Do not pay for their travel insurance

Do not pay for their travel insurance! I have dealt with their customer service for months on resolving a claim, and all they do is give me the run around. I talk to one person, and I'm told one thing. Then I get transferred to someone else and get told something completely different. They will do anything to deny a claim! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

My daughter attended University in the…

My daughter attended University in the state of Washington and then Idaho 2016-2019. We went through Kristel Mjolsness at Western Financial in Nanton Alberta and purchased her Tugo student insurance. She had made two different claims during this time. Tugo helped her through the online claim processes and received her refund cheque in Canadian funds with the proper exchange.

After my daughter graduated she got a job offer in Texas. She spoke with Kristel at Western Financial and she worked with my daughter and Tugo to find her the right insurance. My daughter injured her hip and then had a reaction to the drugs they gave her. She made the claim and once again Tugo was excellent. My daughter is now going to stay in Texas and attend University to get her MBA. With Kristel help Tugo extended her coverage. She is not covered for Covid 19 which is understandable. As a family we will only use Tugo and would recommend the company.

Be careful with this company

Be careful with this company! Paid the extra money for insurance for our trip to club med.
Have got nothing but a run a round for our claim! After a lengthy discussion with a supervisor at TUGO the beginning of April we were told our claim would be expedited if everything was in order because of the circumstances of one person paying for 6 people. We have been waiting 6 weeks (the normal wait time for a claim is 4-6 weeks). Our claim hasn't even been looked at other than scanned in their system at least that is what the agents are telling me. TUGO are now telling us it will be weeks. RUN A ROUND! No supervisor available?????? BUYER BEWARE!

denied coverage when assured I would be covered

I have been travelling frequently over the last decade and have always used TuGo insurance.
I have rarely made a claim but when I did everything went smoothly and there were no issues.
I am a Canadian currently living in Australia with my partner. She wanted to move back to Australia for a little while to help take care of her father who is quite sick. I chose to move with her and purchased travel insurance through TuGo yet again. I was told over the phone and via email that I could extend my current policy at any time as long as it did not expire. My policy was purchased in mid January. After the Covid-19 madness began I called to extend my policy as I would not be returning home immediately. My policy was purchased months before it all began and as I said I was told I could extend with no hassle or questions asked and would still be covered as Covid-19 was not a known travel risk until early-mid march.
They refused my request to extend coverage. They said they didn't want to risk having to pay for anything that might happen should I get sick.
Not all of us live normal lives and some of us fall in love with people from other countries and our living situations are different and most times difficult. I was shocked that a canadian company I had used time and time again, and paid plenty of money to, would not help me out simply because they did not want to spend the potential money. Kind of sounds like every other insurance company out there that wants to take your money and find ways not to cover you. I will never use this company again.
Luckily, an Australian company decided to take me on as a Canadian incase something should happen. Very disappointed a company from my own country turned me down, especially after assuring me I would be covered.

As you know, this is an unprecedented world event that all of us are navigating together. As COVID-19 has resulted in the Government of Canada advising all Canadians to return home as soon as possible and caused the country to close its borders, changes to our policies were made accordingly.

It’s our job to ensure that all of our travel insurance customers are taken care of, so in accordance with Government advisories, we're strongly encouraging our customers to return home, as we may not be able to repatriate you since the border will be closed, and Canadian health facilities, which are similarly expected to see a dramatic rise in care demands, will prioritize citizens already in the country.

We aim to be as transparent as possible with our customers -- updating our FAQs and maintaining constant communication with them -- to ensure they're aware of how their coverage is impacted by this crisis.

We understand you’re choosing to stay in Australia, but keep in mind that we have been transparent that one-time 10-day extensions to travel medical policies are available and may be adjusted for as long as it would reasonably take you to return to Canada. Since you're planning to stay longer than 10 days after your policy expires, we won’t be able to provide coverage past that date. We hope this gives you some clarity around why we’ve had to make these tough decisions. While we're disappointed that we weren’t able to meet your needs, we are comforted to hear that you’ve secured medical coverage in Australia.

I was so impressed with how quickly my claim was approved and settled. Of course I was very stressed when I was hospitalized, worried because I had no idea how my insurance company would react. You people were wonderful and I tell everyone about my great experience with you. Thank you once again.

TuGo is the quickest responder in time…

TuGo is the quickest responder in time of greatest health emergency for an air evacuation by helicopter. Their follow up service dealing with the hospital and evacuation company was exceptional. I highly recommend TuGo and will always use them for my travel insurance needs!

Glad we use TUGO…

We have used TUGO for many years & have found their service to be excellent! Last year was a bad travel year for us, as 2 trips were cancelled because of walking problems my wife had. Then on our last planned trip I was hospitalized prior to travel. All 3 trip cancellations were handled quickly & timely. A very bad travel year but a very good response from TUGO!!

Timely, Reliable, Straight forward conditions & service

Timely, straight forward clear communications and service. We bought a medical insurance policy for my visiting Mom and Tugo stood behind it's policy when we really needed it without unnecessary delays or other conditions. We will buy Tugo insurance again and will look to see what other insurance products may be useful to myself and family.

My experience with TuGo Insurance has…

My experience with TuGo Insurance has always been through Anne Nikiforuk in Kelowna, B. C. I trust the advice she will give me and I can then travel without care.

I have only ever had one small claim due to illness while travelling. This claim was thoroughly settled to my satisfaction which I feel is due to Anne's very good advice. Future purchases of Medical Insurance coverage will always be through Anne. Thank you Anne, Pat.

As far as travel insurance goes I feel that Tugo is the absolute best. We have been very pleased with the service from Tugo. However, I have 2 complaints:
1. My wife and I each pay our own portion of the insurance cost but it is very difficult to break it down so we can do so.
2. We purchase both the annual plan and extended trip insurance. It is impossible to tell from the wallet cards if we actually have both or when our extended trip portion ends as these cards only show the annual plan. Are we really insured?.
