Full marks all round, though I'm not sure the VFM would have been so high at full price. Also, I fail to see the sense in offering umpteen pages telling every language under the sun how properly to dispose of batteries and only two pages of not at all obvious diagrams on how to operate the product purchased - thank goodness for Youtube.

I am quite a fan of the Ryobi One+ kit. I have about 20 tools so far most of which are really good. This is not one of them. I have been using this tool today to fix light welded wire mesh to a soft wood timber frame to make a chicken run. Using a mix of 10 and 12mm staples and with the gun set to it's maximum action none of the staples fully penetrated the wood and all needed additional tapping home with a hammer after fixing. The action of the gun was fussy too and frequently didn't trigger without some fiddling on the position and extra pressure. Quite often it needed 2 or 3 goes to fire cleanly. I suppose for the money it's not awful. I used an offer and paid nearly £80 for the bare tool direct from Ryobi but I'd rather pay a bit more and get something better at the job. However the next model up, the 18G Air Strike, is well over £200 and I cant justify that for the amount of use it will get. Perhaps if there was something between the two it would tick my boxes. Sorry Ryobi, I do like most of your gear but this unit is not up to your usual standards of functionality. This one is a 'miss' for me, please try harder. :-(
