Very handy and easy to use especially…

Very handy and easy to use especially since the latest App software. Finding objects before could be a bit clumsy but is now improved.
I used a conventional system before with a GoTo mount which took ages to set up. It could also be a cold experience.
The Unistellar is up and running in a few minutes in the garden and I can sit indoors controlling it. I have a mark 1 and wish I had the latest version. However the images I take impress the more traditional members of my Astronomical Society!

Great telescope, but poor user manual

I was given an eVscope 1 from an offer made by SETI. I looked forward with excitement for its arrival and was eager to start photographing various stellar objects. Well, the first problem was that the Android cell phone eVscope APP did not work. It kept switching from observer to watcher, and switching off the internet connection. This was very frustrating. I did not know what was wrong and almost shipped the telescope back thinking that it was defective. I finally learned that the software in the APP was buggy, and waited for several months for a working Android version to be installed. Then the telescope worked perfectly; once I figured out how to use it.
My big complaint is that the user manual you provided was useless because it contained so little information on how to operate the telescope. I finally found an online video that showed how to use the APP, and watched it many times, taking notes, drawing pictures of the cell phone screen, and labeling the various icons so that I knew what they did. Then I made my own instruction list so that I could turn the eVscope on, take a dark screen, find a star field, and then locate the galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters that I wanted to photograph. All of these steps and pictures should have been in a good user manual. Not everyone is technologically skilled, and I am one of them. I really liked the original APP format for running the eVscope, and am now struggling to learn how to use the new APP operating system.
Learning how to use the new cell phone APP has been difficult mainly because of the lack of a good user manual. Fortunately, my husband found a step by step pictorial set of instructions on Facebook that was posted by one of your Beta testers. It was missing one picture between steps 7 and 8, but by using it I was able to figure out how to take a dark screen, find a star field, and finally take some pictures. I ended up making my own check list based on the pictorial, and shared it with two friends, who still have not tried out the new APP. As far as the new APP goes, I am not crazy about it. There are two many screens to run through just to get a dark frame, move the telescope, and take pictures, and several features that I liked on the old APP are gone. I liked your old gallery screen with the way the objects were grouped. I also liked having the joystick on the same page as the screen with the object to be photographed. That way, I could adjust the position of the galaxy, nebula, or star cluster easily if they were not centered. I am not sure how to do this yet with the new APP. Also, I liked the way I could key in M or NGC in the old APP, and be able to see the whole Messier or NGC catalog list. It made it easier to find objects that were not on your preferred groups. Another feature which I miss is to be able to put in the co-ordinates of an object and have the eVscope find it. I want to look at 3C273, but so far cannot find a way to look for it on the new APP. A good more detailed user manual would make it easier for people like me to use the new eVscope APP, and probably save you from a lot of desperate, "Help me!," emails.
I really do like the eVscope and use it on most clear nights. I even was able to follow the decline in brightness of a recent supernova in NGC 4647. The seeing frequently is not very good where I live, and light pollution and jets flying to three nearby airports cause issues with photographing stellar objects. In spite of all of these detrimental problems, I have managed to get some very nice pictures and look forward to photographing more interesting stellar objects in the future. I just wish that you had not changed the operating APP.

Excellent telescope

Excellent telescope, easy and quick to set up and take credible photos. Wonderful to watch the picture build up on your phone. However, I have found it difficult to upload my photos and empty the memory. Perhaps this will become easier with the new app.

Unistellar - A great telescope and an efficient company …

I have owned an eVscope from Unistellar for about 20 months.
Having read a review about it in an astronomy magazine I believed that it would provide a game-changing experience
The process of buying the scope online and having it delivered worked seamlessly. The scope arrived in good condition.I was a little disappointed that the accompanying booklet was not more detailed, because the app that controls the scope is not completely intuitive.I managed, however, to cope.
However, the first time I used the telescope I was truly amazed at its capabilities.I think it is absolutely great, and good value for money!
Galaxies which previously had just been faint fuzzies are now displayed in incredible detail, rivalling what can be seen visually in much larger and more expensive instruments! The same is true of nebulae.Globular clusters, while impressive, tend to be over-exposed at the centre, but this is a mere quibble. My overall impression is very good.
My only problem is that the mirror on my scope needs to be re-aligned quite often, and this is a fiddly job in the dark on a cold windy night!
The staff at Unistellar have been very helpful and encouraging on the couple of occasions when I needed help so for product support I would give Unistellar full marks.
When I bought this scope I felt that I had exhausted most of the possibilities of my 8 inch SCT telescope, but the eVscope has opened up a whole new set of possibilities for me.

Best purchase I have ever made. …

I have had my EVscope for about 2 years now. I was a backer on Kickstarter when Unistellar first got started. I have used my scope 100’s of times through multiple scope and app updates and thousands of observations. I have never had and issue to date with the app or scope and have spent many enjoyable hours discovering the universe and storing my observations. By far the best of any of my multitude of previous telescopes. Expensive, but I have got my money’s worth many times over with a telescope that works every time and I have beautiful pictures to prove it.

