I enjoyed working with Troubador to publish my novel. They have clear pricing and there was no pressure to buy additional services. Communication was good, with useful guides at each step of the process. Staff were friendly and professional and answered any questions promptly. My published paperback looks fantastic and I am really pleased with the quality.

I used Troubador to publish my previous novel. As before, everyone has been extremely helpful in the process of publishing my new novel. Queries are dealt with efficiently and in a friendly manner. The finished book is good quality and just as I hoped for.

Publishing my first book was undeniably challenging, but it evolved into a constructive and collaborative experience. I began with self-doubt and concerns about my expertise, compounded by several publisher rejections. Those moments, however, redirected me toward Troubador Publishers, and I’m grateful they did. Writing my autobiography was the most challenging things I have ever undertaken in my long life. However, if I thought if that was going to be a challenge to get it published, I thought would probably turn into a nightmare. I'm trying to self-publish my book and sent my manuscript to Troubador after doing some research and liking what I heard about them. The first time the mistake was mine because I'd sent it in a format they couldn't open, fair enough, no harm done, so I sent it again and waited. When I finally got a response, it was this.

"Thank you for submitting your manuscript for Troubador's consideration. In my professional opinion, I think your manuscript would benefit from more editorial work than we can offer at Troubador before it is ready for publication. With this in mind, I'm afraid we won't be able to offer a quotation for self-publishing at this time. "

So I need more editing than they can offer? I understand my manuscript is long, and I'd be happy to cut it down even further. But just what exactly kind of response is this? Because it sounds like you're admitting that you're not competent enough to deal with it.

I openly admit my grammar and punctuation most likely need some work, but I put this down to English being my second language and attending a school where they were more focused on getting me into sports than actually teaching me anything.

I've since read another review on here, and I see the same line was parroted out to someone else. Unlike him, though, I do not consider my book to be offensive to anyone, and one of the main characters is a member of the LGBTQ community. Please note, I am not saying Trobador is anti LGBTQ; my comment was more to refute the other reviewer's claim that they are.

Needless to say, all the polish I thought this place had has no substance beneath it, and I've already found somewhere else that seems happy to work with me after some work on my manuscript.

I'd previously had a book published by a conventional publisher, and was annoyed by some of the decisions that publisher took, such as the use of black & white photos instead of colour. This resulted in an inferior product. The situation with my second book, published by Troubador, was completely different. Because the author is paying the publication costs he/she has the final say. This has resulted in a book which looks exactly how I wanted it to look. The staff I dealt with were excellent, and willing to make a series of changes and corrections until the book was perfect. I would highly recommend Troubador.

Troubadour published my first novel, Overmorrow this year in both ebook and print format. They have been utterly professional but more so 100% approachable.

Whilst I understand the process of having written one's book and taking it to a publisher can be daunting, you are in safe hands and be fully satisfied with their work. They are the best self-publishing company around and they will help you through the process.
