Shady Practise…

We have been with Vets for Pets for a good three years. Around six months ago, we had our dog spayed. At the time, we were told the total cost for the procedure would be £330. We attended the pre-operative check, went ahead with the surgery, and everything seemed fine.

Later, we needed a travel document for our dog, which we paid £100 for—again, no issues at the time.

However, today we took our dog in for another appointment and were informed that the pre-op check—despite being included in the spaying cost—had actually been counted as a separate vet consultation and deducted from our healthcare plan. This was never explained to us.

On top of that, the travel document we paid for was also counted as another consultation under our plan. Again, this was never mentioned or discussed with us beforehand.

I contacted other Vets for Pets practices in Newport, Kingswood, and Bristol, and they all confirmed that the pre-op check is included in the spaying price (which is the same £330). However, the Caerphilly branch appears to have its own pricing structure and policies, according to their reception team.

This isn’t about the £60 consultation fee—it’s about the lack of transparency and what I consider to be very poor practice.

Maks is a Guinea Pig Guru!

We had been to see Maks at New Malden Vets4Pets as one of our Guinea Pigs, Mabel, had been having a few tummy issues and Maks diagnosed her with IBS. Maks was incredibly thorough when examining Mabel, which was a relief as no other vets had been able to get to the bottom of what was going on. Maks was incredibly reassuring and helpful throughout the process, and helped put our minds at ease with managing our long-term care for Mabel. He is kind, reassuring and knowledgeable in his approach during what was a worrying time. Maks is an absolute expert in his field, a total Guinea Pig Guru and I wouldn't use another vet now for our Guinea Pigs!

We’ve been bringing our three boys here…

We’ve been bringing our three boys here for their care, and we couldn’t be happier. Amy and her team are always professional, kind, and genuinely care about our boys . Our boys are always treated with patience and attention, and it’s clear the team takes the time to make sure they are comfortable and well cared for.

Every visit has been a positive experience. The staff explain everything clearly, answer any questions we have, and never make us feel rushed. It gives us real peace of mind knowing our boys are in such capable and compassionate hands.

We’re very grateful for the excellent care they receive and would highly recommend Amy and her team to anyone looking for a trustworthy and dedicated team to look after their pets.

Not happy at all.

4 different vets 4 different diagnoses, plus 2 scans, 2 blood tests, etc., different tablets every time. £3,000 plus, an operation, = 1 dead 8-year-old beloved fur baby! Very upset and disgusted, not the vet's, they were?

Great branch at Quedgley, Gloucester.

Took my dog to the Quedgley, Gloucester branch. Got an appointment within a day of enquiring. Jake was brilliant with my slightly nervous dog and did everything to accommodate her. He was very thorough with his explanation of how to treat my dog’s allergy and I’m hoping that the medication she’s been prescribed will help with her itching and swelling. Very reasonably priced and will work with my insurance.

Mistakes are costly, check prescriptions!!

I had a very traumatic experience with the PDSA so instead I registered here(Queen Margaret drive branch) a few years ago.
Good experience with them until my dog was diagnosed with liver cancer, dispensing errors and high costs have made an already stressful situation much much worse.
You have to chase urgently needed prescriptions all over Glasgow to be fulfilled and we dont drive, not everyone does, they also charge for meds before you get them and forget to put them in the meds bag. This has happened way too many times. While they are shortening hrs to save money the costs are astronomical for pet owners.
Pet owners Please Double check any urgent prescriptions before you go home, my pet is left with no pain relief until Tuesday now, today is only Thursday.

A student nurse created a heartbreaking situation

I was informed today (12th March) that the ashes that have been returned to Bletchley Vets for Pets practice following my beloved dogs passing on the 25th Feb, ‘may’ not be hers. An individual cremation was organised at the time of my dogs passing.

Apparently, this follows an administrative error by one of the practices ‘students nurses’. A student. They entered the WRONG DOGS NAME on the form that should have gone with my Bossy to the crematorium. The level of incompetence astounds me.

