Caviar does not require their drivers have car insurance

When I was 9 month pregnant, a Caviar driver on a delivery run, hit my car because they were texting and driving. The delivery person then took off attempting to flee. Fortunately, my off duty police officer husband was driving at the time of the accident. He was able to catch up to the driver and block him in until the police came. After the police arrived on the scene, we learned he had no car insurance which is a state law in CA. We ended up being responsible for the damage to our car because the driver's lack of insurance and despite reporting this situation hundreds of times to Caviar, they refused to ever call or email us back. This company is truly the scum of the earth.

Worst delivery service ever!!

Worst delivery service ever!!! Food was delivered after 2.5hrs!!! Worst customer service!!! No one informed us about the status of our order. I had to call the restaurant who eventually helped sort this whole mess out! Never going to use this company again!!!

Listed restaurants don't deliver to my address

Based on my address a lot of restaurants show up. I fill a cart for multiple people for restaurant #1, and when I 'checkout' it says they don't deliver to my area. Needing to eat and feed people, I look on google for a place that's closer. It is listed on the Caviar home page, which should be based on my address since I'm logged in, but again... you're address is outside our delivery area. Done. No more Caviar. If they can't filter restaurants that deliver to me, and don't tell me until checkout that they don't deliver to my address, I'm not going to do all the work to figure it out.

Horrible service

Horrible service. Driver kept claiming my hotel did not exist. Did not deliver food on time. Kept calling and trying to go to a completely different address than what was on my order.

I used to love Caviar, but this was my last order

I used to love Caviar. I’ve been a frequent user for years. In the last six months or so, their ability to deliver my food within two hours of ordering it has been challenged. Tonight I placed an order at 6:28 pm. It is now 8:36 pm and my food isn’t here. I was told there was an issue finding a driver because of high demand. This has happened at least 5 times in the last 7 times I’ve ordered. They had to have the restaurant re-make the food so that it won’t be cold (yet it likely still will be). Customer service does their best, but the issue seems to be systemic with an inability to manage volume of orders or help drivers be efficient. I think this was my last order with them. It’s a disappointment!

This is the absolute worst delivery service

This is the absolute worst delivery service around. Every order has been a disaster. The delivery times are never what they say (usually 45-60+ mins late), food is always cold, and usually they deliver the wrong food. When you’re dealing with a nut allergy, this makes the order unusable. Most recently 1.5 hours after the order was placed they still didn’t have a courier available to pick it up, so the cold food which had been done for an hour was just sitting there. They offered a $10 credit on my next order, as if that makes up for it. Luckily they eventually cancelled my order, but I will NEVER use their app again.

If I could give no stars I would!

If I could give no stars I would! Tried to get a refund because my order was completely wrong. Jumped through all the hoops with their online ONLY help email. Sent the pictures and details multiple times and so far once I get to this stage in the back and forth. "See you owe me a refund" they just stop responding to the email. I'm out $80 basically for a burger, side of fries and soup. I don't eat beef!

I use this all of the time until now.

I use this all of the time until now.

They have gone down hill. The time the driver leaves the restaurant till they get to my house is unacceptable. I am sure that the driver stopped along the way. I was friends with the owners of the restaurant and they told me when Caviar left. Besides, Caviar said it would be delivered 7:00-7:09. We received the food at 7:38pm.

Their service is so bad

Their service is so bad. Our company started using Caviar but it is such a mess.
1. Food is never labelled, so you have to guess or open as see which one is yours. or no name label on the box.
2. They deliver food in piece meal, rather than everything at one time. few folks get their food while other wait.
3. Food is always late. Today is height, lunch will be delivered at 2:15 PM, folks are waiting since noon for lunch.
4. Packaging is bad, like it is picked up from some street side food truck.

My advice, it is not worth it. Stay away from this company.

Tried once and that was enough

Tried once and that was enough. Ordering process literally took 30 minutes. The special request box is useless because whatever you put in there will be ignored. And the 'shady' delivery guy took so long that the food was stone cold by the time it arrived, and not at the correct location I might add. Oh yea, and there are service fees and tip fees added to every order. Never again!

CAVIAR'S LESS THAN TRANSPARENT TIP PRACTICE

I used to be a devoted, frequent CAVIAR customer, but, no more. I finally caught on to their 'behind the scenes' practice of changing the tip that you leave to a higher amount. No one, except the customer, should decide the tip amount. Caviar added an $8.00 tip on a food bill of $32; that was ON TOP OF their SERVICE FEE and DELIVERY FEE. This practice does not seem transparent. Due to this issue, I ordered the exact same food from GRUBHUB and there was NO SERVICE FEE, just the stated delivery fee and the tip that I left.

No customer service at all

No customer service at all! The times of the delivery is never what the ETA. They charge huge fees, but never help with any issues. We pay them for nothing! Terrible, terrible company! Stay away.

Horrible Service....

I placed an order for our office lunch at 4 pm on Thursday with a delivery between 2:30 and 3 pm on Friday (the following day). At 2:40 pm, I received an email from Caviar saying that the order had been cancelled. They refunded our credit card and then charged $400 a second time (which I had to email them again requesting that they refund the order). I called the restaurant that we tried ordering from and they said that Caviar did not contact them about the under until Friday afternoon and there was no time to fulfil the order which is why they had to cancel it.

My salad came without dressing

My salad came without dressing. It was impossible to find customer support, but when I finally emailed I was told they could not deliver the dressing and would get a $10 credit good for 30 days. When I explained that the salad is inedible without dressing and requested a refund, they did refund as "one time exception." If an order comes wrong, it should be corrected or refunded as a policy.

I've been trying FOR DAYS to order from…

I've been trying FOR DAYS to order from a restaurant for Tues. lunch delivery (Tues. after Memorial Day). Caviar has a software glitch and the earliest delivery time is 4:45 pm. Trying to talk to their help desk, but keep getting emails from different people who don't read the original emails about the problem, so they don't understand the problem and don't help. Can't talk to a human on the phone. So frustrating. Yikes.

This service tries

This service tries its best. It used to have phone-in customer service, but seems to be gone.

Being in Manhattan, we have had delivery from local restaurants at least for the last 40 years, so home delivery is not new to us. But this service and its competitors expand the options by using its own couriers.

The positive is that we get to order beyond our zone. The negative is that the failure rate is very high...orders get canceled, orders are incorrect, orders are incomplete, etc, etc.

Unfortunately, these services don't understand 24-7 customer service, which means if an order goes wrong, you are screwed royally. And, I have had many orders go wrong. Since I work very late, if an order goes wrong, I have nothing to eat.

When you call a restaurant and say the order was wrong, they say contact the 3rd party delivery firm. Trycaviar used to have phone service (not that it helped), but seems no more.

Sadly, we blame the restaurants and it is reflected in their YELP reviews. But, for the most part, it is the delivery services and their bad couriers that we should blame most of the time.

I have gone back to ordering directly from my local restaurants. If there is an issue, they will send out anything wrong or missing. That is something none of these delivery services can do.

Customer support line sucks

Customer support line is impossible to deal with -- you provide them with all the required information and then they email you back to ask for more information that you've already given them. There's no live customer service or easy way to cancel deliveries.
