Avoid at all costs.

Avoid at all costs.
Having paid in full six months ago, I had an email saying that the payment has been refunded, nothing else, I had to contact them to find out why, they said owner had cancelled. Surely decent common courtesy should have stated a reason, so now with two months to go, I have to find further suitable accommodation, this was to be a family holiday for golden wedding celebration, this is in peak season, I have also spent £5000 on flights, Vrbo could care less. Due to health problems it would have been probably the last time the family will behave the opportunity to be all together.

Also I’m still awaiting for the repayment to reach my bank.

Attempt to over charge and very poor customer service

Vrbo attempted to charge us the same for a 10 night stay as for the 18 night we originally booked. Spent 2.5 hours of our holiday on the phone to them with our host. The issue would never have been resolved without the intervention of our very helpful host.
Would never use vrbo again.

Not helpful at all

not helpful at all, Ive not had our security deposit refunded and they just refer me back to the agent. We had issues with the property having rotten food left in the kitchen, the management company and VRBO didnt want to know. I would not book through them ever again, the worst experience Ive ever had with a holiday company

Review taken down by Vrbo. Unethical practices

Booked a 3 night self catering holiday let property in Norfolk, UK

Initial impressions of the property were positive but when we ended our short stay there were some comfort issues

I addressed these in a review of the property which was moderated and was posted on the Vrbo website. I gave the property 3 stars out of 5

I have since tried to look back at my review to read to a friend and found my review is no longer on their website, the only reviews that remain are all 5*.

I contacted Vrbo and they confirmed (by checking against my email address) that my review did not invalidate their review posting guidelines but could not give me a straight answer as to why my review had been removed nor why the only reviews that remain are all 5 star reviews

I told them that this practice is unethical and gives a false impression to any travellers looking for a property and reading reviews (like we do) before they book. They refused to re-post my review or to give an explanation as to why it had been removed or to give me a partial refund of my short break

I have made a formal complaint to the regulator and to BBC Watchdog

Be careful ! If you are booking a property through Vrbo be mindful that any negative reviews may have been omitted and that you don't get a full (and honest) review from travellers

Total con and out of pocket over £300

I booked and paid for a weekend stay in London. The week before little to no communication. On the day of check in I was unable to gain access or get hold of anyone. I was left stranded. Unable to get my money back apparently it’s my fault! How can this possibly be right?

Vbro has scam rentals.

Vbro has scam rentals.
I ordered a house in Croatia, registered the credit card in the order form, shortly after I got email from someone posing as agents for the house owner asking me to pay the full amount pr bank.
Fortunately I found a warning in Trustpilot that the agent was a scam and did not pay.
I have reported this to Vbro, no reaction from them, the fake rental is still available on their webpage.
Be very careful if renting a property through Vrbo.

As a new host we listed brand new…

As a new host we listed brand new apartment opposite 18th hole on McCracken Golf and Country Club, property is also currently listed with Airbnb with a number of 5 star reviews only. Subsequently advised by numerous VRBO advisors property had been listed, but when you enter search property cannot be located or shows up on mapping. This has gone on for a week now and still no resolution, so it’s a shame that stayz and VRBO customers cannot access, will ask to delete from VRBO and keep property on Airbnb only. This is the only brand new apartment 100 meters from Golf Club, 900 meters from beach, such a shame VRBO letting opportunity for the accom to be listed. No action, no communication, no care.

When someting goes wrong they don't help. I had a few niggles with a House I satyed in Asserac Pen Be. Owner asked for money on arrival for two sets sheets (150EU !) Cat in property and all wardrobes etc locked so we had to live outof suitcase... minor niggles really but when I called VRBO to ask why the 150 EU wasnt on website they said some people takes sheets on holiday, .. I agve up- clearly didnlt wnat to help .. maybe you contact property owner or leave an honest review. they wouln't contact porperty owner for me, All I wanted was for the bedding. wardrobes and cat situation to be on the website so others know before booking nut no thats too much to ask ! Issue is reviews go straight to property owner before publishing and i suspect they will never be published. Avoid

Total scam

Total scam. We paid for a house that didn’t exist. The guarantee Vrbo provide means they only help you 3 days before you are due to start your stay. They are so slow that after 8 calls and 6 messages we still did not get an answer on time I.e. the day we were supposed to stay in the house we’d booked. So we had to find (and pay) for alternative accommodation. Will we ever get our money back?!

