Disappointing Changes. Beware Reordering.

While the quality of the food items themselves have remained good, there are a number of worrying trends with the site and company. Firstly, is the unannounced changes regarding removing customizing of meals. This includes the 'Extra Protein' options that were once available for most dishes. Secondly, I placed an order before knowing this change of policy, by reordering my past meals I've been getting for a long time (I've been a customer since 2021). They charged me for the full price of my re-order, customized and with extra protein, my receipts all read what I had ordered, my invoice IN the delivered package read what I had ordered, but every order was incorrect. Or rather, defaulted to "this is what the meal now comes with, and no extra protein." This was an unwelcome surprise, and there is still, as of my writing this, no notification anywhere that this change has taken place. I had to call and inquire as to why my order was 9 out of 10 items incorrect (one item, Chicken Pot Pie, never had anything to customize). I was then told that as of the new year, there will now be no customizing meals, no extra protein, or, apparently, re-ordering. Although even as I placed my revised order for this week, I could have had the same experience, and there was no safeguard to prevent it. My call did result in being offered a 50% discount on my next order (although I was unable to find a way to redeem it, for which I will have to make another call).
To their credit, I always find whoever I speak to on the phone to be polite, pleasant, and professional, and have my issues addressed. This change in policy with no notification, and one of the key things that made Top Chef Meals stand out in the beginning is incredibly disappointing, however. There are multiple social media platforms abandoned, all which could be updated to notify customers of changes.

The meals are no longer customizable

The meals used to be customizable for which vegetable and starch you wanted with the entree, but now it's like every other meal delivery service, nothing is customizable. As someone who is looking for lower carb meals, very few now will work for me which I'm quite bummed about. I really loved this company for the ability to customize. Plus on the website you can't look at the nutritional information for the 'everyday' meals, you can only see it for the 'signature' meals. The entrees are still very tasty though, as are the roasted broccoli and brussel sprouts, and the vegetable cous cous, on those entrees they come with.

The meals are great

The meals are great. No complaints on quality of meals or the shipping container/packing/temp, etc. The shipping options , however, is restrictive.

Great meals seasoned just right.

My daughter originally ordered meals for her father after his surgery. They were great. Seasoned just right. Then I ordered soup for my sister in law after she had her surgery. She loved them. Then I ordered meals for my brother in law who is 94. So since I had such great results I ordered more meals for my daughter’s mother in law to be delivered on January 5.

Great online support

Raquel worked with me to do a long distance gift certificate work. We had some computer issues and she even called me the next day to get back to me on problems we couldn't solve!

From long time customer

From long time customer, RE: lack of communication from TCM. Placed order 12/15/25, received no information as to delivery date. I had to call and was told there was a clerical issue on TCM side and order should be sometime after 1/5/26. Still have not heard from TCM. I should not have to call to get delivery information.

Placed order on 12/16/25

Placed order on 12/16/25. It is now 12/29/25 and STILL have not received order. This happened with my last order. I would like a full refund asap. Did not EVEN reach out to tell me this. I had to send them an email to find out what was going on. This was the response. Due to a clerical error in our order assignment software, some orders that were scheduled for delivery next week are being rescheduled. Please note that all orders placed after 9:00 PM on Monday, December 15 will now ship on Monday, January 5.

They have consistently disappointed in…

They have consistently disappointed in food quality and customer service. I have been purchasing Top Chef meals for years, and over time, the quality has deteriorated. There’s always a shipping issue and you’re lucky if FedEx doesn’t lose the package altogether. When you have an issue, the customer service rarely goes out of their way to resolve it and most time are apathetic and dismissive. I am never purchasing from them again and I would suggest trying other meal services.

I can’t personalize my mom’s meals…

I can’t personalize my mom’s meals anymore. She 96 and this was an excellent meal plan for her. But now it’s harder not so many choices and I can’t change the potato and vegetables to what she likes. The breakfast too. But overall my mom lives alone and she has a meal when I can’t get there with my food. .

Healthy and delicious

Healthy, delicious, customizable meals at a reasonable price. I love being able to pick them up at the Elmsford facility. Staff there are friendly and helpful.

Been ordering meals for my elderly…

Been ordering meals for my elderly parents and they like the food. Saves time for me not to cook for them daily. But, I ordered meals on 12 15 2025 in time to beat the holiday rush and was very disappointed. I was told by an email not sent with the company's name, so I didn't open it not knowing who was sending the message only to find out my parent's meals were not being delivered until January 7th, 2026. How can a company do this? I am now going to look into a finding a new company for meals. I am so upset and disappointed!
