Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 70 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers consistently explain that getting necessary medical and dental claims approved is a major uphill battle because the business routinely denies essential coverage. Many individuals feel entirely forced to fight through endless paperwork and formal appeals just to receive the basic benefits they were originally promised. Some reviewers were not happy with the customer service, noting that getting transferred repeatedly and dealing with unhelpful staff is extremely frustrating. People also mentioned dealing with unexpected financial surprises, such as sharply rising monthly premiums and steep out-of-pocket expenses for routine care.

United Healthcare cancelled my…

United Healthcare cancelled my insurance for non-payment while it was actually pulling payments from my checking account - now I'm uninsured for up to 30 days while they figure this out??? How can we fix this right away? And as I talk to customer service I realize that they are actually pulling out even more than I owe.

The Scummiest Company In America

I have received misdials from over 300 United HealthCare clients calling to file or inquire to claims. United HealthCare has been made aware of this for several weeks, and have acknowledged the issue (when I was finally able to reach a human instead of the AI agent). However it has not been fixed.

This is a deliberate tactic so they do not even have to hear from the clients paying hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars a months for their services so they can deny their very client base.

I have never dealt with a more evil, malicious, and greedy corporate entity in my life. This is a criminal enterprise backed by the federal government and should be dismantled.

It's a generic company and in my opinion should not exist in the insurance world as soon as the next open enrollment comes around in the fall I will be switching to a more reputable company one that doesn't deceive the consumer it was my mistake for being letting to my decision to go with United healthcare by one of its Representatives instead of researching it first the phone call from a United healthcare sales representative is one that I should have never answered

Insurance synonymous with Scams

First deductible was roughly $16K
Second deductible was roughly $4k
Thereafter the insurance Co. should be responsible, however they try to NOT pay unless you fight them and the they continue to offer excuses and every time you call to speak to a supervisor the calls seem to "get disconnected" (how convenient) then you must begin anew with another Supervisor.
Eventually I mailed requested information to them via Certified mail which requires a signature two times and then made copies and shared with my lawyer. They can no longer escape their responsibility going forward with this and other evidence obtained.

UnitedHealthcare - Golden Rule Ins. Co. has the lowest star for many legitimate reasons.
The pivotal role of the CEO, Patrick F. Carr that helped increase the annual sales of $2.2 billion is stolen from the customers that they allegedly serve.
This review reflects all employees underneath the CEO and especially Patrick F. Carr.

Five Star Rating for Ali at UHC

Wonderful Representative in United Healthcare Medicare Advantage Plan. My husband spoke with Ali who is a United Healthcare Representative through the UHC direct call center for our plan. We needed information on the UCard Balance Benefit Program. Ali was patient, kind, knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions and got us on board to the benefit program. He explained exactly how it worked and set our plan in motion. He is a exceptional representative for this company and deserves the highest review.

Ucard barcode scanner gives inaccurate payable information

I have the UHC Advantage plan. As part of the plan perks, I receive a UCard with a monthly allotment to purchase food and medical supplies. Today I used the UHC app which has a shopping tool to scan the barcode of a product to see if it’s covered under the UCard benefit. I purchased feminine supplies which should have been allowed. For each item I scanned I received the approval message “This product qualifies for purchase using your benefit.” When I checked out my items, none of the items I scanned were covered/paid under the benefit. I had to pay almost $50 out of my pocket because the UCard barcode scanner gave inaccurate data. What’s the point of scanning items and receiving an approval message when the items are denied! I have no confidence that any item I check using the UCard barcode scanner will give me accurate results. VERY FRUSTRATING and worthless tool!!!!!!

Extremely disappointed with United…

Extremely disappointed with United Healthcare Dental. I lost a crown—a clear dental necessity—and had it replaced, only for UHC to deny the claim afterward. Apparently, they’re happy to take your monthly premiums but won't be there when you actually have a dental emergency. Their coverage is a safety net made of tissue paper. Avoid if you actually want your dental work covered.

UnitedHealthcare failed me when I…

UnitedHealthcare failed me when I needed them most.
After being hospitalized, I faced delays, lack of clarity, and unhelpful member services during a time when I was medically vulnerable. Communication was poor, information was inconsistent, and there was no sense of urgency despite clear time sensitivity.
Instead of support, I was left stressed and chasing answers while recovering. This experience showed a serious lack of care for members during critical health situations.
I would strongly caution anyone considering UnitedHealthcare to think carefully about how they handle real emergencies — not just what they promise on paper.

United healthcare not honorable with their word

on December 8, I ordered orthotics because the chat on United healthcare told me they would pay 80% of the course then on the 20th. I saw that Medicare denied it and before United healthcare denied it. I chatted with them again and they said don’t worry we’re gonna pay 80%. They did not pay anything. I got a bill for $2400. They’re not an honorable company. Let’s not with me. They would not follow up with their words.

To hell withvUHC

I signed up 4/2023 for a 3 year Golden Rule plan that I was promised was the premiere of products for those of us who have to buy our own. Cut to 12/2025 when they started emailing me to reapply for another 3 yr plan. I called 12/20 and was told I couldn't reapply until 1/14 but after they reviewed my medical history they told me I'd be approved and they would call me 1/14 to apply. They didn't call at the appointment time so I called them and applied and was told that it would go through. 1/22 I gota letter dated 1/16 stating that I had been denied due to seeing my primary care doctor 10/2/2025 and him listing a f33.1 dx, no other treatment was given. I go to the PCP and gyro once a year otherwise no other medical concerns and my only medication I pay out of pocket and have done. Nothing has changed since I started the policy same medication, same dose, same routine care. But 1 diagnosis code resulted in a denial. I called and after 3 hours of being transferred found that the denial was done by a human not AI according to the rep and the only option to appeal it is with 5 yrs of medical history. They have 3 yrs of medical history, I supplied the previous 2 yrs when I applied the first time. Why would they suddenly approve it on appeal? They took 3 years of payments resulting in about 18k for 2 PCP visits and 2 gyno visits. Now I have no coverage until next open enrollment. In November 2026. F UHC.

They refuse to give me a detail of dental services covered under my plan.…

They refuse to give me a detail of dental procedures and frequency covered on my plan. This is what the EOC says on page 98: "see the full list of covered dental services with associated frequency limitations, you can find it in the UHC Dental Medicare quick reference guide at uhcmedicaredentalproviderqrg.com." That link does not work and I spent over an hour on the phone with several people in customer service and they said I would have to get the list of covered dental services and frequency covered from my provider.

At this point I'm not even convinced that they are legitimate company. I've spent the last 3 days trying to figure out if I have insurance with them or not. I think my next move will be to call my state representative and have them investigated for fraud! I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy!

Why can't there be a zero starts

Why can't there be a zero starts? Over an our on the phone, 5 reps and 3 different companies and no one can tell me why they denied a bill from my dentist - not covered insurance, but just payment under my FSA. What incompetence.

I signed up again with UnitedHealth…

I signed up again with UnitedHealth this year because I received a letter from them in September 2025 showing me my benefits for 2026 . It was just about the same for 2026 as it was for 2025 my other benefits was the same 312.00 monthly so that was great for me because it helps with food and light bill. Well I checked it today January 1 2026 and I only have 230.00 I called them ask why I didn't get the 312 like my letter says. Several people later they say its trumps fault .ok if that is so I never received a letter from UnitedHealth telling me of the change. They mislead me and there is nothing I can do about it. Its sad that they can do this. Consumer service is a joke what they say goes .I will be changing as soon as I can.
