Excellent customer service

On behalf of my daughter I requested, directly to Vietnam Airlines, a cancellation and refund for 2 tickets. It was very last minute due to personal reasons and I sent an email. Even though it was five am in Vietnam I had responses immediately. Also, their chat line was super helpful and within hours I was contacted several times explaining how to apply for the refund, even though the flight was two days away. Besides a small cancellation fee all the monies were returned. I have never received such prompt and excellent service from an airline. Most Airlines you cannot talk to; if you email they take weeks to get back. Vietnam Airlines surpassed all my expectations. I have also flown with them and their service was great. An amazing airline that I wish all the others could emulate. Congratulations Vietnam Airlines.

Worst website on the planet

Worst website on the planet.

After spending ages looking for flights, entering details, signing up etc

I cannot get past this error ONE OR MORE FREQUENT FLYER CARD IS/ARE INVALID" .. I haven't even attempted to enter a flyer number, I didn't want one, so i signed up for one and it still won't let me pass.

This website is so unbelievably awful I have completely changed my plans and flying to a completely different part of the country , that is how bad your website is to deal with. I would rather walk for 10 years to my destination than use this abomination of a website.

Can not recommend

Useless app, time-consuming and inefficient. No information from airline regarding ones flight. No possible way of contacting Vietnam airlines other than to CALL VIETNAM? Dont run a world wide business and leave your clients in the dark?
Poor food and very limited service on board. Old aircrafts with worn out seats. Canceled return flight with no compensation.

Not the best not the worst...

Recently visited Vietnam and had to take both internal and external flights. My internal flight time from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City was changed by the airline by 2.5 hours but I was not notified and only discovered when I arrived at the airport.
During my 13 hour long haul flight my charging portal and entertainment screen were not properly working (this seems to be a common trend with Vietnam Airlines). The staff did reset the system for me once but it still did not work so I was left to stare at a wall for 13 hours. I did tend to find some of the air staff abrupt but not all.

I fortunately booked to go to Melbourne…

I fortunately booked to go to Melbourne Australia in January 2026 so our outward flight on March 24th was not affected by the Middle East problems.
All flights were on time going and coming back on April 22nd 2026 seats in Premium Economy were comfortable and spacious, food was ample and tasty, cabin crew were helpfull, had a slight problem with the entertainment system on the last leg home to London but the cabin crew tried there best to resolve the issue.
Overall it was a good experience, and would definitely fly with them again, especially as the price we paid was around 20% less than the other carriers on that route when we booked

NEVER EVER AGAIN!

NEVER EVER AGAIN!

Do not be fooled by the big name and the “4-star airline” image Vietnam Airlines likes to promote. With ticket prices that are far from cheap, you might expect a high-quality experience, but the reality is the exact opposite. This is, without exaggeration, the worst airline I have ever flown with, and I travel very frequently, having tried dozens of airlines worldwide.

The customer service is absolutely catastrophic! Unfriendly, unprofessional, and completely inflexible. As a very tall passenger, I rely on booking extra legroom seats, which is standard practice across most airlines. However, with Vietnam Airlines’ “Super Light” economy fare, it is not even possible to select or upgrade seats within economy, not even for an additional fee. My equally tall travel companion and I were randomly assigned seats next to each other, and there was no way to change this, not even to at least get aisle seats or more legroom, which is normally a basic option elsewhere. The ground staff in Frankfurt literally told us, “You booked the subclass,” and refused any assistance.

It gets worse: upgrading to Premium Economy or Business Class was also not possible. When I asked about a Business Class upgrade in Hanoi, the only response I received was “expensive, expensive” with no explanation or willingness to help. This is not how you treat paying customers who are clearly interested in spending more money on a better product.

Onboard, the experience didn’t improve. The cabin crew seemed poorly trained, with very limited English skills. The food was of very low quality and served on unacceptable wooden tableware, something that should not happen on a long-haul flight in this price category. Seating was extremely uncomfortable, with barely any space. My seat was even broken, with a sharp, exposed metal spring sticking out that repeatedly pierced my knee when sitting down or getting up. I left the plane with a bleeding knee.

