Extremely poor and frustrating experience with Designer Exchange.
I sold items to them and accepted vouchers in good faith, expecting a smooth process when purchasing. Instead, it turned into a complete waste of time.
After months of trying to find something suitable, I finally placed an order for a bag clearly listed with a strap. Only AFTER payment was taken did they inform me that the strap was missing. This is not a minor detail — it directly affects the value and usability of the item.
As a result, a buyer I already had lined up cancelled immediately because the item no longer matched the description.
What followed was even worse. I was initially encouraged to proceed with the incomplete item at a reduced price, only to later be told that an item in that condition wouldn’t even be eligible to be sold as listed. That level of contradiction is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about how listings are handled.
When I asked them to confirm that the item matched the original listing, they were unable to provide clear proof and instead dragged the situation out for over a week before I had no choice but to cancel.
At that point, the so-called “goodwill” offer disappeared and was replaced with a token £50, which frankly feels like an insult considering the time wasted and the sale I lost due to their mistake.
The entire experience gives the impression that once you are locked into vouchers, the level of service drops and you are left dealing with inconsistent processes and poor accountability.
Based on this experience, I have serious doubts about how accurately items are listed versus what is actually available at dispatch.
Summary:
- Item not as described AFTER payment
- Poor quality control and verification
- Contradictory explanations from support
- Delays that directly caused me to lose a buyer
- Minimal and inadequate resolution
All this because I refused to accept £1500 cash for my £2700 worth of vouchers. They assumed I was desperate for cash. I would strongly advise anyone to think twice, especially if you are accepting vouchers or relying on listings being accurate, with this inconsistency I can only imagine if the items they sell are all authentic. Do your business on Vestiare collective or vinted. Atleast you know you have full control of whatever you’re buying or selling at reasonable prices. Also don’t trust the 5 star reviews on here, companies now pay lazy people to write positive reviews about them.
Response to Anoushka:-
I want to be clear that this was never about the £400.
The issue is how everything was handled from start to finish. You stated that the strap was missing and that you contacted me prior to dispatch, yet you never provided any proof of this despite promising to do so. Transparency matters, especially in situations like this.
On top of that, there was no clear confirmation on whether the £400 voucher you offered related to the same item I originally ordered or something entirely different. That lack of clarity made it impossible to make an informed decision.
Overall, the way this situation was managed feels unprofessional and inconsistent. Customers should be able to trust what they’re told, and unfortunately, that trust wasn’t there in this case.
I’d advise others to be cautious this experience didn’t reflect well, and people should consider platforms where they have more control and clearer pricing.

I was under the impression the bag I purchased would be cleaned but unfortunately I was wrong. It was full of dust, debris and crumbs within the bag and old rusty coins inside each pocket.

I have just been to the Manchester store and bought a beautiful Celine bag that looked brand new! Payge and Callum were so helpful and made sure I was 100% satisfied with my purchase. I love coming to the Manchester store as I always get the best customer service.

I visited the store in Cheshire Oaks today. OMG it made TK Max look like Harrods. The presentation of the store was like a car boot sale. The staff looked like they were like they had come from the local youth club. The condition of the merchandise all looked pre owned even the so called brand new stuff. The place is a joke!

Came in to look for a bag at the Cheshire Oaks store today, found what I was looking for and purchased it. The wonderful lady that served me “Bekka”, was absolutely amazing bless her and fulfilled a wish on my bucket list to at least once in my lifetime hold a beautiful Hermes Kelly bag…. Slightly out of my budget at £18000, but it absolutely made my day. And for those few minutes I felt like I’d won the lottery!!! Thank you so very much for taking the time to do this for me, knowing that I couldn’t possibly of bought said bag….. you really were so lovely. Thank you again!!! Xxx
