Strap in folks and get ready to read…

Strap in folks and get ready to read about the worst customer experience of my life. I bought boots online, received them, and thought the color was a little darker than advertised, so I requested an exchange within the return/exchange window. After not hearing from them for a few weeks, I went back to my inbox to discover that their reply went to spam for some reason. I filled out the return form they sent me and didn't hear back again, so I reached out again. After another inquiry they informed me that they could not accept the RMA because it was not submitted within the 30 day return window even though I absolutely did submit the request within that window. I threatened them with a negative review and they acquiesced to accept the exchange. When I asked when the replacement boots would be shipped, they ignored my question and said that they would only refund the boots. After I received the refund I tried to purchase the other boots and my orders were getting cancelled within a few seconds of submission. I asked them why and was told it was because they were out of stock so the order was cancelled. I waited for them to be back in stock and tried again. Order cancelled. Ultimately I used another method to get the boots, but this company tried to weasel out of a return, blackballed me, lied about it, and thought I wouldn't find out. What an awful company who unfortunately makes nice boots.

Wonderfully made and comfortable. The Oxblood Double…

I ordered a pair of new Oxblood Double Shots and they are wonderful. I ordered and in 3 days I had my boots. They are very well crafted and I liked the spare leather laces they included with my purchase. I didnt need any customer service help but the website provided any info I needed before my purchase.

Disappointed in Customer Service Despite Being a Loyal Customer

I recently purchased six pairs of boots from Truman Boot within a span of two weeks. Unfortunately, one of the pairs arrived with noticeable quality control issues—uneven lines on the toe cap and a loose welt. While I was willing to keep the boots, I reached out hoping for some kind of resolution, given my repeat business and the fact that the size I needed for an exchange was no longer available.

Their only response was to offer a return for a refund, exchange, or store credit—options that didn’t work for me since I wanted to start wearing the boots right away. When I asked about an exchange later, they refused because the boots had been worn. I’ve had similar issues with other boot companies, and they’ve always stepped up to make things right.

It’s disappointing that a U.S.-based company doesn’t recognize the value of a repeat U.S. customer. Rather than address the issue, they were willing to lose a volume buyer. The boots themselves are beautiful, but customer service matters just as much as craftsmanship. Oh well—plenty of other brands out there. Guess I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

Avoid like the plague.

I have bought 8 pairs of Truman boots since mid year 2023 and the last 4 have all come out with significant cosmetic or worse, structural issues.

Whatever they are doing now, they are just smashing out low grade builds with great leathers.

If you are buying internationally, they also refuse to pay for shipping for faults that are their own.

I would avoid until their products are more reliable.

They were my favourite maker but wouldn't ever risk buying from them under their new setup.

Truman boots

I own three pairs of Truman boots. I've been wearing Truman Boots for a while now, and I’m happy with my purchase. The quality of these boots is outstanding, and the craftsmanship is evident in every stitch. I'm particularly fond of the rambler leather from C.F. Stead—it’s truly a work of art and takes years of experience to tan such a beautiful suede. The leather is not only durable but also develops a fantastic patina over time, making the boots even more unique as you wear them. The fit is snug, and it takes some time to break them in. After this is done they’re comfortable.
It's clear that Truman takes pride in producing well-built footwear that’s made to last. The thickness of the leather is more than 2mm.
One thing to note for international buyers: you’ll need to pay taxes when ordering from outside the US, which isn't the case with some other bootmakers. For me, living in Belgium, this is a downside.
Overall, I highly recommend Truman Boots to anyone looking for top-notch footwear that stands the test of time.

Don't buy outside of US

I bought a pair in 2021. The boots look stunning, and I love the variety of leathers to choose from. However, there are some things that I'm not fond of, such as the price you pay for the lack of quality control.

We are talking about minor noticeable flaws that you can indirectly see when looking at the boots and that an EE width boot has an insole size that doesn't fit the width since it's too small. So, custom insoles are needed in the boot for comfort.

You might start asking, why haven't you returned them yet? Simply put, I don't want to go through paying customs tax, shipping costs, and lead times every time. I accepted the mistake until more of the boot started falling apart. Even the toecap construction on the inside starts to release. Would not recommend; go buy some Nicks or Whites.
