The worst experiences I’ve had with a company
Hiring Van Houdt to sand and oil my wooden floor was, in my experience, a major mistake. The floor looked worse immediately after they finished — dark lines, gaps, and defects that I documented with photos and video. Despite multiple reports, the company denied everything without carrying out a proper on-site inspection.
Communication was also extremely unprofessional. Their employee Ricardo spoke to me in a way I experienced as dismissive and disrespectful. When I asked for a solution, he told me “this is not how it works in the Netherlands,” which I found completely unacceptable. The owner, Albert, asked for photos but later dismissed all concerns and offered no meaningful follow-up or inspection.
In the end, I had to cover the floor with PVC at my own expense just to make the space usable. For the high price charged, the overall experience and outcome were, in my view, far below any reasonable standard of service.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company to anyone.
