I was a happy customer of a big bank for last 5 years and at the time of renewal my friends suggested me to shop around as the big banks like to take advantage of their "happy" relationship with lazy customers who dont shop around. Based on this advice I started shopping around and was surprised to see that my friends were so right. I tried calling all the mortgage brokers and companies who run their commercials on the radio in GTA, all of them were offering me a better rate for fixed and variable compared to my original lender but my search ended at True North Mortgage whom I accidentally discovered on an online forum. This is the best professional company you can find in Canada for your mortgage needs. Peter Esper from True North mortgage is a pleasure to work with. Not only he did his best to answer my questions regarding the transfer process, but also educated me on the basics such as a high ratio mortgage, refinancing, Heloc etc. The entire mammoth process of transferring my mortgage over from my old lender to TNM worked like a breeze. Thank you Peter, you are a gem of a person. The best thing about TNM is that they are not only the brokers but also they have their own bank, Think Financial which is an "A" lender with features better than a typical big bank such as a better prepayment limits and offers better rates. Highly recommend True North Mortgage.
Based on my recommendations two of my colleagues at work also signed up their mortgage with TNM and share a similar opinion about Peter. Way to go True North Mortgage.

I worked with Peter Esper. I am very happy with Peter and have been leveraging his expertise to make some smart mortgage switches and needs. He works with the customer and doesn't push his ideas. I like that he gives good ideas and let's me make the decision. I plan to work with Peter for future ne3ds as well.

Peter Esper has been so amazing! He’s incredibly responsive, and very patient. I’m such a pain when it comes to needing to understand every decimal point but I know he gets it. He’s also great at always closing the loop. Really can’t say enough good things, probably the best service I’ve ever received...anywhere :).

Exactly five years ago today, I got my first house, and serendipitously, happened to have done so when rates were at a low. My real estate broker had a connection at RBC that made everything very easy and I was happy with the way everything went. Five years down the road, I started doing research for this reason: I had a variable which was great until the Bank of canada started raising rates frequently. By the end, my rate had gone from 2.20 to 3.30. After rates plummeted again my rate only fell back to 2.95 which was still my last stated rate. I thought RBC would covet my business but I heard nothing until a month ago when they sent papers with all re-signing documents, with a rate of 2.45 still! I'd already done my own homework regarding lenders and repeatedly, True North came up with some of the best rates in Canada. I duely sent my information off to a website and quickly got a response that enabled me to give more information as to my circumstances. I was dealing with Peter Esper, an agent in Toronto, and I asked varying questions of him regarding the whole process, to which I was always given quick, clear responses. I felt comfortable with all the processes and we continued emailing back and forth repeatedly until I was quickly signing, online, all pertinent documentation and information. Being able to do everything online made for great convenience in terms of no travelling or time co-ordinating with his schedules, and the only person to person contact came one day before my old mortgage was ending when a signing agent came to my house and I signed all documentation needed and showed proofs of identity. To say that this whole process was fairly easy would be an understatement and I was very appreciative of Peter's attention and quick repsonses to any questions I had. I can, and will, give recommendations to anyone needing to mortgage of remortgage. A nice extra is that True North allows for 20% of one's principal to be paid per year, plus the ability to go from a variable-my recommendation at this time-to fixed at any time, no penalty incurred.

Peter Esper was attentive and helpful in following us throughout our entire process, garnering us the best rate that our real estate lawyer saw this season.
