While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

Topscan is continuous security monitoring for the person who owns security among other things — usually a CTO, a Head of DevOps or a lead developer at a company up to 200 people. Most companies don't lose to a sophisticated attack. They lose to the host nobody wrote down: an old cloud instance still running, a forgotten subdomain still answering, a certificate that quietly expired. So we made the unglamorous part the product — the inventory, the schedule, the order of work, and the evidence. What we built, in five steps: 1. Discover. Public certificate transparency logs, DNS and one ordinary HTTP request per host map what actually faces the internet — including the assets nobody wrote down. Most teams find more out there than they expected. 2. Confirm. Nothing is scanned until you say it's yours. Port checks and active templates run only against targets you have explicitly confirmed. 3. Scan. The perimeter, the web applications running on it, and the code behind them: external infrastructure scanning, web app scanning, TLS/SSL certificate monitoring, static code analysis with committed secrets and dependency CVEs, and AWS discovery for EC2 and Route 53. 4. One list. Findings ordered CRITICAL to LOW, each with the affected target, the evidence that produced it, a recommended fix and an SLA deadline. Snooze what you accept, kill false positives, keep the dated history. Repositories connect from GitHub or GitLab, scans trigger from your own CI/CD webhook, and from Advanced findings route into Slack and Jira. 5. Report. One security score from 0 to 100, and the remediation record an audit conversation needs. Four things we deliberately don't do: touch anything before you confirm it's yours; exploit what we find; describe unreleased features in the present tense; or promise you compliance — we produce the evidence auditors ask for, and whether it satisfies your scope is your auditor's call. The price is on our website rather than behind a demo call. Plans start at $129 a month and cover code, applications and the perimeter in one subscription. Scans and users are unlimited, read-only seats for auditors are free, and the 14-day trial is the full Advanced plan with no card. Customer data lives in the Hetzner cloud in Ashburn, Virginia. Only our Head of DevOps can reach production, and every action is logged. Nothing goes to third parties, including third-party AI services. Source code is cloned for the scan and the clone is deleted afterwards. A SOC 2 audit is under way, tracked in Drata. Leave, and everything is removed within 180 days. If you use Topscan, we'd rather hear where it fell short than where it impressed you. That's the part we act on.

Regular checks on our app without the hassle

We run a custom portal and a few APIs, and I wanted them checked regularly without it depending on me remembering. Topscan scans the web app and the servers behind it on a schedule, overnight, so it doesn’t get in anyone’s way. The first web scan turned up missing security headers and an outdated JavaScript library on the login page. Small things, but exactly what I want to hear about. Results go into our slack channel. Four stars only because I would like to choose what gets posted there, say Critical and High in the main channel and the rest somewhere else.

A good fit for a small technical team.

We do not have a dedicated security engineer, so most security work is shared between DevOps and engineering leadership. Before TopScan, that meant a lot of manual checking and a family fragmented process. What improved most for us was visibility. We can see what is exposed to the internet, track vulnerabilities and understand what has changed without jumping between several tools. The prioritisation is also useful because not every finding deserves the same amount of attention. There are still areas that could become more advanced over time, especially around reporting, but the core product already solves a very practical problem for us. It gives us a structured security process without a complicated enterprise bureaucracy.

Helped us stop checking security in five different places.

We had a pretty typical setup for a small SaaS company: some cloud tools, dependency checks and alerts, occasional external scans. Several different tools without a general, clear view of what was actually exposed. TopScan made that much easier. Now we have one place to check services, vulnerabilities, and the whole attack surface. I also like that it focuses on what needs attention on the Dashboard, instead of showing a massive list and leaving us to sort it out.
