Information provided by various external sources

Created by a woman for women, Unique Vintage celebrates the iconic, flirty fashion of the past with modern, ready-to-wear designs for today’s woman. Started in 2000, uniquevintage.com was founded by Katie Echeverry, a vintage fashion lover who would spend her weekdays working in pharmaceutical sales and her weekends on the hunt for vintage dresses to sell on the website she had started as a fun weekend hobby. Quickly recognizing that high quality vintage items were very hard to find, Katie took a chance and began adding vintage-inspired dresses to her site, seeing sales skyrocket almost immediately. This was all it took for Katie to know that her weekend hobby was much more than just that, leading her to ditch the doctor’s offices and take on UV full time. As UV’s business continued its path of exponential growth, Echeverry opened a 4,600-square-foot brick and mortar boutique in 2008. This storefront location has stood as an iconic destination on the historic vintage row of Magnolia Boulevard in downtown Burbank since. In August 2015, Unique Vintage unveiled its first major renovation since its initial opening. Despite having several opportunities to move her business out of her hometown, Echeverry has remained committed to maintaining her local roots for the company. She cares deeply about the city of Burbank and prioritizes the store’s contribution to Magnolia Park. Since those early days, Unique Vintage has continued to grow, launching its very own Unique Vintage brand label to better serve the needs of the UV girl, while continuing to carry the retro-inspired labels that helped to put UV on the map. Building on the Unique Vintage label, UV has also launched exclusive collaborations with Barbie, Pantone, Coca-Cola, Universal Monster and more.

No longer worth it

I've been ordering from Unique Vintage for years and probably half of my sizeable wardrobe comes from there. The last year or so, the sizing is a crap shoot and they won't return or exchange sale items when the sizing chart doesn't match the actual item. My most recent order totaled $220 of 50% off items. Not one item that I ordered fits and the measurements listed on each items size chart do not match the measurements for the actual item. Half of it was bought on sale so I can't return/exchange it. The other half was half off regular price so I can't get all of the items I ordered. Until Unique Vintage either changes their return/exchange policy OR starts using accurate size charts, I won't buy anything else. It's not worth the amount of money that I've wasted.

Parcel did not include all items I ordered. They will not respond.

Where to start? Shipping took forever. When the parcel did arrive, it only contained one of the two items I ordered. They charged my credit card for the full amount. I tried emailing, calling, and chatting online (which isn't a real chat; just reroutes you to email) multiple times over multiple weeks and there has been zero response.

Easy returns when needed!

I've bought from this brand about 5 times! I had to return an unflattering dress and the customer service team was easy to work with! The quality of clothes to be amazing and the service is really great at Unique Vintage. I'd certainly recommend them to anyone looking for this type of fashion!

I love Unique Vintage!!

I love Unique Vintage!!! As a curvy girl, who loves dresses…UV is my favorite place. I’ve mostly shopped in store with fun and attentive customer service. And my online orders have all arrived on time. I recommend UV to all of my friends and always will. My most recent purchase was in store and I look forward to Whatever goodies they’ll have in store for Valentine’s Day ❤️

Great style and quality clothing!

I ordered the cuties red blouse and black sweater! The quality was great and the fit looked awesome! I love that their sizes range from x-small-5xl. Especially since I usually wear 1XL and most companies don’t offer larger sizes. The customer service was fabulous! Love this company

Terrible in store customer service + overall decline in quality...

Sorry for writing a book here, but I'm well and truly annoyed. I've been buying dresses from Unique Vintage since 2010 (back then they had the original storefront on Magnolia with a handful of dressing rooms). I remember the first experiences I had there being so eye-opening, my intro into vintage-inspired dresses - brands like Stop Staring, beautiful things that fit a plus-sized body like mine and made me feel like a million bucks (some of which I had the privilege of wearing on a TV show a year later), and of course, amazing service and people who seemed excited to share their finds with customers. I spent far too much but had no regrets because it was an "experience." Since then, the store has changed location 2x, and both the storefront and the quality of the clothing have gotten progressively worse.

