Routinely book you on oversold flights
Reserved two flights. Both oversold. Got bumped off twice. No money back just a worthless credit, minus tax and what is laughably called service fee.

Reply from Vietnam Airlines
Excellent business class product
Excellent business class product, transfers in Ho Chi Minh are quick and efficient and fares can be very competitive. As good as much more famous/expensive alternatives, I have never been disappointed, never had them cancel on me, lose my bags etc which is more than I can say for many other airlines.

Lost luggage compensation
My luggage did not arrive after my flight from Paris to Hanoi after a moderate flight. It took them a week to find it and send it to the place where I was staying. They promised me compensation for the delay, but after tracing this for 4 months they keep saying they never sent the compensation.
Terrible service.
Not happy
Not happy!
Vietnam airlines charged my new wife nearly £400 to change the name for our flight to Hanoi on Sunday 11th February this year. We’ve just got married, she has a new name for goodness sake, I feel very disappointed, especially as I spent a lot of money on business class for our honeymoon.
Negligence killed dog!
Negligence. The airline killed a dog on board and denied responsibility. Who put a dog cage under piles of luggage????
I made a return booking Bangkok to…
I made a return booking Bangkok to Hanoi. As my trip was coming up I looked at my booking online.
The details I gave the airline are incorrect. Different date of birth, email address and local phone number. I'm concerned I won't be able to fly. Also, why have I been given two booking references for one return flight?
Customer services are not helpful insisting the flight was made by a Vietnamese travel agency with a Vietnamese bank card.
You couldn't make it up. I would give them zero stars. Incompetent and unprofessional.
Very unprofessional and frustrating
Very unprofessional and frustrating
The airline's customer service has left me feeling extremely dissatisfied. The entire staff appears to be in a negative mood and seems out of place in their roles. For your information, if you need to do work online, you won't be able to because this airline has no WiFi! The meal was extremely distasteful and unsatisfying. The bread is dry as well as cold. When I was on the plane, I saw someone ask for a packet of instant noodles, which influenced me to ask for the same. But, when it was finally my turn, they told me that they had run out of the item. Shortly after, I noticed that they had brought it to another passenger. Very unprofessional and frustrating. It appears once off the ground the airline shows some potential but on the ground it is still very much stuck in a communist mindset.
Beyond my Expectations Too !
I’ve had a pleasant experience with Vietnam Airlines as recently as 16th January. Flew Premium economy on VN56 LHR-HAN connecting onto VN779 HAN-MEL everything went without incident - flights left timeously, modern jets and attentive caring staff. Excellent value for money - Vietnam Airline must be doing something right as VN56 was fully booked and over sold. Connection times are too long we arrived early into HAN and were almost 5 hrs in transit with no shops open at that time within terminal. I flew on both the 787/9 and the 350/9. The 787 was more comfortable and what appeared to be more room - trays and inflight entertainment came out from the arms rest however , the 350 armrest was held together with gaffer tape. Good selection of food and drinks on both, clean interiors.
Dreadful customer service who deny their responsibilities!!
Dreadful customer service who would not take responsibility for our damaged suitcase that occurred during our return trip where we had also been transferred to Stanstead instead of Gatwick and on their budget airline AnadoluJet! Following our claim submission, they kept requesting further details and receipts but after many emails sent to and from over several weeks, the finally replied to say they would not accept the damage. I would never recommend this airline and beware anyone who uses them too!!!!
Unaddressed Costs and Neglect: Vietnam Airlines’ Failed Connection
My experience with Vietnam Airlines was disastrous and I find myself needing to warn other passengers. On October 17th, a delay of an hour and a half on our VN55 flight from Hanoi to London resulted in us missing our connection to Madrid with Iberia. The most alarming part was Vietnam Airlines' complete lack of response; there was no presence at the airport, nor any assistance via phone, chat, or email. We were left to fend for ourselves, forced to spend the night at the airport.
Despite presenting concrete evidence of our situation (boarding passes and receipts for additional expenses), Vietnam Airlines completely disregarded us, arguing that the delay did not justify our missed connection. This response ignores the reality of the events and shows a lack of empathy and responsibility towards its passengers.
I would not recommend this airline, given its inability to effectively handle adverse situations.
To this day, I have not received any compensation for the expenses incurred and they continue to give me the runaround.
Exceeded my expectations
Exceeded my expectations. Had a total of 4 flights with vietnam airlines (paris to saigon, hanoi to frankfurt, saigon to dalat, dalat to da nang) and everything was OK. Flights left more or less on time, the seats are comfy, staff is friendly, and the aircraft/flights felt safe) Also we had a name misspelled on the ticket and managed to get this corrected at the airport without paying extra. Only downside of this airline is that I think their website is not always properly functioning and does not recognize flying blue numbers.
I didn't know we'd need a visa because…
I didn't know we'd need a visa because my flight was Australia to UK via Vietnam but in Vietnam we had to transit through the domestic terminal for the internal flight from Saigon to Hanoi, which we didn't organise but was done by the airline upon booking automatically. This apparently means that we have to leave the international terminal to go to the domestic terminal. This was not spelled out for us by Vietnam Airlines when we booked the tickets and so we had to pay emergency visa rates at $500/person at check-in when we set off from Australia, just to get that visa to go from international to domestic terminal... It's organised robbery. The transit literally was 4 hours waiting in the domestic terminal. The airline never took on my suggestion to clearly warn its customers when they book flights that have a domestic component. The customer service manager was like a robot and kept saying it's our responsibility to know these things. Very angry and will never travel with them again.
Worst services ever
Worst services ever. I get to the gate 10 minutes before departure and they close it and tell me I can't board when the plane is there and is not even moving.
2 months later still waiting for my refund
Very hard to get any constructive communication out of Vietnam Airlines. Booked directly online and have been dealing directly with the "online support team" which is just going around in circles with one excuse after another. Refund confirmed to me on 4 October and I am still waiting for funds to hit my account. They do not care are not interested and just keep spinning stories as to where the refund "funds" are. It is highly frustrating the lack of concern, professionalism and support for the customer. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this issue!
Fly with no support
Ok, the problem with this airlines is the contact centre. In Vietnam using a Vietnamese sim the help-desk number simply does not work.
The emails seem to get lost, and the pricing strategy is all over the place.
Its a nightmare to say the least.
Travel at own peril
Foods on flight are amazing
Foods on flight are amazing. It makes me want to enjoy Vietnamese dishes right now
Vietnamese's national airline
Vietnamese's national airline, not so good but sadly one of the best in Vietnam :(
Vietnam Airline is national airport in…
Vietnam Airline is national airport in Vietnam. I had amazing time in here. Thanks for your services and support
Worst company ever and took 2h after…
Worst company ever and took 2h after boarding to be able to flight thats complete nonsense
Suddenly Jetstar, no disclaimer
I booked a flight, which said Vietnam airlines on the booking, and had their logo on it. Nowhere did it say, that another airline would operate this flight.
Once I got to the airport, I discovered that the flight was operated by Jetstar. Oh boy.
Worst checkin experience of my life. Most chaos I have ever witnessed. Counters randomly opening and closing, multiple lanes of people converging for a single checkin counter.
People randomly making extra lanes, not moving forward at all. It too 2 hours for what usually takes 10-30 minutes.
Then yet queuing again for minutes at the passport check and security for what feels like an eternity because there are on 45 minutes left until takeoff after receiving the ticket.
All in all one of my worst experiences. Shame on Vietnam airlines for cooperating with such a poor airline without disclosing this information.
