Examination

I am writing this review to share a significant concern about the reliability of the initial scan interpretations provided at this clinic, specifically regarding the diagnosis of serious conditions.

While the staff were generally professional during the appointment, my family's experience highlights a critical potential gap in diagnostic certainty that I feel compelled to share for the benefit of future patients.

On the 7th of February 2025, my father was given reassuring news during his scan carried out by Shoaib Ali, being verbally told that cancer was not present which myself and my mother were witnesses to.

Subsequent testing and consultation with specialists at Russell's Hall hospital a week later confirmed that the condition was, in fact, present.

My intention is not to discredit the facility entirely, but to provide an essential caveat regarding the need for patients to be diligent advocates for their own health and to ensure all findings are thoroughly verified.

If you receive a preliminary scan result here, especially one clearing you of a serious diagnosis, I urge you to seek a second opinion or independent confirmation of the findings from a specialist who can review the actual images that are received from this clinic.

For reference I shall share the conclusion from Shoaib Ali's written report. May I also state this experience did not affect my father's outcome as it was already at an advanced stage, my concern is if others take no further action from having a consultation at this clinic.

Below is the report;

An ultrasound examination of the left neck was performed today to evaluate for lumps.

A well defined thin walled oval shaped hypoechoic cystic lesion with internal cystic
changes without internal vascularity noted in left neck region measuring 17 x 10 x 17 mm.

A well defined two thin walled oval shaped anechoic areas seen in left neck region without
internal colour doppler flow notes measuring 12 x 6 x 9 mm and 8 x 6 x 7 mm.

No evidence of enlarged lymph nodes in left neck regions.

Impression
Finding suggestive of cystic lesion with internal cystic changes noted and two simple cysts

noted in left neck region suggestive of benign cystic lesions measuring are above.
No evidence of lymphadenopathy in left neck region.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear about your father’s diagnosis. You stated that Ali reassured you that cancer was not present. Ali did not clear your father of any serious diagnosis considering his history. He reported findings which were suggestive of benign lesions based on the shape, size, and characteristics according to guidelines. A well-defined, thin walled, oval shaped hypoechoic cystic lesion typically indicates a benign condition. Such lesions are characterised by smooth, well-defined borders and lack of internal vascularity which was the case with the lesions analysed.

UUD offers diagnostics and screening services to help reach a diagnosis. An ultrasound alone cannot diagnose an illness. UUD makes recommendations based on findings to enable further testing, and early treatment, or to help patients and other healthcare providers to make informed decisions. UUD advised you to share report with your GP who could make an informed decision based on our findings to reach a conclusive diagnosis.

Ali provided appropriate support and advice and interpreted the report verbally according to the findings and clinical guidelines without causing the patient anxiety. UUD provided report and images for further clinical correlation.

We are deeply sorry to hear about your father's fight, and we have experienced as a team how cancer can affect the whole family. We will be thinking of you at this time. Our whole ethos is about making the world a bit of a better place. Through private and fast scans, we strive for excellence through high quality standards.

1st class service.

Having been told it was a 6-8 hour wait just to see a doctor at A&E and they couldn't do a scan until the next day for a suspected DVT I thought I look at a private scan.
Universal were not far away and I could get a scan in a couple of hours.
Really pleased with the friendly service,a very thorough scan all shown on a big screen as it was being done.
A great report was also sent to me,excellent.

Highly Recommend

Had a scan today with Universal Ultrasound Diagnostics. Was skeptical at first after seeing some reviews but I needed an urgent scan and these were the only available on the same day.

From first contact on the phone to my appointment, all the staff were amazing. They didn't rush the scan like other places I have been to. Kept me informed throughout the scan what they were doing.
I would highly recommend and will definitely be using again for all future scans

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY !!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY !!!
I paid for an ultrasound for a lump on my neck to be told it was suspicious could not say was cancer or not after being told it wasn't by them, they said my lump was 11mm, I was not happy with there findings so went to a professional neck sonographer to be told it is not cancer and the lump in fact measures only 4mm and is not suspicious.
The worry I have had is not acceptable and I do not want anyone else to go through this

We are very sorry to hear about your experience at our practice.
We have checked our records and can confirm that we did not have a scan list on the date you stated due to deep cleaning. To allow us to investigate this, please email your full name and date of birth to admin@ultrasounddiagnostic.co.uk.

