Booked a hotel in downtown Atlanta

Booked a hotel in downtown Atlanta. When I went to check in, I was told I'd been moved to another, much less nice, hotel in the suburbs about 20 minutes away. Aside from the fact that I'd reserved parking in a lot near the original hotel, no refund or discount of any kind was offered. Trivago marked my complaint as resolved without doing anything to make good on the issue.

I paid for a hotel right downtown, with an indoor pool, a full restaurant in the lobby, and a jacuzzi tub in the room. Instead I spent the weekend 20 minutes from downtown, in a hotel with no food on sight, an outdoor pool that was closed for the season, and obviously no jacuzzi tub. Not receiving a partial refund for an obvious downgrade was more than unacceptable.

Zero stars

Zero stars. Do not use trivago deals. Booked a hotel, got no confirmation. Had to search the website for a reference number. Decided to change the dates on the hotel, but could never talk to anyone. Left a message on their customer service line, never got a response. I searched the reference number on the site, it said cancelled, but I have no clue if it was booked at all. I put a freeze on the credit card. I still haven't heard anything from them

Don’t use them

Don’t use them. They’re a scam. You select a date and then the system sets a different date while in the process of booking. I realized immediately and called them. They promised me they would have a resolution within 48 hours. I received an email and said no refund. I’m out over $225. Terrible terrible dishonest company.

Trivago Does Not Provide Reputable Booking Sites

I would give zero stars if I could. Do not believe the snappy commercials. I did and thought I would use them to find a hotel for a busy college town weekend stay. They showed a listing for a hotel I recognized with a booking site (Stayforlong) that had a competitive price given lack of availability. Stayforlong had positive commentary on reddit and I trusted that Trivago wouldn't use a booking site if they were fraudulent. However, I was wrong. Stayforlong required prepayment ($2256 USD) but the hotel never got the reservation or the money from Stayforlong that I paid them. The hotel did not have a room for me when I arrived and I had to scramble to find a room late on a Friday night with most hotels sold out. Stayforlong never responded to my emails. Trivago responded but stated it was something I needed to resolve with Stayforlong directly. They had no comment about providing an unreputable site or about removing them as a booking site they used for listings. My bank is now investigating Stayforlong for fraud and hopefully I will get my payment refunded. Do not trust Trivago to provide reputable booking sites and do not trust them to help you get resolution for fraudulent booking sites they offer on their site.

Trivago ads are exaggerated

Tried them once for a Hotel in Plattsburgh NY and got scammed. No way 35% savings shown in sickening Trivago ads that are so repetitive on Tubi. I can see they have many other major problems.

Stressful Booking Experience

I booked a hotel through Trivago because the deal looked great, but it turned into a frustrating experience. After completing my booking, I realized the dates or details were wrong, and it was almost impossible to reach proper
customer support.

It was confusing to know who to contact, and I didn’t receive clear help . I expected a smoother process and better communication since Trivago promotes trusted deals. Unfortunately, this experience made me lose confidence in booking through their platform.

I hope Trivago improves how they handle partner bookings and ensures customers can get quick, clear help when problems arise. I expected consideration because its my first time to deal with their site.

Beware if booking after a Trivago search!!!

After consulting Trivago, were directed to a great offer on a website called Algotels!

We had to pay upfront and received a booking confirmation & prepaid voucher from Algotels. Can you imagine how we felt when we arrived to check in to find that no reservation had been made in our name? We have tried many times to contact the company for a full refund, without any success!

We have since checked the reviews for Algotels - all terrible! I cannot understand why Trivago give room on their website for this company!

Unfortunately, after this experience, we will definitely think twice before using Trivago for hotel bookings again!

Trivago is a No Go…

Not priced competitively enough to use over a hotels app, changes to reservation not honored in my case. Consider another option when booking your hotel.

Scam partners

Scam partners.
Word of warning. When you use the Book and Go feature on trivago they use a booking service named algotels. Algotels is a scam website that is famous for taking your money and not following through with your reservation. Or canceling it for no reason. The Book and Go is usually the lowest price but don't do it.

⚠️ BEWARE – WE WERE ROBBED AT GUNPOINT! ⚠️

⚠️ BEWARE – WE WERE ROBBED AT GUNPOINT! ⚠️

Stay Date: October 18, 2025
Location: LEVEL Hotel, Downtown Los Angeles, California

I’m writing this review as a serious warning to anyone considering staying at LEVEL Hotel Downtown LA. My husband and I were robbed at gunpoint right in front of this property, and the hotel’s lack of concern and follow-up has left us traumatized and deeply disappointed.

We arrived on Saturday, October 18, 2025, to attend the rooftop movie event. The movie was sold out, but we decided to enjoy the property anyway and booked a one-bedroom suite for the night. About four hours later, we went outside to get a phone charger from our car.

As we were returning, a car sped toward us and blocked the entrance. Six armed men jumped out and pointed guns at us, demanding everything we had. I tried to swipe my key card to get inside, but the door locked automatically. We were trapped outside, terrified.

Security only came out as the robbers were leaving. The guard apologized and admitted they had seen what was happening, saying, “This has happened before,” and even mentioned a previous guest who was beaten during a similar attack.

I immediately went to the front desk to explain that I didn’t feel safe and wanted a refund. I was told only a manager could handle that — but the manager wasn’t there until the next morning. When I returned, I was passed from one manager to another until I finally spoke with “Hadi,” who said he’d call me back within 24 hours. It’s now been a week later, and the issue is still unresolved. Got Trivago involved they only passed me around also not giving the refund

Hotel also refused to give me a copy of the incident report, and despite being told the police would be contacted, no report was filed. I truly believe the staff avoided calling to prevent alarming other guests.

To make matters worse, the area outside the hotel is unsafe. People hang out in front of the entrance all night, drinking and smoking, and non-guests freely walk in and out of the lobby. Security only watches the valet area — not the main door where the attacks happen.

I paid $295 for the room, and didn’t even enjoy the stay the because we feared for our safety. There’s no complimentary breakfast, and no effort from management to make things right.

We recently lost our son to violence less than a year ago, so this experience was even more painful. No one should have to go through this — especially while paying for what’s advertised as a “luxury” stay.

This property may look beautiful, but the surrounding area is dangerous, and management is unresponsive and unempathetic. Please, BEWARE AND STAY SAFE. Your life is worth more than a “luxury” stay.

Trivago terrible customer service

I was working between Trivago and Booking.com for the best deal. I put my date in both sites when I switched back to Trivago it looked like the best deal. I didn't realize the site put in a different date just 5 days away. My actual reservation was suppose to be almost 3 months out. Unfortunately I didn't notice this until I hit confirm. Immediate I realize what happened and searched and found their customer support and called them. My request has been file now 5 days, they said they would contact me in at most 48 hours. I did receive an automated reply it says ("Your request (13218087) has been updated. To add additional comments, reply to this email). Now I have been trying to confirm my date has been updated via email, but keep getting this same response. I did call again only to find my date has not been changed. Their customer service says they can only escalate requests to their urgent response team. You can not talk to this team you only get automated responses that don't make sense. My rating should be "0" Do not use Trivago!!! Terry
