TRIVAGO

TRIVAGO. Your commission is more important than your customers. Booked Raffles Dubai 5 nights thru your website with Algotels £1025 confirmed booking (allegedly) when we got there after 24 hrs traveling, there was no room booked, afterwards checked Trustpilot, many reports of this scenario. we would not have booked this had it not been thru Trivago. Trivago, you are working with a SCAM company. Enjoy your commission.

Terrible

Terrible, terrible, terrible. I can’t say that enough. Tried to book online 3 times with 3 different cards, error messages each told me to call the customer service number. So I spent 40 minutes or more without exaggeration. It finally took my payment and said I would receive the final confirmation number via email. The email came and said that there was a technical error and the reservation didn’t complete. In the end I just paid the hotel directly. Don’t waste your valuable time and effort with this horrible company. Not to mention much frustration. Now I have to hope my money gets refunded? The company can improve buy going out of business.

Don't make an error Avoid Agoda

Booked a hotel in Jodphur India . I inadvertently put in the wrong date and booked with payment . I noticed straight away and contacted Agoda . I contacted them to cancel within 3 minutes . Now being told that the booking is non refundable . Even Ryan air allows you to amend without penalty if done within 24 hours . This is very sharp practice . Do NOT book any hotel that does not allow free cancellation . Even better avoid Agoda

DO NOT USE

I found the website confusing - so i inadvertently booked a room with cancellation - BUT it was not a cancellation policy at all - the policy was a refund policy offered by a third party - so if you book a room for the wrong dates - as i did - you cannot get a refund.

The hotel is also not booked directly so you can only deal with Stayforlong.com

I WILL NOT USE TRIVAGO, STAYFORLONG or REFUNDABLE.ME

Scammers

They are not only bad, they are actually scammers hiding behind layers of ”third-party” suppliers. Booked hotel, payed $500, came to the hotel who never heard about a booking in my name, dont get money back. The Algotels I payed to actually is ”Deals by Trivago”, so Trivago know very well they are scammers but have conviniently written that in order to book a hotel, you have to agree that they have NO obligation to actually give you the hotel room and no obligation to pay you back if they dont. STAY AWAY

Paid twice ($1,600 extra) and no one takes responsibility

I booked through Trivago and already paid for my stay in full, yet the hotel charged me an additional approximately USD $1,600, forcing me to pay twice.

Since then, Trivago has not taken responsibility. Every time I contact them, they say they are “reviewing the case,” but there has been no resolution. Meanwhile, the hotel washes its hands of the situation and directs me back to Trivago.

I have spent weeks calling and emailing back and forth between both parties with no solution. The result has been constant stress, wasted time, and money being held during and after my trip.

This is not my problem — it is a serious failure in coordination between Trivago and the hotel, yet I am the only one affected. If Trivago cannot ensure that its bookings are secure and properly handled, customers should not have to pay for anyone else’s mistakes.

Completely disappointing. I do not recommend using Trivago under any circumstances.

⭐ 1 Star

⭐ 1 Star – Hung Up On, Lied To, and Left Without Help

My experience with Trivago has been appalling.

What should have been a straightforward hotel booking turned into weeks of frustration, repeated phone calls, and zero accountability. Each time I contacted support, I was forced to explain the situation from the beginning because no one tracks cases or follows up.

The most disturbing part? Customer service agents repeatedly hung up on me.
Not once—multiple times—when questions became uncomfortable or when I asked for clear answers. This is not a “technical issue.” This is deliberate avoidance.

The agents were rude, dismissive, and clearly reading from scripts, offering the same copy-paste responses by email with no actual resolution. A supervisor even promised a same-day callback on a recorded call—then disappeared entirely. No call. No email. No explanation.

Trivago constantly shifts blame to “partners” while taking zero responsibility for errors shown on their own platform. Customers are left stuck in the middle, wasting hours, while Trivago does nothing except delay.

If you enjoy being told “we are escalating this” while nothing happens—and being hung up on when you push back—this is the service you’ll get.

This was my first and last experience with Trivago. They didn’t just fail to help—they made the situation worse and treated the customer with complete disregard.

Avoid Trivago if you value your time, money, or basic respect

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE AND…

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE AND WILL NOT GIVE A REFUND EVEN IF ITS THEIR FAULT. RESERVATION GOT CANCELLED AND WASNT EVEN ABLE TO GET MY REFUND BACK. IT TAKES FOREVER TO EVEN GET IN TOUCH WITH SOMEONE TO TALK TO. THEY SAY IF WILL TAKE 3-10 DAYS FOR THEM TO REVERSE THE CHARGES AND IT DOESNT HAPPEN.

False advertising

Trivago advertised a holiday for £111 per night, for our planned dates of travel. When I clickes to book, the price went up 300% on the TUI website. TUI are blaming Trivago and Trivago are blaming TUI. Neither are willing to honour the price or send me their price guarantee policy. After seeing the reviews, I believe it probably IS a scam to get traffic to their sites.

Scammed too

Scammed too. I believed I was booking through Trivago but only realised it wasn’t when the receipt for the payment arrived. Looked up the reviews and felt sick! Immediately phoned my credit company and the payment had been accepted. The only confirmation I have is that Algotels have my money but it states in bold on the receipt “ it is not confirmation of the booking”? What did I actually pay for then? It’s a celebration holiday for my 60th birthday and I was paying for my son, who I haven’t seen for 3 years to join us. Now this can’t happen. I’m gutted as are the other family members joining me. How can you do this to people???? It’s disgusting. -10 stars would be more appropriate.
Makes me very mad everytime I see the adverts on tv about Trivago. So much for being a reputable business!!

Corrupted link

Tried to book a hotel in Austria and got redirected to a booking site for a studio in Madeira. And booked without noticing. Now a hotel in Madeira has no guests and we have no room in Austria. Booking was unrefundable but i have no idea where to go to get my transaction cancelled except the bank. Trivago states everywhere that they're just the meta search engine but if they give you corrupted links i think they should be taking their responsibility. At least they should have a customer service or other way of reporting these so they can be tracked and solved!

Disappointing and over priced

Sinah Warren - Christmas
For the price we paid, we had we expected better than a Cold room, thin quilt, and cold food. The menu has been no different to any other time of year.
The staff are, as usual, lovely.

Scammers

I booked a hotel for a specific date (January 16th) but at checkout, the Trivago website reverted to today's date and booked and charged me a hotel for today's date instead of the date I would be travelling. When I notified Trivago, they refused to change the date to the correct date, even when I provided evidence of their own automated emails to my account prompting me to book for January 16th. There is also no number to call from Canada and customer support is slow, so if you were in an urgent situation they would not be reliable. Stick to Expedia and don't trust this company.

SCAM - took money without providing a service

I booked a hotel reservation through the trivago website but then received a confirmation email from a company that had never been mentioned during the transaction. The company is called algotels. I immediately was concerned and saw online that many others have encountered the same issue. I called the hotel and they told me there was no reservation under my name. I then had to call my bank to dispute the fraudulent charge. Luckily my bank was very understanding. I also called algotels as a courtesy to alert them. They said they will escalate the situation but I have no faith in their honor. I guess trivago's marketing team deserve a raise for pushing their commercials so heavily because I had never used this company to book before. Now I know never to use them and will make sure my loved ones don't either.
