I created a comprehensive business plan that I will use for my business. However, for funding, you need a business plan that adheres to a particular format. After paying extra for their business plan restructuring service, my startup consultant accepted it.

The formatting and structure look good, unlike the startup business plan template you fill in and print off. All correspondence is via email, which can lead to some miscommunication and delays.

The main points are: You will need to fine-tune and review/update your business plan once the business plan team sends it back. For £100, it’s well worth investing in this service to get your business plan ready for funders.

They were able to sort my issue immediately and they provide additional business services for busy individuals

Received no calls as the business does not speak to its clients. There is only one point of contact throughout the process and appears to be the only person there.....

Paid an application fee, for what I am still not sure.

Paid for a business plan, which was wrong and late, and worthless.

Out of all types of funding available, circa 10% were grants and the remainder loans.

Grants (which you are applicable for) you apply for and are effectively throwing your hat into the ring with God knows how many others and to date I have heard nothing back from my applications.

I may more chance of winning a toy at a fairground or theme park.

Loans are available on the open market and there are hundreds of brokers who can do the same thing for you at no cost.

The processes throughout were long and convoluted. It took many months of waiting and being ignored. You cannot speak to anyone, you can only send emails which are replied back to a few days later. So one conversation can take 2 weeks.

Steer clear and do not use.

Justin and his team (Beth) were amazing from day one. Always on hand to support and guide through the profile set up process, business plan building and also the pitch deck creation. Customer service was 5 star and I have also recently secured a start up loan on the back of the improved documents and application. There's so many aspects that go into starting a new business alone, particularly when you have 24hrs in a day but 40hr worth of work to complete in that day, lol. UK Startups has really helped in being able to outsource some really important aspects around business planning and fund raising which has been invaluable in terms of time saved and expertise leveraged.
