Good Platform with Room for Improvement
I’ve had a generally positive experience with Upwork. Recently, I’ve been getting access to more interesting and engaging projects, which makes the platform feel worthwhile and motivating to use.
However, there are still some areas that could be improved. I ran into an issue with the timesheet feature. I wasn’t able to log hours for previous dates, and when I logged an extra 20 minutes, it didn’t get added to the total hours correctly. This can be frustrating, especially when accurate time tracking is important for freelancers.
Overall, Upwork offers good opportunities, but improving the reliability and flexibility of its time tracking system would make the experience even better.

When I first started, it wasn’t all about spending money to get a job. Now if you want a job you basically have to pay for it.
I had to take a few years off to take care of my premature baby and am starting from the bottom and it’s difficult to get back on unless I want to spend a lot of money to apply for a project.

Honest mistake during ID verification — no human review given
I genuinely believe in Upwork as a platform — it represents a real opportunity for young freelancers like me to grow professionally and connect with clients worldwide. That's exactly why this experience has been so painful.
I am an 18-year-old developer from Ukraine. My account was permanently suspended during Identity Verification after I made an honest mistake: I printed an official PrivatBank digital statement, not knowing this violated Upwork's submission policy. No information was altered. The document was 100% authentic.
I submitted a BBB complaint (ID: 24758349) and a formal GDPR Article 22 request — and have received no meaningful human review. Support responses have been copy-paste rejections with no willingness to look at my individual case.
I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for one fair chance to submit the correct physical document. I have everything ready.
If Upwork has a process for genuine mistakes — I haven't been able to find it. Support Ticket: #54711029