Additionally, there were significant delays and a complete lack of organization during boarding and deboarding.

Overall, Vietnam Airlines managed to disappoint on every level. I would strongly advise against flying with them.

Thieves

Using Booking.Com, I upgraded my seats and paid the difference requesting the emergency exit aisle. When I got to the airport, they denied me my seats because of age. I was fine with that. However, give me the extra money I spent back. They refused to do so. They said I had to go through Booking.com. Booking. Com said they gave the money to the airlines. Meanwhile, I’m stuck in the middle of the mess and no money

I've contacted a lot of airlines but never once being treated so lowly like Vietnam Airline did to me. The way they answered to the question is so rude and low manner. I will never recommend this airline to anyone even it's cheap.

Worst Airline I've ever taken

Worst Airline I've ever taken

+20 years since I travel and Vietnam Airlines is the worst I've ever had.
Hanoi - Paris flight was delayed by 7 hours (6h47 minutes exactly). It was a technical problem and Vietnam Airlines REFUSE to give a compensation saying the problem happened after push-back, WTF?

Our "meal" was a single simple pastry served 4 hours in the delay, same for blankets. People were already sleeping.

0/10 airline, worst customer service I've ever seen. DO NOT TAKE THIS AIRLINE

Non existent lotusmiles customer service

Non existent customer service relating to lotusmiles. I have been emailing them for several months regarding lotusmiles and issues with my account and ID verification. They fail to respond to my issues with any level of undwrstanding if the issues and replies are generic and meaningless and deal with the issues raised. So frustrated that the service relating to lotusmiles makes me consider to stop using the airline as the issues I'm experiencing givebmenissues from booking tickets, checking in, crediting airmiles to my Lotus account etc.....nothing is simple and countless emails later and I'm made zero progress with their customer service team. I've spoken to staff at the Airports on many occasions. They understand the issue and apologise forbthem but advise the issues can only be resolved by the lotusmiles customer service team and so round and round I go for months with no resolution.

Violation of duty of care and no help

We, a family of three, had booked return tickets with Vietnam Airlines for flights from Amsterdam via Frankfurt to Vietnam on 8 January 2026 and back on 18 January 2026.
Due to a power outage at Schiphol Airport on 8 January, we were unable to check in on time. We immediately reported this disruption to Vietnam Airlines and requested that they protect our tickets and rebook us on the next available alternative flight, invoking our rights under EU Regulation 261/2004, which describes the duty of care of the operating airline. Vietnam Airlines did not arrange anything for us that day, despite several telephone and written requests to do so, thereby violating its duty of care. We ultimately had to purchase new one-way tickets to get to Vietnam.
But Vietnam Airlines made matters worse by unfairly and incorrectly classifying us as no-shows a few days later, even though they were aware of our situation, which meant that our return journey would also be cancelled. So in the end, we had to buy new one-way tickets for the return journey!
From the moment the disruption occurred, Vietnam Airlines provided us with very poor assistance: Vietnam Airlines (i) failed to help us, (ii) repeatedly referred us to other parties or other counters within Vietnam Airlines without justification, (iii) did not provide a substantive response to our emails or responded too late, and (iv) sporadically communicated factual inaccuracies to us (such as that a flight had been cancelled?!).
We have suffered considerable damage as a result of the actions or omissions of Vietnam Airlines and have therefore sent them a Liability Notice including an amicable settlement proposal, but again there was no timely, substantive response (only another referral to a partner).
Vietnam Airlines has continuously stalled in this case in the hope that we would drop our justified claim. We are very disappointed in Vietnam Airlines' service and are currently preparing a lawsuit against Vietnam Airlines, the results of which we will also publish on this platform so that other passengers are aware of their rights in such cases and operating airline carriers comply with their duty of care under EU261/2004 and other contractual obligations.

Smooth flights

Took a total of 6 flights. All but one left on time and arrived early or on time. One flight delayed by increased traffic due to New Year arrivals. Staff excellent, women in beautiful traditional dress. Free soft drinks. Communication from pilot was limited and difficult to hear.
