Purchased (two months prior to travel)…
Purchased (two months prior to travel) a competitive "looking" hotel stay at Nomade, Tulum, Mexico through the Trivago site. The charge went through and booking confirmed. 3 Weeks prior to my trip I received a cancellation notice from the property Nomade Hotel in Tulum for my booking. Not initiated by me. Nomade stated that I would be downgraded to a "tent" from a Garden suite that was paid for unless I paid $400 more for another type of room to avoid being assigned a "tent". I notified Trivago, and they tried to load the issue on Nomade despite their having taken the initial booking, and took the funds. They did nothing to retrieve the funds or maintain the original booking. Offered a credit on their platform. I will never use Trivago again. Not trustworthy. Not likely to go to Nomade in Tulum, either. Trust is so foundational to a business and both these complains have lost mine.
