A rip off and I WON'T be rver using them again
Disappointing
I have been a loyal customer of U-Want Taxi for 20 years. I even used to live next door to Mohammed, the owner of the company. Throughout the years, they have always been reliable and trustworthy, which is why I am so disappointed and upset by the way I was treated this morning.
I had booked a taxi to collect my 78-year-old mother from my house to take her to the airport. Just two minutes after the taxi left, I realised my mum had accidentally left her phone behind. Given her age and the fact she was travelling alone, I immediately called the taxi office. The person I spoke to said he would message the driver.
Fifteen minutes later, my mum hadn’t returned, so I called again. I explained the urgency and asked politely if he could call the driver directly, explaining that my mum is already anxious about travelling. Her boarding pass was on her phone, and I needed to stay in contact with her to ensure she was okay. He assured me he had checked the map and said she was already on her way back.
However, she didn’t return. An hour passed, and I called again. The person at the office simply repeated that he had texted the driver. I reminded him that he had previously told me she was on her way back, which clearly wasn’t true. It was obvious he had neither spoken to the driver nor properly checked.
What made this experience worse was his attitude. He said, “I don’t know why people have these mobile phones; if people can’t look after them, they shouldn’t have one!” before hanging up on me. This is completely unacceptable - especially considering my mum’s age and the situation.
It would have been no trouble at all for the driver to turn around to collect the phone, and of course, we would have happily paid any additional cost. After 20 years of loyalty, I am extremely disappointed with the rudeness and lack of basic customer service. This will be the last time I use U-Want Taxis.

More patience required. Deafness is a disability
U Want need to have more patience with deaf customers. My elderly mother’s car broke down today. She called U Want for a taxi and asked them to repeat what they said. They put the phone down on her leaving her stranded.
Avoid if booking airport runs!
We pre booked two Heathrow airport runs with U Want. I was quoted £45 each way.
The Website says £40, buts that’s only if you pay cash ( cash in the pocket preferred, if you know what I mean!).
When we returned, our flight was delayed by about 40 mins. We were aware that the driver had our flight details so that he could keep an eye on it and enter the terminals multi story car park at the appropriate time.
When we go home the fair was £55. Cash was preferred of course!.
When I questioned this increase, the driver stated that it was because he had been in the car park of an hour and the car park charge was £10.
I was too tired to argue, so reluctantly paid.
On that basis, if my flight had been delayed for 4 hours, would they expect me to paid 4 hours worth of airport parking, just because the driver couldn’t be bothered to check the flight!?!

My parents had similar issues with their airport run to Luton recently.
£100 each way was quoted when booking.
It turned out to be £106 there and £116 on return because the driver got to the mid stay pick up point too early ( sound familiar!). Once back, the driver requested cash of course, but my elderly mother and disabled father only had £100 cash. He took that and said the £16 could go on the card. As it was raining, he just stayed in the car and popped the boot, letting my mother lift her big heavy case out herself and then helping my father out of the car, because the driver didn’t want to get a little bit wet.
We’ll both be booking any future airport taxis with another company.

AVOID they don’t turn up on time very unorganised
We booked a taxi for a set time the day before only to then have the driver call us minutes before our taxi was due and he was 20 minutes away. He said he only just got the job through…yet we pre booked the day before. We used a local company as we thought they were better than Uber but AVOID this company! We had tickets for a day event and would have then been late.

I waited 30 minutes but they did not come
Their excuse was they didn’t know my full address

I am not sure why Charlotte Collins has got John Gray to write a report about me. I am Douglas Watts the driver that was in the accident with Charlotte I won’t go into details of the accident as I will leave it to the insurance company with a dash cam footage, but I will tell you. I showed her my Insurance, she took a Snapshot of my insurance when I asked her for her insurance, she went to her car and locked herself in and would not respond to me as she was on the phone. I was due to go to a meeting that I couldn’t miss so I did the right thing took pictures and handed her my insurance details as I have explained and then contacted my insurance that will be in touch with her insurance, I was not smiling or smirking. She was very cynical to people in the road when telling her to move her car. She was getting very Hi rated and she actually called 999, which is an emergency response and she was told off by that person on the phone for doing that. He told her to exchange insurance papers and she would not do that. You can ask any customer about me, I am one of the most courteous drivers on the fleet and a safe driver.

I recommend taxi u want because they have good fast cars but when it comes to the behavior of the drivers is tragic. today I overslept to work to the hospital taxi no. 4 did not have a device to pay the card. We drove home and he drove me to work. I was afraid, I reported to the office, when I came back he shouted and behaved aggressively. it's scary!!!! I want to pay with a 21st century new generation card and you can't because you need to have cash? there is screaming and verbal violence! please change it!!! I like this company my ex husband worked for. but now it's scary for a helpless woman who wants to get there quickly. Thank you.

Awful service. DO NOT BOOK!! Taxi to the airport late despite confirming earlier on the day. Taxi driver claimed he was only just told about the drop off hence why he was late. Customer service awful, no responsibility.

Booked a taxi yesterday for 3.30
Booked a taxi yesterday for 3.30. The taxi arrived at 3.20 and texted me to say they were there. When I went outside at exactly 3.30 they had gone. I had a train to catch so was somewhat annoyed and perplexed. Phone the office and they said he left because no one answered the phone. ( I did answer it but the connection didn’t work and in any case I was hurrying to be ready for 3.30 and had my phone charging in another room). Uwant said they were sending him back but 15 minutes later still no sign. I phoned the office again but they didn’t answer! Phoned on my wife’s phone and they did answer! They made some ridiculous excuse for not being there and that a car was on its way. Too late for my train and I ended up driving in to London instead.
My reasonable expectation is that my taxi would be there at the booked time and I will be ready at that time too.
Not the first time Uwant has let me down, hence this rating.
Won’t be using them again.