It seems like a lot of the stock on their website and in-store now is their own line, and let's face it - it's pretty cheaply made, ill-fitting, and feels like a knockoff of far superior brands. There are often fatal flaws like uneven stitches, fragile seams, etc. Every time I order their clothing, I end up having to return it, but I persist because I keep thinking "This is going to get better." And occasionally, I do find something good (the earrings are lovely). But the in-store experience has just gotten worse and worse to the point that I'm done.

I ordered a sweater for a conference back in November, and it came in right before I had to leave on December 1st. I open the bag and realize it looks nothing like the website. It's a Pepto pink rather than the soft pink pictured online, just a garish pink. So I put it right back in the bag, ask my roommate/BFF (also a UV fan/customer) to return it for me since I'm leaving the next day. Disappointing, but whatever. Then she goes to return it, and they tell her it's final sale (something NOT noted on the receipt). Whatever, I typically never buy final sale because of potential fit issues, but it is what it is, but when my friend (rightly) pressed to ask for proof it was final sale, the lead associate proceeded to gaslight, patronize, and berate her, someone who was just trying to do me a huge favor. She showed her the website price (a current listing - how does that prove it was final sale back when I purchased it?). She accused her of not bringing a belt back that came with it (a belt that was NOT in the bag and she later gave to us because they forgot it with the original order - never admitting fault for that). She told her the buttons looked worn (which obviously means someone wore it and returned it to them before they sold it to me, because I'm currently in D.C. and have been since we picked it up. I'm not omnipresent though I'd love to be, thanks). She refused to budge and was rude from start to finish. How do I know? Because while I was here trying to finish my conference, I was getting a play-by-play from my friend via text and phone. I was horrified and embarrassed she was just trying to help me return something and was so poorly treated. They made her feel like a fraud and a thief rather than a valued customer (and by extension, made me feel the same).

I'm sorry if the storefront is doing so poorly they have to take such a hard line re: returns, but the treatment? The terrible customer service in person? It's lost more than one customer based on these other reviews. That's not sustainable, but hey, keep doing what you're doing. It's doing a great job of driving away your long-time customers. 12+ years a customer down the drain because you humiliated us for trying to return a $32 sweater. Kudos.

Have always loved UV, but they refuse to price adjust..

Have always loved UV, but the refusal to price adjust their own product when sales increase immediately after making a rather large Black Friday purchase... I received a response past their 72hr business day window, saying they would be happy to return items for a $7 restock fee so I could reorder them at the increased sale price... Half debating it because of how much I ordered.. Tried to respond asking them to consider a store credit for the difference so that the money goes to them in the end anyways without the hassle..they are ignoring me now... Won't order from them again; don't care how cute the clothes are. Pain in the ass company. Don't waste your energy.

Counterfeit goods and no communication

This was my first time ordering from them and also my last.
I first contacted them as I was having trouble with my discount code and also because the shipping was higher than advertised. The never responded, but did amend the shipping on the site.
When item arrived it was a bootleg. I contacted them about it and they asked for evidence, which I provided. The item has now been removed from the website but they are ignoring my emails, so I am now trying to get my money back from my credit card instead.
Also be aware that if you sign up to their mailing list, that means three emails a day, every day, for the rest of your life

Not considerate of customers

Spent over $160 on dresses only for the stuff to go on sale hours later, which is fine, but they were not willing to work with me at all on the cost and wouldn't let me cancel the order because it had already "been worked on" by their fulfilment team, even though the email said the order would take extra time. Won't be reordering.

They send damaged products and don't care

I ordered a $100 dress after spending weeks debating it because of the high price tag. When I received the dress, everything seemed fine and it fit well. I saved it to wear a couple of weeks later. When I finally wore it, I noticed there was a hole in the skirt, and a bit of damage that didn't punch all the way through near the hole. I reached out to them, and was told too bad because they give 48 hours to report damages. At first glance, the dress seemed fine. I never expected that I would have to look over a $100 black dress with a fine tooth comb to find and report damaged fabric. So I'm out $100 for a damaged dress, and they don't care in the least.

