A really unique gift idea

A really excellent gift set, fantastic attention to detail and a really prompt delivery service. I was looking for a really unique gift idea for my elderly mother, who loves tea! This was a breath of fresh air. It was packaged so well, and the quality was superb.

Retirement Tea Bags

I purchased the Retirement Tea bags. They came in a small box gift wrapped and bow. It was £1 for box and £2 for the bow… what a joke. The box was small so paper and bow were small. How do they justify the cost of the paper and bow? They should have been free! I wouldn’t buy again

Hi Muriel,

Thanks for your review, but I’m sorry to hear you felt the £2 cost to gift wrap the handcrafted tea giftset was too expensive for you. I’m a small business owner and I don’t feel it’s realistic to expect small businesses to offer gift wrapping services for free, unless you know where it’s possible to source wrapping paper and ribbon for zero pounds (although that still wouldn’t take into account the time it takes to wrap the giftset)?

Even Amazon (which obviously isn’t a small business) charges for gift wrapping and in fact they charge more than I do (their prices are £2.95 for small products, £3.95 for medium-sized ones or £4.95 for large ones), and their idea of gift wrapping is to throw the product into an oversized purple bag with Amazon branding on it… not exactly equivalent to wrapping a giftset in beautiful wrapping paper and tying it up with ribbon.

It’s a pity you didn’t contact me through the website you ordered through if you were unhappy, as I would have been able to offer you a refund if you’d done so.

Having said that, I’d like to thank you for choosing to order from a small business on this occasion instead of a huge company like Amazon, I really do appreciate every single order and take the utmost care when both making the giftsets and when gift wrapping them.

Best wishes,
Victoria

Could have been better

I ordered a jug from this company via notonthehighstreet, it was advertised as "made in the UK" which is always a plus point.

Delivery was prompt and first impressions of the jug were good. However in use it proved a little less impressive, it won't sit level as the base is not flat and so wobbles, also it's not a great pourer - I use it for milk and it always "dribbles" so ends up leaving milk on the table or worktop.

On closer examination the underside of the jug says "decorated in England" so my guess is that the bare ceramic is imported at low cost and as a result the quality is somewhat lacking. On the plus side, the decoration is beautifully done.

In summary, the jug looks nice but is less practical than I really wanted, lacks a little in quality and I'm disappointed that the "made in England" claim turned out to be somewhat misleading.
