Vague and baffling customer service
This shop in Dereham seems somewhat baffled by how to manage customer expectations.
Took my phone in as the back kept becoming unglued. (It's swelling of the old battery, but we can replace it. No battery in stock but can order one in).
Could they do it while I wait? (Possibly - depends if there's already another on the bench when I bring it in. And our phone bloke isn't always here. He might be in on Friday. Cost will be £40. Might be here by Thursday - ring us to check). That was odd. Most shops doing a special order will take your details and ring you when the item arrives.
Phoned Thursday (battery in). When could it be fixed? (Monday). Ah, not Friday then.
What time should I bring it in Monday? (As early as possible).
Took phone in 9am Monday. (Let me see if the battery's in). It was when you told me on Thursday. (Let me take your contact details... cost will be £50). That's not what you told me last week. (That's the labour charge; it doesn't include the battery).
Will the phone be ready by lunchtime? (Depends when our phone bloke comes in; we don't know what time he's going to show up, We're thinking of stopping mobile phone repairs anyway as it isn't worth it - in fact yours is one of the last we've got booked in before we stop them).
I decided to take my business elsewhere. At the time of writing, Unicorn's website still has a large section on phone and tablet repair services. I presume you can still have them done if you're not in a hurry.