Lost $350

I have always enjoyed ordering from this site in the past although I agree with others that the quality isn't up to par with the prices. However I have never had a negative experience until now and will not order from them again. I wouldn't suggest anyone else do so either unless you want to gamble with your money. I placed an order 8/28, over a month ago, received an automated email saying my order might take "a few days" longer than usual, and haven't heard a word since. It's still unfulfilled. No shipping, no update, no response to 5 different messages including one on their social media. And forget about actually talking to someone if you call their customer service number. I'm not sure what happened to them, but they appear to have no intention of shipping my order or giving me my money back, which is essentially stealing. So buyer beware.

I won’t shop here again

I used to buy from them online for years and never had an issue, till July of this year. They oversold items and didn’t refund until I called asking where my items were after 2 weeks of zero shipment notice. Then after 3 weeks they finally shipped my order but when it got here it was incomplete beyond what they had told me it would be when I called. Worst is they didn’t respond to any of the emails i sent inquiring about my missing item nor did they refund. I had to contact my CC company. There are so many complaints online about the same thing happening to other people and we’ve written to them on social media and they are NOT addressing the concerns. I will never buy here again.

Loyal customer… no more.

I think some of the reviews on here might have the wrong company, as they’re talking about items this company doesn’t even sell.

Anyways, I’ve been a customer for years, and half my closet is probably from this website. But honestly, that’ll be changing. They take FOREVER to ship… Im in Illinois and get orders from the UK faster than I do from California?! Also, probably the last three orders have arrived incomplete because they sold me something they didn’t actually have in stock. Pay VERY close attention to your orders because if they oversell, they won’t notify you and refund your money… they’ll simply just not ship your item and wait for you to ask for your money back. Very bad business practice.
Also the sizes are all over the place. I have probably a dozen UV brand dresses that all fit great and then I’ll buy one that is easily two sizes smaller than the advertised size. The sizing charts don’t mean anything. Bought a dress that said 34” waist and there’s no way it’s over 28”, but can’t return (it was on clearance) even though i only bought it due to false advertising. It’s just so frustrating to shop from here anymore. I’m done.

Terrible quality clothing

Terrible quality clothing. Worse than Wish. Out of 5 things I ordered, 4 were completely unwearable. One was falling apart right out of the bag. And I bought them on sale so I can’t return or get a refund. I’m decent at sewing so I’m going to try to fix them myself, but for the price point this is shockingly bad.

Don't order from here

Don't order from here, especially if you aren't in the USA as whether or not it is not as advertised, faulty, not faulty, it won't matter you will have to return it and pay for the return yourself which is not how distance selling is supposed to work by law.
They ask for numerous photos of problems and then despite not being as pictured they say that it isn't defective, but apparently I can still pay a fortune to send it across the Atlantic. Well, after reading the comments on how they charge restocking fees and the item being overpriced for what it turned out to be anyway I have decided to keep it and hope that I can do something to make it fit better myself.
Lesson learned though. I will always check out the reviews before buying.
I also notice that the shop has never written back to any of these people who have put reviews on here which to me shows a lack of caring for the customer.

Absolutely do not shop here

Completely terrible customer service. They knowingly sent me a torn dress - I know this as they have visibly attempted and failed to patch it. Despite this, they demanded that I pay to return it. So they send me something not fit for purpose and then make me pay to return.
On top of that the response times are dire. I can't even establish a dialogue with them because they take a week to reply each time and you have to return within 30 days.
On top of this part of my order just never arrived and I had to fight about that as well.

Slow returns

They have great clothing but are lacking in the return handling department. If you have to return anything, just know that it will be 14 business days at least before they get to it.
