointment. The customer service rep sounded like a robot... I doubt their heart rate increased at all while I emotionally explained my feelings and my situation, only to get the exact same scripted responses each and every time. It doesn't even make sense, because they would make more money from me by keeping me as a customer. They would get that $135 back in no time. Instead, I cancelled my account with them and will actively warn people from using Thriveworks. I feel like I lost a friend by losing my therapist... I just can't give this terrible company another dollar.

I found Danielle Frederickson, LCSW on Psychology Today's therapist list.
Had a few sessions and thought she was capable if somewhat depressed. A few sessions in, she went on a rant accusing me of noxious things I'd never said. Then, after the rant, she told me that she was finished with me 15 minutes into the session. Despite contacting her through Psychology Today, she told me that she works for Thriveworks. I tried to contact Thriveworks several times. They gave me a case number but did not reply. I am deeply upset about Ms. Fredrickson's appalling, hurtful, unprofessional behavior.

They cancelled all my future couples counseling appointment after 1 session because a supervisor thinks they know better than the people who booked the appointment. Very unprofessional

I reached out to Thriveworks to get assistance for a teen to help manage anxiety. We met with Dawn Seeburger and agreed that they would have a session every other week in the evening (agreed to 7 but changed to 6:45 and that was fine). The teen had a meet and greet session during the day and one scheduled session in the evening. The very next two were canceled by Dawn. The first cancellation was followed by an offer to reschedule at 1:30 in the afternoon the next day because she was not feeling well. I explained we are working during the day but we will keep the next scheduled appt. This is a direct quote of the request and response of our texts regarding her cancelling again:
Her: Hi, I need to cancel (Name)'s session for tomorrow evening. I can offer 3:30 tomorrow if that works for (name)?
Me: We both work during the day and are unable to make an appt that is not later. That's the reason we agreed to the every other (day of the week) evening. This is the second scheduled appt you have cancelled. I understand life happened but you need to offer a reschedule that is in line with our regularly scheduled time, even if you need to change the day of the week. Please advise.
Her: I typically don't offer evening appointments and was making an exception with those bi weekly (day of week). And yes, cancelations may arise on either end. I can put in a referral for someone else who may have more consistent evening times. My schedule is set and does not include evenings.
Me: Honestly, you should not have agreed to an evening schedule if you do not include evening appts.
Disgusted with her attitude and feel you should read more reviews before selecting her as a therapist.

I had signed up with a career coach and had a number of good sessions. I had to miss one session due to a work conflict. My therapist had to cancel a session on me as well. I started to get texts from my old FSA provider that failed charges for $120 were coming through. I tried to reach customer service but was on hold forever and then left my number for a call back, which I never got. I ended up finding out from my coach that it was a late cancellation fee. They continued to try to charge my old FSA account. I was finally able to reach Customer Service and they said they would not waive the fee. I said then I would not be doing business with them ever again. A horrible customer service experience.

I logged in to write a review of Thriveworks and was amazed to read another review that captured almost word for word my sentiments. Therapist is awesome, company is terrible. My teenage daughter's appointments were cancelled without warning, and when I immediately called to get support, it was an off-shore call center, and the agent knew nothing and could do nothing. Even though the billing issue was resolved and they actually had access to my credit card the whole time, they refused to put my daughter's appointment back on the schedule, citing some 48 hour company policy. Agent refused to allow me to speak to any other person, saying they were "all in meetings." She was entirely unhelpful and unfriendly. Very frustrating and saddening, as this company is in the business of mental health.
I had another experience previously when my daughter had strep throat, and I called to cancel AT LEAST 24 hours in advance, but they have a hard line, non-negotiable 72 hour cancellation policy, so they charged me a ridiculous fee to cancel.

Found multiple psychologists counselors that are listed as accepting Medicare and then are redirected to this website where the same exact people do not (most likely because Medicare won’t cover thriveworks)
My advice if you find someone that appeals to you. Google them, contact them privately and skip this total scam, and pay less for same care.