It is worth noting that our reports are consistent with our findings and correlate with the images. We report according to our reporting protocols which are in line the BMUS guidelines.

UUD offers diagnostics and screening services. UUD does not diagnose diseases as an ultrasound alone cannot diagnose an illness. Ultrasound is not 100% accurate and does not provide a diagnosis. Tests may not always provide reliable or clear-cut answers. They can lead to false reassurance, false alarms, and the discovery of uncertain findings. UUD makes recommendations based on findings to enable further testing, and early treatment, or to help patients and other healthcare providers to make informed decisions.

The discrepancy in findings between UUD and the other healthcare providers does not deem our sonographers incompetent. UUD staff are clinically trained in various types of scans and they are HCPC and BMUS registered. UUD is also approved and regulated by CQC to carry out diagnostic and pregnancy scans.

The CQC report does not reflect our current standards. We were reviewed by CQC in January 2024 and we submitted documentary evidence which satisfied CQC that we are operating according to standards.

Avoid at all costs cheap for a reason

My 21 year old daughter attended for a gynae scan in March 2024 to be told they had found a mass and that they needed a Radiologist to look at the scans
Obviously the word mass sent us into panic
Had a phone call a while after to say there wasn’t a mass at all
Totally unacceptable to use the word mass which is indicative of cancer
Had to pay again to go to a more reputable scanning centre to be told it was all normal
Avoid at all costs. Use MUMS in Solihull instead they are much more professional
Check CQC reports from this clinic before booking

We are very sorry to hear about your experience at our practice. We appreciate that patients may be anxious and we endeavor to deliver news sensitively and in a compassionate way.
Ultrasound is not 100% accurate and does not provide a diagnosis. Tests may not always provide reliable or clear-cut answers. They can lead to false reassurance, false alarms, and the discovery of uncertain findings. We inform our patients of the findings and make them aware that we will need to seek a second opinion, where required before writing the final report, which was the case. The sonographer needed a second opinion and this is common even in the NHS and among healthcare professionals. Our sonographers have to be open and honest about the suggestive findings. We report according to our reporting protocols which are in line with the BMUS guidelines.

According to BMUS guidelines the word mass can be used. Please see page 55 of the latest BMUS guidelines under descriptive element. UUD offers diagnostics and screening services. UUD does not diagnose diseases as an ultrasound alone cannot diagnose an illness.

UUD staff are very professional and have vast experience in the NHS and private clinics. They are clinically trained in various types of scans and they are HCPC and BMUS registered. UUD is also approved and regulated by CQC to carry out diagnostic and pregnancy scans.

The CQC report you are referring to does not reflect our current standards. UUD is continuously improving services. In January 2024 UUD submitted documentary evidence which satisfied CQC that we are operating according to required standards.

UUD will continue to go over and beyond to meet patients expectations.

Last Friday I attended for a DVT scan…

Last Friday I attended for a DVT scan after being reassured by hospital that there was unlikely to be a blood clot. During the whole scan the staff were extremely professional and comforting. During the scan a blood clot was found and I was comforted and advised on what to do. The report and images were sent over straight away making it so much easier when presenting at hospital as treatment was started straight away. A week later I had a courtesy call to see how I was which I think is so lovely considering how busy they are. I am so lucky to have got a scan within two days and thanks to the team things were picked up in time.

Great experience with very…

Great experience with very knowledgeable staff. Having to wait weeks for a GP referral I decided to go private with universal ultrasound and got an appointment within days, for a scan I really needed. I can’t thank the team enough and really appreciate them answering all my questions and putting me at ease.
