Multiplier functioned as my Employer of Record. The team themselves were always polite, friendly and responsive when contacted, and the portal is generally easy enough to use for submitting expenses, logging holidays and sick leave. Overall, the team were always pleasant to deal with and the system works at a very basic level, but I would have expected more practical HR support and flexibility from an Employer of Record service.

I found the service added very little value beyond acting as a basic administrative layer. While I appreciate that an Employer of Record sits between the employee and the hiring company, I expected more support similar to what you would normally receive from an HR representative.

For example, when I left my hiring company and had questions regarding settlement figures and contractual elements, Multiplier repeatedly referred me back to the hiring company as they were unable to answer. At the same time, the hiring company asked me to contact Multiplier as they were technically my employer. This resulted in a frustrating loop where neither side could provide clear answers.

The platform itself is functional but very limited. Holiday bookings can be submitted through the portal, but once entered they cannot be amended directly by the employee. If plans change, even months in advance, you cannot update the dates yourself and instead have to ask your hiring company to make the change. That feels unnecessarily restrictive given this is a very standard function in most HR systems. It’s actually quite a big flaw, and one that should be rectified.

There is a visible option to change your final date if you are leaving, BUT, the system doesn’t allow you to access it, so why have this visible? I gave extra notice to my employer via multiplier yet then had to go round in circles to amend end date, update letters, request new signatures and this still was not resolved 2 weeks before my final date, and there was no details stored in the system as they then asked me to countersign my exit letter from multiplier yet it was also locked and I was asked by one rep to send a letter, which I did, yet someone else asked me to sign, when I had already told them a month prior I couldn’t as access was not granted.

Hugely frustrating.

Another challenge if you are based in Europe is the time difference. The support team appears to be primarily based in Asia, which means that during the first part of the European working day there is often nobody available if you need assistance.