Canceled 1 week before my travel

Booked a property in Puerto Rico in Feb for April visit. I received confirmation about booking and everything was good until a week before travel. The property manager said they don't have property available and when I said I was disappointed she canceled reservation. VRBO's customer service said they can help us find another property but there were slim pickings. All similiar level properties were either gone or much expensive. Vrbo wouldnt cover the difference and there help was not really any help. So I booked on Airbnb. Since I didnt stay at the property, Vrbo wouldnt even allow me to share my experience about the property with other customers.

VRBO disappoints both property owners and their guests!

VRBO manages a holiday rental which I've had since 2006. I was originally with Holiday Rentals, this was taken over by HomeAway and service was still good, now VRBO have taken over it is so disappointing with very poor communications and support for owners. Without us they would have no business, I cannot imagine how it is for the poor travellers.
Everything is about the money for them and they manipulate the owners to perform like circus animals in order to gain Premier Host position but the hoops they require us to jump through are many and they can punish us by removing our premier host status if we disappoint them by not accepting every booking. An example is if a guest doesn't meet our minimum booking period with their request and we have to decline it they cancel the Premier Host status!

DATED AIR CON.
DIRTY COOKER.

TV CHANNELS LOCKED.
WIFI USELESS.

Property was mis-represented

Property was mis-represented. Bathroom was not functional - sign posted on arrival not to use it. Condition of bathrooms were terrible...full renovation required. No lock on door - when previous traveller complained and owner said it had been 'taken care of'. Deep clean required. Grimy-not to any acceptable standard. VRBO did not support us as traveller. Owner on vacation was in contact but they could not rectify condition of property as full reno needed.. Request to be re-situated ignored by VRBO. Owner refunded at their own discretion £17 per day...as if that made any difference to us. Insulting. With VRBO you are not guaranteed any degree of cleanliness or good repair. Purely at the whim of the owner who may or may not care. Will never use VRBO again and advise others to use another vacation rental platform and to review terms very closely before booking. VRBO told us they were there to help us but they did not. We have followed up with VRBO since our return and they listened to the complaint we have not heard anything back from the since. Clearly they do not care about the traveller experience...only the homeowner.

Vrbo take the money but don't provide the goods.

We booked our holiday property in France via the Vrbo web site in February. We paid the initial deposit and received immediate confirmation that the booking was confirmed so committed to the necessary travel arrangements. We settled the balance of the rental early, in April, and received further confirmation that the booking was confirmed but when we subsequently attempted to contact the host for arrival instructions we had no success. It appears that the property has changed ownership. Vrbo were informed and initially promised a substitute rental as good as or better than the original. However, they introduced several delays (to make contact with the host, to search for an alternative, etc.). Three weeks from start of holiday and Vrbo have terminated the conversation. No refund, no rental property.

What a disappointment

Vrbo have no clear complaints procedure, and it's clear why. They have no intention of supporting the customer. I paid in full to a host, who then pulled the property as a listing and sold it (without telling me) even though I was due to stay in it. They did not notify me, nor did Vrbo, nor did Vrbo do anything to prevent this situation from arising. Only because I persisted did the host / Vrbo admit the villa was no longer available - they offered no apology. Just refunded money without any care, as though it's just a case of returning money. It's not, it's about trust, transparency, and providing a positive experience. Vrbo has failed to provide any of the above . Now I've had to book with another company - at a higher cost because there is less availability. If I hadn't have chased... we could have turned up and had no where to stay! I would not use Vrbo ever again.
