venmo just does not work

venmo just does not work. i used it a couple years ago just a couple times, but i could not get it to work this past week. it would not verify my bank, even though i could see the two deposits plain as day. can't speak to a human. i closed my account. lots of bad reviews. bye venmo!

Not just bad ... useless

Are Venmo's instructions even worse than their product? I don't know, because the instructions are so horribly wrong, I couldn't use the product. I asked: How do I add money? They answered: 1. Go to Me tab. 2. Tap Add Money. So I went to Me tab. Where I found nothing. No Add Money anywhere. I tapped every word everywhere on the Me tab. Not a thing about adding money. I went to all other tabs. Not a thing about adding money. I took my problem to three people who know tech, including the IT staff for my apt building--all were stumped. Can't add money means can't use Venmo. The End.

Considering new customers warning! Dont waste your time there is way more and way better cards and apps to go through besides this one its the worst on getting you your mobey back if you ever get scammed my husband got scammed on thos card witch by he way he use dont barley uses it they took the money I sent him in there witch was over $200 he called them and costumer service was a nightmare you already know the old sae o sonng n.dan that foreign you cant even understand BS. Then they keep you on the phone far 45 mins or more just to tell you they dont if they could get your money back and if so just for them to make a decision it's going to take 7 to 10 business days when they will let you know so so ppl if your using your banks for a business with alot money definitely do not want to go to use VENMO! Your money will not and I mean not be protected and think my husband never makes in line purchases or gives his debit # out then the app sucks every time I try to link my tryingyou debit carsd it always says error and thats not only me it happens to and its not a one time thing either because thats what there gonna respond back on this review lol its always the costumers fault never the business your complaining about just sayin

Venmo Customer support wants to sue me

I recently had a buyer use their business account on Venmo to buy something I was selling online. The transaction immediately got paused because I did not have a business account and could not accept the payment. my account was frozen and so was the buyers until he sent an additional $500 to me since that was the policy for businesses apparently. In order for me to receive it I had to set up all my Venmo accounts as business accounts. I had no idea of how long or confusing this process would be when I called. The Venmo rep had me screen sharing, making transfers from credit cards to bogus bitcoin wallets, transferring money into one bank account from another back again. This whole process took 3 and a half hours! By the end I was swearing at him and he threatened to sue me if I didn't stop. They did a poor job of explaining the whole purpose and process and just expected me to follow their directions no matter how uncomfortable I was with them.

Well since I can't give zero Stars I have to give it a one I wouldn't even give it a one. Don't waste your time with this platform if you go to do the auto reload you're better off just leaving it in the original account that you had it in so you can spend it because they're going to hold your money 5 days or more telling you it'll be available such and such day and then when such and such day comes your money still not there when you could have had it if you had just left it in the original spot. Then they got this rude chat rep who claimed his name is Kant but he can't help you with anything he's just going to give you the runaround but the AI gives you which is another conversation in itself. Don't waste your time with this it'll add to your frustration and hold your money when you really need it I need gas like right now and they holding my money.MY MONEY!!!! So frustrated right now I have $100 to my name that I can't even get access to.

Venmo froze 2 payments

Venmo froze 2 payment sent as friends and family for work my moving company did for a woman who lied and said we never did the job. Complete lie and I provided Venmo with all the evidence that we did the work and the customer paid us via Venmo. Even writing "awesome movers" on one of the payments. Venmo did no investigation and automatically demanded I pay back the $1440 and now my account is frozen. Sorry not paying back for service rendered and paid for. Venmo is a joke. They don't protect their customers and lie about what qualifies to even claim a refund. They committed Fraud and wire fraud and broke the Rico act. Venmo needs to be shut down for illicit business practices.

If I could I wouldn't even leave 1 star. This company is breaking ground on how totally terrible a company can be. This review isn't out of anger, it's out of disbelief on how a company can be so terrible to their account holders and not give a damn. Money was taken out of my account on October 14th last year and it wasn't me. It got cleared up and I received my money back on December 24th. Glad you could get on it and clear it up Venmo, and so fast, not. Now they've even outdid themselves even more. I do work for a friend and she pays me on Venmo. This morning I received notice after notice that she disputing all her transactions. Now my account shows Venmo is holding over $3,600 in my account until this clears up. I talked to my friend and she had no idea what was going on. She looked at her account and it was suspended for fraud. She's called Venmo, talked to a manager and was told the same crap I was the last time I had an issue. We'll notify you by email on what we find. I had money in my account for my mortgage payment. I'm sure the mortgage company isn't going to wait for two months to get their payment. I know all this will be cleared up but I'm betting it will take another 2 months to do it. And their review team who no one can actually talk to seem to think everyone has so much money that it's ok to inconvenience them forever. Venmo goes way beyond how a company can show they have no respect and do not care about their customers in any way, shape, or form. PayPal should be so embarrassed to even be mentioned at anytime to have connections to Venmo. This is beyond belief how Venmo is ran.

Don’t waste your time!been on the phone with their stupid Ai Asian sounding operator for 10 minutes asking me to repeat, didn’t get it, what was that,I missed that say that again, when I’m not even speaking and won’t transfer me to someone who can help!! I wanted to change my number earlier and they were having technical issues and forwarding my issue to another department.. I can’t believe they would rather program this bs to go around in circles rather than help after I said help tooooooo many times!!! Ridiculous!!! Don’t waste your money with a company who rather not help!!!!