Dan Fippard (Practice owner and head nurse) called me today and informed me of what had happened. Two weeks ago, my dog died, and now they were telling me a student, part of their team who they were responsible for, made a mistake so the ashes ‘might’ not be Bossy’s. Did senior staff check anything? Was anyone checking what this student was doing? No. This situation I am now in, created by Bletchley Vets for Pets is disgusting. I have three other dogs at the practice; how can I trust them to treat my pets now?

I went in and spoke with Amy Converse (practice owner) and Dan today and was obviously very upset and angry. They quickly got around the ‘ethical malpractice’ side of things as they stated they have been open and honest and have not lied to me about the matter. Amy said that the matter had been investigated and that the student had been ‘spoken to’. Spoken to! Amy even said ‘we are human, we make mistakes’. This is beyond a mistake, this is devastating, not knowing if the vile sat on a shelf in the storeroom at Bletchley Vests for pets is my dog or not. They ‘believe’ it is but cannot guarantee it following their student’s mistake.

The practice must take responsibility. They said this was the first time ever this has happened at the Bletchley Vets for Pets. But they did say that we would get our money back from the euthanasia and the cremation! WOW!

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) protects the public interest by ensuring animal health and welfare. In caring for my poor Bossy after she passed, Bletchley Vets for Pets have failed.

I have asked the RCVS to investigate, to guarantee that the ashes my family get back ARE Bossy’s and that the individual who created this devastating situation is not at the practice, or with animals.

Again, an individual cremation was asked for, and apparently went ahead, but with the student nurses mistake, who knows whose ashes are in the vile, it doesn’t have my Bossy’s name on it.

Vets for Pets MUST do something about this situation. I must have my Bossy’s ashes back and a guarantee from Vets for Pets that they are her ashes.

Bletchley Vests for pets are refusing to name the student nurse.

Vets4Pets in Chester

Today I visited Vets4Pets in Chester after finding a small pigeon struggling and drowning in the canal. I managed to rescue it, warm it up and brought it to the clinic hoping someone could help.
The lady who assisted me was incredibly kind and compassionate. She immediately took the bird in so it could receive treatment and made me feel that I had come to the right place. Her attitude and care meant a lot.
As someone who deeply loves nature and all of God’s creatures, I am truly grateful for people like the team at Vets4Pets. Their willingness to help even a small wild bird shows real kindness and humanity.
Thank you for the care, compassion and professionalism you showed today. It means a lot to know there are people who care for animals in this way.

Disgusting

Disgusting. Weymouth vets for pets.
Dog had a flea allergy with difficult breathing. 3 weeks later and 500 down. No diagnosis. No hepl with breathing! Turns out just a flea allergy. Went to them and explained my fears looking for a resolution. No flea treatment provided, still, after 4th consultation and blood work. Came back today with nothing but dog with breathing difficulties. At the end of my tether. Disgusting 🫣

Absolutely awful service from Glasgow…

Absolutely awful service from Glasgow Pollokshaws- was on health plan for my pet. They try to charge you for service when plan includes vet and nurse visits. I can uderstand if furthertm treatment or medication is required. But this ws service based - vet signing paperwork for a test...do given ive paid for the vets consultations im supposd to pay on top of that for them to sign paperwork. Im not asking them to do the test...im paying for it to be sent to specialist lab...so all they were asked was to sign the paperwork. Supposed to get flea and worm but cause my cat was pregnant they refused to give me a alternative suitable for pregnant cat...so even though its supposed to be part of plan to het monthly treatments which i have paid for, i had to source and pay additional cost...they didnt even reimburse me because they didnt have flea treatment they could give me for my preg. Cat...surprising given they are a vet practice and they are located in pets at home store! But that doesnt surprise me as when i commenced the plan, first time with my new cat, they didnt provide with treatments for months, didnt send reminders either. Its only down the line i realised and then they apologised and partially refunded. They also got dates mixed up and refused to provide me for my cats last month when I know i didnt and showed them the email to verify my last collection. But still they refused. They also say a treatment is part of a plan and then you go for that they say it isnt and try to charge you. Thats happended with nurse treatment..and i asked if a specific treatment was included in plan and was told yes and on the day after the treatment they said no it wasnt!. Supposed to have 2 vet visits as part of plan but then try to charge you for the service when you're there saying that isnt part of the plan e.g. signing paperwork for me to get lab testing done. As part of the plan ive paid for the service and then they want to additionally charge for a service?? I asnt asking for them to carry out the tests - it was going to langfords and i was paying for that...they wanted to charge for vet consulation - signing the form - even though plan includes 2 vet consultations! Absolutely underhand service. Avoid at all cost.

