Extremely overpriced and poor service

Extremely overpriced and poor service. They're not transparent about their prices upfront, if I knew it would be that expensive, I would certainly have chosen another salon. I was charged almost 300 euros for a simple haircut and some highlights. The haircut wasn't very nicely done, with curls were uneven and the hair still looked pretty flat after the blow dry. I used to pay less than 100 euros for the same thing in another salon and my hair would still look nicer than this.

Very disappointed

Very disappointed. First of all I was waiting 45 minutes before I had my hairdresser come to wash my hair, offering me a head massage, I stupidly accepted it. I felt like I was being man handled while my hair line felt like it was being pushed back. To then have my hair very poorly cut after growing it for 6months. Setting me back £75 bloody pound. Then had to go to get another hair cut as my hair remained in my bloody eyes. I thought I would be safe going to a hair salon with such a good reputation. Unfortunately you can’t get refunds in these type of situations, and even then I still wouldn’t be satisfied.

Amazing haircut from Viktor and lovely hospitality from the moment I walked through the door. I have left feeling uplifted and so happy with the cut!! Thank you so much!
I had a longer ladies’ cut and finish, which included a great wash and head massage where I almost fell asleep.
I recommend this salon and Viktor in particular (although I’m sure they are all brilliant.)

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received during my recent hair color appointment.

I requested Wella Zero Ammonia in dark natural brown; however, during the application, my eyes began to burn. This leads me to believe that the correct product may not have been used.

Furthermore, I found the staff to be unskilled. Hair color was smeared onto my skin during the process. Although I pointed this out to the stylist, I was told it would be removed later, but the final result was unacceptable.

Due to this experience, I will not be returning to your salon and cannot recommend your services to others.

Avoid this salon for a female haircut at all costs!

If you are female with short hair in need of a hair cut in Rome, AVOID this hair salon at all costs. Amateur hair cutters would do a better job than these folks. I even showed them photos of how my hair should be cut and they couldn't manage a decent cut.

Couldn’t work with my hair

I visited Toni & Guy CROYDON for a quick fringe trim after having a disappointing experience with another stylist. I called beforehand to check if they accepted walk-ins and was told that they did.

When I arrived, I was greeted by Lucy, the salon manager and a senior stylist. For context, I am a Black woman and I currently have a sewn-in weave made with human hair. I was simply hoping the salon could help tidy up my fringe.

During the initial consultation Lucy asked if my hair was synthetic. I explained that it was human hair. However, she asked me the same question two more times, which started to make me feel quite uncomfortable. When I asked why she kept asking despite me confirming that my hair was human hair, she explained that the salon uses special scissors costing around £600 and that they would only use them on human hair supplied by them.

I later checked the Toni & Guy website and could not find anything in their terms and conditions stating this policy. The way the conversation was handled made me feel uneasy and the undertone of the interaction didn’t sit well with me.

Lucy then briefly spoke with another stylist who was off the shop floor. When she returned, she explained that the stylist would be happy to help but would need to use an “old pair of scissors” as Lucy described. Although the other hairstylist was willing to help, I felt uncomfortable about the situation and decided to leave the salon without going ahead with the service.

A few minutes later, after reflecting on the interaction, I decided to return to the salon because I felt it was important to calmly explain to Lucy how the conversation had made me feel. I explained that during that short interaction I felt greatly offended, particularly as the conversation had taken place in front of other customers. Lucy did take some accountability and acknowledged that she may have used the wrong language. She said she probably should have referred to them as “alternative scissors” rather than suggesting “old scissors.”

After the visit, I searched the website and was quite surprised to discover that Lucy is the salon manager. While she may produce great work as a stylist, the interaction suggested that her people skills could be improved. Unfortunately, this also made me question whether this might reflect a wider issue within the salon.

Hair salons serve clients from many different backgrounds, races and hair textures. Because of this, it is important that staff approach these interactions with care, sensitivity and professionalism. My intention in sharing this experience is not to criticise the salon’s technical policies, but to highlight how the way something is communicated can significantly impact how a client feels. I hope this feedback is taken constructively so that future clients do not leave feeling the way I did.

Nearly £100 for a Ruined Haircut – Toni & Guy

Worst haircut I’ve ever had by Gino at Toni & Guy at Woking and they charged me nearly £100 for it. As I complained about the awful haircut, I was told by the receptionist to book in with the director to fix it. Another trip to the salon, director Linnea didn’t fix it instead, cut my hair far shorter than I asked for. It felt careless and completely unprofessional. For a salon that markets itself as premium, the quality of the cut and the overall service were shocking. Paying that kind of money and walking out with a terrible haircut is bad enough, but being asked on payment for tips on top of it is ridiculous. Toni & Guy get a grip, focus on hiring skilled, professional staff instead of charging people premium prices for disappointing results. Disappointed doesn’t even begin to cover it. I won’t be going back to Toni & Guy again. Avoid at any costs. Total waste of money and time.

Vivian has been colouring my hair for many years she ensures you have a confidence in her. Very calm!
I’m not really phased by the hair spa downstairs at the end of the day it’s a hair wash. More importantly is the confidence one gains from the stylist

An excellent and unexpected experience.

My hairdresser has moved away, and I was searching for someone who could understand and work with my hair type. Finding a skilled hairdresser who genuinely listens and meets your needs can be quite challenging. I have fine hair with a strong yellow pigment, and I tried many professional salons, but no one could quite handle my hair’s unique needs. I was almost ready to give up hope of having beautiful highlights and a fabulous cut. However, I decided to give it one last try and found an exceptional, highly skilled hairstylist named Ana, who was able to work and achieve the best results with my hair type. I highly recommend her if you want to look smart and stand out with a stunning, eye-catching style.

WORST HAIRCUT EVER!

I would give them less than 1 star if I could. I visited the Croydon Salon of Toni & Guy and saw Lauren apparently she is a Senior Stylist but you would not know it by the way that she has cut my hair. I had long beautiful hair below my waist and she hacked away at it even though I made it very clear during the consultation that I wanted to keep the length and the longest layer to my waist. When I complained to Toni & Guy by email they refused to help me and did not give me a refund or anY vouchers which is totally unfair. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT THIS AWFUL AND OVERPRICED SALON. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER GOOD AND CHEAPER HAIR SALONS. I DO NOT WANT WHAT HAPPENED TO ME TO HAPPEN TO YOU.

Big thank you to James at the Islington branch who had recently moved from the closed Shoreditch branch. He really knows his stuff, gave solid advice and a fantastic hair cut. Great to meet someone who is so passionate about what they do. Thank you James!

Sad premises and not staff to cover illness

Dorchester Salon - Appointment cancelled the day before due to illness - quite understandable but this was the third time this has happened in the last 2 years. Although a replacement appointment was offered for the colour (but there was no record of the type of colour used on the previous occasion), the cut I had booked could not be fulfilled until the following month. Also, I am sorry to say that the premises are rather sad - there is a bucket in the loo to catch the rainwater leaking through the light fitting. There is no hot water in the toilet, the paint is peeling and the hand drier does not work. The staff are all friendly, polite and obviously doing their best. Instead, I went to the Wimborne Salon today - a very different experience all round and I will be using them in future - sorry Dorchester - nothing personal!