Besides the real operators literally talk tooo much, as if this is a 1900 number I’m calling, with chickens 🐓 in the background! Not even worth the headache! I especially can’t stand the region of people who take the phone calls !! They talk tooo much much as if they want to make out with you, wasting your time.. it’s not like texting with them on the phone would solve your issues any faster! Which is why id rather speak to someone because texting would take twice as much time and effort and energy!! I don’t know why these companies now think texting over the phone solves issues any faster when the person you’re texting is helping 4-10 others at the same time!! What a joke customer service is lately! I just closed my account as Cash App never gave me issues and is better by a long shot in my professional opinion!!

Venmo can’t be trusted.

I opened Venmo 45 days ago and today I’m closing this account. Venmo can’t be trusted and their customer service agent are DUMB!! They have no idea what they’re doing, after waiting 1 1/2 hours for one of the non helpful agent.
Asking 1 simple question.
My transactions get denied 4-8 times a day because no one want Venmo having access to their machines due to theft and fraud. I’ll use a diffrent platform.

Hardly use this app and with my recent horrible experience I will never use it again. I wanted to send funds to my granddaughter and I inadvertently sent it to an old account she had which had been locked. She had problems accessing it so she created a new account. After realizing my mistake I tried to contact Venmo customer service. It took me over two hours before I could get a live agent. Then was told there was nothing I could do to get my money back. So the account is locked and why does it accept payments received rather than reject them. Guess Venmo keeps my couple of hundred bucks.. modern day thieves 😡

CLUSTER ****!

Holy crap. If there was a rating less than one star, I would try to go negative star. A cluster. I thought Comcast, infinity and Verizon were bad. They don't even hold a candle to bad customer service compared to Venmo. If you ever actually get ahold of a human being They will literally drop you in the middle of a call.Hand of god- happened to me 3 times in 1 day. Their system is a mess. God forbid you ever need to change your password or If you change phones or change service providers you're on your oww if you need assistance, it's like being pushed out of a helicopter over the Amazon in a crocodile infested river. You have more luck getting out that river without a scratch than ever getting a bit of customer service from Venmo. They should fess up on their sites and advertisements and say, Hey, we have no customer service. So you are on your own to try to navigate their poorly designed online or human customer service.

Impossible to contact

Impossible to contact a human. Going to the dispute section takes 15 message just to get connected, and once connected the replies are so slow its faster to download their competitor's app. Highly disappointed, won't be using.

They are doing illegal stuff and won't fix it even with proof

I've literally had customer service wine and moan. I have caught them twice double dipping where the transaction went through on my end and then on the merchant ends who showed me what they saw it said declined. I only got a picture of one which they did refund cuz I had proof but the second one they did not refund and it was too old for the merchant to find then it happened at a completely different store later. Then a merchant accidentally charged me and then charged me again for the greater amount when I added an item so it was a mistake on their end and I went to them to have it fixed but the boss wasn't in they said that they'd have to order a new card then and I said well it's not like it's lost or stolen or was on purpose it was just that I put my card in and it apparently cleared twice and I'll go back and talk to the boss we can't fix it okay and then he started moaning so I hung up because I was already bit the flustered anyway and I just had already had it with them and I want to be nice person despite what's going on. This was just supposed to be so I could take payments from people who had Venmo. it's not a main account and it's still cost me over hundreds of bucks in a year by there BS

Lost Between eBay and Venmo With No Resolution

I purchased an item on eBay in early December 2025. When it arrived, there were loose parts rattling around inside the expensive kitchen gadget. I contacted the seller right away and they responded quickly at first. They offered a $20 refund for the missing feet on the machine, but completely ignored the more serious issue of a broken internal part.

I replied and waited. Then I followed up again a couple of weeks later and received no response.

I ended up missing the return window by one day. eBay told me to contact Venmo, which was confusing because I always use PayPal, yet this order had somehow gone through Venmo instead. Venmo advised me to file a chargeback, so I did.

All communication was handled through their in app chat, and I followed every instruction. A few days after submitting the claim, Venmo asked for screenshots of my conversation with the seller. I sent them immediately.

About a week later, I received an alarming email stating my claim was closed because I had not provided the requested evidence. I was completely confused. I went back into the chat, explained that I had already sent everything, and was told it was a mistake and that the case would be reopened.

That was three weeks ago. No updates, no emails, nothing. I started another chat and had a completely different experience. The agent was extremely unhelpful, repeatedly told me nothing could be done, and eventually ended the chat. I asked multiple times to speak with someone else and was told there was no one who could help.

The eBay seller disappeared entirely. eBay could not reach them, which was surprising given their excellent reviews.

I tried starting another chat and it was closed without anyone responding. At this point, they will not even talk to me.

This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.

Just tried to open Venmo account

Just tried to open Venmo account. Wanted to send money and linked bank account. No link available to send money directly and it wants me to fund an account, but there is no easy navigation to do so. Even when tried to cancel app, it was not as explained. Avoid at all costs
