Terrible service

Terrible service. Slow to reply. Driver never showed up at restaurant to pick up and deliver our order.
Did nothing to provide refund on service fee or gratuity.
Won’t order from any restaurants that use Caviar.

COVID 19 EXPOSURE

Caviar is striking couriers regarding Covid 19 by forcing them into unsafe buildings full of people EXPOSING THEM UNNECESSARILY. Hey fat Chinese girl on Berniece street in S.F. - get your fat ass outside when asked politely and have concern for safety of others.

I'd give it zero stars if I could

I'd give it zero stars if I could. Tried to order twice, neither order arrived. The only reason I even gave it a second chance is because they gave me a $20 credit after the first order never arrived. Easy for them to do I guess, since apparently their entire service is imaginary. "Here have $20 worth of imaginary food" seems like a cheap way to try to get people to give them their credit card info again. Complete scam. Avoid at all costs.

LATE, LATE, LATE, LATE DELIVERY!!!

What I sent to them...

"We placed a telephone order at 4:26 p.m. We received a text stating that the food would arrive at approximately 5:19 p.m. We did not receive the food until 5:55 p.m. We tried to get in touch with your customer service from the text that you sent us, there was no such information for us to contact you. The only we were able to call you was when we received the email that our order was delivered, which we STILL did not receive yet. This has happened to us TWO times already through your Caviar Company. You have just lost us as customers. We are so frustrated and upset that your customer service is virtually unreachable. We even called the restaurant (Havana Cuba, San Jose, CA) and on those separate incidents, the worker there said that it took a LONG time for the driver to arrive to pick up our meals. If I were able to give a 0-Star Feedback, I would've clicked on that 0-Star at least 10 dozen times, REPEATEDLY, just to get my frustrations out. So, again, you have lost some Caviar customers. I will repeat that - YOU HAVE LOST SOME CAVIAR CUSTOMERS."

Major operational kinks

They have some awesome restaurants listed so caviar was promising. Unfortunately operations are not running smoothly and I’ve had 2 significant issues (out of maybe 5 orders).

Sometimes delivery people don’t show up sometimes there are problems with the app (say your order didn’t go through but it did)

Caviar is so hit and miss it just isn't…

Caviar is so hit and miss it just isn't worth your time. On a number of occasions I have ordered and been given a delivery time. Over an hour later I will still be waiting for a driver to pick up the food. Then when the driver gets the food they will driver in the opposite direction. I have also had driver drive past my road then go over 4 miles away to make another delivery before returning to give me my food. What incompetence would have you drive past a stop. Food is often cold due to this idiotic way of directing drivers.

Caviar is shady and should be investigated

I’ve never written a bad review in my life but I think someone should seriously look into what Caviar’s shady practices are. Not only have I had an issue the majority of the time I’ve used them (missing/completely wrong items, wrong delivery location, app down for hours, customer support that closes ticket before issue is resolved, wrong info in my account that they can’t seem to correct, etc.) They remind me of the student loan predatory companies that advise and reward customer support agents for getting rid of people trying to get help by just talking in circles or cutting the chat. To the point people just get so frustrated they give up on getting their money back. The poor local merchant who had to call me bc Caviar was being unreliable again said everyone in the industry knows not to trust Caviar. They should not be allowed to exist, let alone profit or exit. I deleted the app today knowing I was never going to see the money they owed me after spending HOURS trying to get answers from their support team. Going to spend that time doing some investigative reporting instead.

Caviar deactivated my account for no…

Caviar deactivated my account for no reason after years of loyal patronage right after I took their market research survey that had earned me a $10 credit. Seems like a scam to avoid providing the credit after getting their market research from me. They are also notorious for taking advantage of customers, drivers, and restaurant partners. One customer was scammed out of $120, her story from Reddit is as follows: "Caviar fraudulently charged my bank account nearly $120 and refuses to refund the charges. TLDR; pretty much the title. My account was “hacked” and charged nearly $120. I was in touch with the company within 15 minutes and a week and a half later I haven’t received my money back. About a week and a half ago, over Veteran’s Day weekend, I received a push notification from a food delivery app I use maybe once every six months. This app has my card saved to my account (probably a stupid decision, I know), so when the person hacked my account they could easily change the delivery address and contact info but use my card information to pay for their order. I received an order confirmation email and was confused because I didn’t place an order. I immediately logged into my account to contact customer services. Within 20 minutes a second order went through, for a restaurant across the country, that would’ve been impossible for me to accept both orders. I disputed the charges with Caviar (the food delivery app) and they quickly disabled my account and said if I wanted to use the app again I would have to create a new account. This is where the nightmare begins. Because I use a small credit union in a state I no longer reside in, it was impossible to reach someone over the holiday weekend. Caviar doesn’t have a telephone customer service line, and instead uses email for all disputes. For over a week and half, I’ve been told my account will see a refund in 5-7 business days. Today they told me it’s impossible to refund me since my account has been disabled and because the order was “fulfilled” so it has to go through their investigations department. I have been in touch with my bank but it’s a slow process. With further research I’ve realized this has happened to a ton of people, and have filed a claim with the BBB and the FTC. $120 is a lot of money to me. I live in a HCOL area with an okay paying job, but it’s the slow season at work and that money was specifically designated for my power bill. How do I get my money back ASAP? Again, I’m in touch with my bank, but it’s a slow process and this feels like a %&!@ up on the part of Caviar."

I wish I had seen this earlier

I wish I had seen this earlier. Their app is buggy. So they sent the delivery person to the wrong branch of the restaurant, then set that restaurant as the delivery address... Then the delivery person refused to deliver my food unless I gave them more money. I got a refund for $50 of $115 dollars. So am out $65. I have ordered from the same restaurant 2 times before without problems. Except the first time delivered without a mask, or social distancing... I think I will give it a pass.

I have only given one other bad review…

I have only given one other bad review in my life. I actually make it a practice to often cheer for those with great reviews. I am so disgusted right now with this one. Caviar is a scam. I ordered on 4/25 a pick up order. Went to the restaurant and waited 30 min. The restaurant was closed, but Caviar took my money and advertised they were open. I reported it that day, with a message returned saying it would take longer than necessary to get back to me and when I followed up 9 days later today 5/4. Caviar's response was that they are keeping the money even though I was charged 7 days ago according to their policy. After asking twice for a manager through emails, they refused to escalate it to a manager. This is an unacceptable business practice. Save your money, go direct to a restaurant. People said when this Covid-19 thing started it was the companies that treat their employees and clients the best that will get through this. Looks like Caviar is getting at least one of those wrong.

Trycaviar is not safe

Yes same here, I never used this app before and realized that they did transactions in my bank account and I ended up having to get a new account. I don’t know who they are but I hope more people are being careful, please stay on top your checking accounts everyone

Many hacked accounts

Please report any security issues you are having with this app via reportaproblem.apple.com or email product-security at apple.com. There are at least 15 reviews since Jan 1, 2020, on the Apple app store, and many more from Trustpilot and other sites, from customers who had their accounts compromised via the food delivery app Caviar, with hundreds of dollars in fraudulent charges and issues contacting customer service ultimately with no resolution than for the customer to dispute the charges. The apparent security risk of using this app is especially problematic as, as I have verified, there is no way to remove a payment method from the account - not even customer support can do this. There is no phone support, the email support options that exist are difficult to find and mostly unmonitored, and the agents do not speak English.
