My daughter moved house in May last…

My daughter moved house in May last year. I had previously used T Wicks when I moved 9 years ago and found them to be fantastic so I therefore had no hesitation in advising her to use them for her move . The experience we had was appalling!!! They quoted us a price and on the form it asked if we required the companies insurances . To keep cost down we opted not to have them . She was moving on a Monday and we obviously had to pay in full before however the only way we could do this was via a link which was sent on Saturday . When we received the invoice it was for a lot more money than quoted . When we checked they had charged us for every insurance option even though we had ticked the form to say we didn’t want them . There was no one available over the weekend to talk to and afraid if I didn’t pay they wouldn’t turn up on Monday to move her so I paid the invoice confident that once I alerted them to their error they would refund it . How wrong could I be? Despite loads of emails telephone calls and even a signed for letter no refund has been forthcoming . They also broke a beautiful slate table completely in half by putting something too heavy on it . Do not use this company!!! It is not the lovely caring business it was and has caused us much stress and worry

Worst firm I have ever dealt with

This is the worst firm I have ever had to deal with, they were incompetent, aggressive, uncommunicative and ignored any attempt to resolve my complaints.
I stored furniture with them and while in storage there were no apparent issues. The problems started when I tried to retrieve my goods. They quoted over £4000 to move two van-loads from storage in Somerset to Surrey which I thought was too expensive so I engaged a different firm to move the furniture. T Wicks still wanted over £1000 just to remove the items from storage which I had to agree to.
We agreed a date but T Wicks would not reveal the storage location for pickup and failed to respond to multiple emails and calls. At the last minute they said they would not release the furniture until all outstanding storage costs were paid, something they had never mentioned before, even though they had not sent me a final invoice. The other firm that was going to collect the furniture had to cancel the pickup as they had other bookings and could not get the location.
T Wicks then demanded a £500 cancellation fee, even though it was their fault. I refused to pay and tried to raise a complaint but they did not even bother to acknowledge my complaint.
There then followed a long period where T Wicks issued repeated demands and threats of legal action, while ignoring my attempts to resolve the dispute. They rarely answered the phone and were unhelpful when I got through. I was told only one person could deal with my case, this person was often off sick and hardly ever replied to my emails. T Wicks does not appear to be a member of the National Guild of Removers and thus I couldn't use the Ombudsman Scheme, another reason to avoid them.
Finally and unexpectedly T Wicks offered me a "deal" where they would waive the fees under dispute. However they were still unable to confirm the amount outstanding, when they did finally come up with a number it was wrong and they appeared unable to understand my detailed explanation of what I owed. They still overcharged me (which I paid in order to avoid missing a second pickup date) and then ignored all attempts to contact them for a refund.
I was unsurprised to find much of my furniture was damaged when I finally received it.
An absolute disgrace of a company pretending to be a long-established family-run firm.

Please do not use T Wicks and Son

Please do not use this company.
They do not have an office; you cannot meet them in person.

They claim to be a small family run firm. This may be true, but it is not the Wick family. They may be owned by R Nightingale.

I had household effects in storage for 3 plus years, but when I came to recover them, I was faced with a very large charge (more than £2000) for moving 7 pods from a storage area (in R Nightingale) to the front of the warehouse where I arranged collect them.
