Learning material is good, very informative and useful. However, I have some concerns regarding the test and simulator.
First, I experienced issues with the camera during the test, which did not allow me to complete it. Many thanks to the support team for their quick response, but unfortunately, the problem was not resolved. In the end, I had to use another computer with a different OS to pass the test (no issues with the camera were found on that system).
Second, I would like to comment on the test questions. In my opinion, some of them are quite strange. As I remember from the previous version of the ECDIS course, the questions were related to the real use of the equipment (for example, how to create a route, how to check distance, etc.), and it was possible to use the simulator while answering. This approach clearly demonstrated practical skills.
Now, it seems necessary to memorize information that is not particularly useful in practice and that is not emphasized during the course (for example, types of chart sorting, safety contour colors, etc.). This information is always available within the ECDIS system itself. In my opinion, it is more important to know how to change these settings and how to use or order charts in real situations.
Finally, I have a question regarding the simulator. There was no access to one of the most important parts of ECDIS — the Chart Manager — despite there being many test questions about it. It was not possible to open it during the simulation.
Overall, the course is very good, and I appreciate the effort put into it. Thank you for the training. This is one of my favorite ECDIS systems.