Truly caring vets

I have had my pets here for many years. They were truly exceptional when my dog had a life ending episode when they were closing. I rung and they stayed after hours to give my dog the dignified end of life that he deserved. All my pets have been treated with kindness and professionalism. I cannot fault them. I would recommend to anyone. I recently brought my very nervous dog for treatment and she was given time and and gentle care so she wasn't stressed. You can't ask for anything more.

Excellent Veterinary Care, Unprofessional Reception Staff

07032026 15:18 - We received fantastic service from the veterinarian himself, but unfortunately, our experience was marred by a very unprofessional encounter with the receptionist at the Gillingham branch. After an appointment error was made, she became rude and defensive, eventually threatening to ask us to leave simply because I challenged the mistake.
This was an incredibly uncomfortable experience, especially for my autistic son, who found her behaviour very upsetting. Thankfully, her colleague Brandon was much more helpful and assisted us in speaking with the vet. While the medical team is great, the front-of-house conduct needs significant improvement.

All for profit- dont care about pets

Brought in a stray offered to pay for flee and worms treatment repeatedly said I am not willing to pay for consultation and don’t want the cat to be registered to me but was charged £76 which included £56 consultation fee which took less than 10 min and was done within my own cat appointment time which was already paid for. All for profit dont care about pets. Mind that’s a male receptionist the lady that worked there long time is very nice and caring and always happy to help and advise

Extremely disappointing experience

Extremely disappointing experience with Vets4Pets Crawley and the subsequent response from Head Office.
My dog requires ongoing pain medication following major orthopaedic surgery, so reliable medication management is absolutely essential. In January I requested medication in advance and clearly stated when it would be needed. Despite this, the medication was not ordered when it should have been and ended up being several days late.
As a result, my dog was left without essential pain relief and experienced significant discomfort and a noticeable deterioration in mobility. This decline was later confirmed during a hydrotherapy session. Once the medication was finally provided and restarted, mobility returned to baseline, clearly demonstrating the impact the delay had.
When I attended the practice to resolve the issue, the Practice Manager initially acknowledged that the medication had not been ordered when it should have been. I was asked to put my concerns in writing so the situation could be used for staff training to ensure it did not happen again. However, when I later submitted a formal complaint, the written response completely contradicted that earlier conversation and responsibility was instead redirected back to me. Throughout the complaint process I also found the Practice Manager’s communication abrupt and dismissive.
Unfortunately the situation was made worse during a later visit when I attended to collect medications and prescriptions. During this interaction I was spoken to abruptly and unprofessionally by a receptionist in front of other clients, which was both embarrassing and unnecessary.
There were also occasions where communication with one of the vets was extremely difficult due to a significant language barrier, which made discussing medication and treatment clearly very challenging.
I do want to acknowledge that Head Vet Maria and Vet Rachael have both been excellent whenever we have dealt with them directly. They have always been professional, compassionate and supportive, and they were instrumental in ensuring the correct medication was eventually provided.
After receiving what I felt was an inadequate response from the practice, I escalated the matter to Head Office. Unfortunately this was equally disappointing. The response felt dismissive and lacked any meaningful acknowledgement of the avoidable pain caused to my dog or the concerns raised about the way the situation had been handled.
I fully understand that mistakes can happen in any organisation. What matters is how those mistakes are acknowledged and addressed. In this case the repeated medication issues, the way concerns were handled locally, and the lack of meaningful acknowledgement from Head Office have left me with very little confidence in the organisation.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that improvements can be made and no other pet owner has to experience their animal being left in avoidable pain due to administrative failures.