I love my eVscope!

I still have my original eVscope as I was one of the original backers. It is an amazing device. I replaced most all of my astronomy and astrophystrophy equipment with the eVscope and do not regret it.

A little telescope with a big WOW!

The Unistellar is a very easy telescope to set up, being light enough even to carry in the optional backpack. The ease of sitting down indoors out of the weather, or in a comfortable chair several feet away from the telescope, watching spectacular images of items in our galaxy come into view on a smartphone in only minutes, can be breathtaking! Then take those images and mirror them on your wide screen TV and your friends won’t believe you made them.
Check out the website, you can also be part of real science too.

Not a family scope

Not a family scope. Hard to use with moon, planets, and any brighter object. App is harder to use than expected. Not getting the use from scope as planned.

We hope you could have figured out how to use your telescope after its delivery in November 2020. So far, no support help has been found in the past 3.5 years. If ever you are ready to embrace the learning curve, we are here to help. Most of our customers love using their Unistellar telescope during family gatherings and star parties. Be well!

Keep up the good work, Unistellar!

I was an early adopter of the eVscope, and wondered whether I should have waited. As it turned out, I was delighted with the scope from the start, and have had a lot of enjoyment from it. I feel the support from Unistellar has also been good, with encouraging emails, suggestions, demystifying ’citizen science’ etc. I feel like part of a community. Keep up the good work, Unistellar!

Unistellar is mind blowing.

Unistellar and its eVscope are the best because with every clear night I am out observing many objects I never imagined seeing. Unistellar is worth every dollar because I can go out, set up in minutes and spend hours observing. Unistellar’s support team is phenomenal! Any time I have reached out to them, I get quick response and assistance until the issue is resolved. Unistellar = astronomy for everyone.

Perfect scope with eyepiece

I use this scope for quick setup during public outreach, and also to just spend time cruising the sky. The eyepiece enhances the experience in public outreach as everyone expects an eyepiece. I feel guilty at times when lines are longer for this little scope, and often get repeat viewers for the same target.

Best telescope on the market!

I could not be more pleased with my eVscope by Unistellar. It is a remarkable instrument that makes a traditional telescope obsolete. It has let me see and photograph deep sky objects that were impossible to observe before but are now revealed in spectacular color and detail. Thank you, Unistellar!

20+ Years of observing

I bought a Nexstar 8 in June 2000, and have owned a CPC 800 since 2007. The CPC 800 has been a better platform for my Denkmieier binoviewer. I have enjoyed visual astronomy for 20 years and have never grown tired of what wonders I could see with with my 8" scope. That original Nexstar 8 was met with skepticism when it first came out. "Go-to" took away from having to know the sky and knowing how to star hop. For me it was great; I just wanted see things.

I received my eVscope a couple of days before Christmas. The weather was great so my wife told me to open it early.

After viewing for a while that first night with my eVscope, I told my wife she had to come out and see the Great Orion Nebula. I can honestly say it was the first time my wife ever my wife looked through my scope and said, "Oh my god."

I'm not an astrophotographer, and never really had a desire to get into it. For me it has always been viewing.

I am delighted in what the eVscope is opening up for me. I recall when I bought my original scope 20 years ago I was so excited to see the Horsehead Nebula. Of course I never saw it..........until now.

There will be always be naysayers, and I understand that. For me it's about viewing.

Ordered from Unistellar and processing…

Ordered from Unistellar and processing and shipment was timely. Received scope in excellent undamaged condition.
Setup was pretty easy. I decided to fully charge as recommended from company. Did a simple focus looking at star field and began gazing.
Well I was definitely amazed by what I saw. I will definitely be doing culmination and focus the correct way.
Only issue I’ve had happened after new app was installed. Communication between app and scope seem glitchy. I’ve had to turn off and reboot a couple of times.
Will report back if problem resolves itself.

My experience with a new Evscope Equinox

I just got my Unistellar Evscope Equinox. I found the information in the Unistellar manual and the videos to be excellent. In tightening the screws in the tripod, I made a mistake and dislodged a clamp. This was really a simple fix, but at first, I thought it might be more involved. I contacted Unistellar, and I received a very rapid response and after several quick e-mail exchanges, I realized how easily I could fix the tripod leg, and I fixed it. Unistellar's response and help for my issue was outstanding. I then took the scope out onto my driveway and imaged M57 and M51. It was early and not yet totally dark. I could barely see any stars except for Vega when I did this. However, the images I obtained without doing anything except focusing were outstanding. I couldn't believe how much detail I was seeing with only a few minutes exposure in a highly light polluted area. I look forward to a lot of good observing sessions with this scope, and I'm very happy I purchased it (and the bag!).
