I am a DIYer and would usually use Dulux but I feel that the quality gas gone down hill (really thin and runny). I really wanted to paint the front door so was looking for a company that mixes gloss samples. That is why I went with Tikkurila. Samples were good so I bought the 3l Pica Teho. Really impressed! Dried quickly so we could get on the 3 coats we needed terracotta over black and magnolia), low sheen finish. Quick delivery and a better way of the lid attaching.

I ordered the patio paint and did everything by the instructions, 8 months in it looks awful. At the price of it I thought it would have been a lot better and at least lasted a few years. I wish I hadn't bothered wasting the money and just replaced the patio last year. I contacted the company, and they say there is nothing wrong with the product and it must have been applied to wet slabs, which it definitely was not. Don't waste your money on this product.

Extremely disappointed. Advised by my decorator to use this brand to paint the exterior windows and doors, but within a month the paint 'blew' on most of the windows. It was applied as per the tikkurila instructions. They are taking no responsiblity other than offer to supply more of their paint which I would then have to pay my decorator to reapply. Dont know what to do, expect I will end up paying to have the work redone.
..but wont be using their paint again.

Ordered two sample pots of the same paint — a standard colour from their range — and they were drastically different colours. Customer services sent a third sample for free, but seemed unconcerned and repeatedly refused to confirm they will accept returns (and bear costs) if full-size pots are wrong.

I'm not willing to take that risk, especially at premium prices.

The paint is good quality.
But this week, for the second time since I started using the company, the wrong paint shade was sent. I called and was promised delivery of the right paint before 10.30 today. It is now 11.15, the decorator is here and no paint has arrived.

Now charging 5 pound and upwards for delivery very disappointing

James at Tikkurila was exceptionally helpful in my quest for a safe fireplace paint and helped me choose the correct colour for my requirement by sending complimentary colour cards.thank you.

Truly terrible colour match. Will avoid in future. I asked for slipper satin Farrow & Ball and got a basically white paint with a tiny magnolia pigment.

Anti reflex 2 is incredible ceiling paint, goes on soo smoothly, no drips and makes a old ceiling look fantastic. I will never use anything else again

I repainted my kitchen cabinets using Helmi 10 and was not disappointed. I had previously painted them with Farrow and Ball which was awful and didn’t last very long, scratched and chipped in no time at all.
Helmi however was lovely to use and has lasted incredibly well, not a single scratch or chip after two years heavy wear ! I would definitely recommend Tikkurila Helmi 10
I am about to embark on hall, stairs, landing and lounge refurb and Tikkurila will be my go to paint. I know it’s not cheap but cost versus longevity is definitely worth it!

Helmi 30. The worst paint I have ever used. It says 1-2 coats on the tin; it took 3-4 coats to cover the the base coat and I had to lay it on really thick, causing runs etc.. Even after 4 coats I could still see the base primer Otex Akva. It also peels off with the masking tape, I suggest you score it before removing. I won't be using this product again and can't recommend this furniture paint.

Ordered gloss black paint but it wasn’t needed but as far as they are concerned it’s a mixed paint so not returnable so that’s got to now be thrown away. Ridiculous

WHITE Paint. If you're looking for a bright white. You wont get it. Their paint is durable however i was put off buying anymore, because of not being able to get a bright white / brilliant white. I dont like their choice of whites. I wish they could add a plain bright or classic brilliant white.

Tikkurila Empire oil based paint (purchased from the Paint Shed)

Beautiful smooth finish with no brush marks.
Being a thixotropic paint, I think you have to make sure the brush is well-loaded to ensure even coverage.
Touch dry in 4 to 5 hours.
Brushes seem to wash out very easily in White Spirit – more easily than when I’ve used other oil-based paints.
Described as a “semi-matt” finish I would say it’s more shiny than satin finish paints I’ve used.

Awful experience, didn’t receive items. Called twice was promised an email to be informed as I’d get items or a refund!
No items no refund, phone again same outcome, had to ring for a 3rd time said id get a refund, not much of an apology and pretty much put the phone down on me.
Edit: They did ring back earlier emails had gone to junk folder and was offered %30 off voucher. Seems like dpd were to blame but still very average and little communication!

Paint full of dirt, customer service not interested

Paint is great, however I was expecting ‘express delivery’ for my online order. It had not arrived after a week and no comms to explain why. When chased was advised it was because colour charts were out of stock. I’d rather have received the rest of my order on time without the colour card!

Be careful when ordering anything that's not white. The company breaks the UK returns law on online purchases!
I made a very big order because I am painting the whole flat and I wanted to exchange (!) one 3l can of paint for a different colour. I've been told no. I don't know what I'm going to do. Their paint is expensive and I am stuck with an ugly colour. It is really not a big problem for a big company but a big deal for a customer like me.

I ordered Helmi 10 colour matched to COAT paints. The match is great and the paint looks wonderful on our cabinets. The paint was recommended by the installer and took a while to get used to. As a DIYer I didn’t know about self levelling paint and to apply it generously but after emailing Tikkurila customer services was given some good advice and the cabinets and bookshelves have turned out great.

I also emailed for some advice on lacquer and received a response in good time. I will definitely be using Tikkurila again.

The only (slight) negatives are the paint took a few days to arrive which is longer than other paint companies I’ve been using - and I referred a friend who got 15% off but I never received any discount codes.

PAINT - I'm a DIYer who likes to get a good paint job done for myself and family, and for decades would only use one of the leading paints starting with D. However, I've found quality has diminished in recent years and became well hacked off when recently was talked into using a water base woodwork product which didn't cover well or give a particularly tough finish. In looking on youtube I came across a professional giving Tikkurila glowing reviews for various finishes.I have now used Helmi 30 on top of Otex primer, both water based. The finish is really nice and it was good to apply, so I think I'm now sold on buying from them. I've ordered some emulsion now to see how that goes.
SERVICE - I wish everyone in this country provided the level of service I have received - first class.
