Highly satisfactory

My journey with Viking Lines aboard the ferry Viking Glory was exceptionally positive. The vessel is of a high standard, characterized by cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and comfortable accommodations. The cabins were particularly well-appointed, and the overall environment conveyed a strong sense of quality and care. The staff were consistently professional, courteous, and highly service-minded, contributing significantly to the experience. The ferry is notably dog-friendly, offering designated areas for pet relief and exercise, as well as permitting dogs in certain dining areas. The voyage itself was visually striking, providing a scenic and enjoyable journey. In addition, the pricing was reasonable relative to the quality offered. I can strongly recommend this service.

No Personal Assistance and unfriendly staff

All staff smiling and friendly the night before. I had a very bad night with dreadful pain, I’m 77 years old and have had a bad parachuting accident. I went to where the man on the desk was smiling and friendly the night before and found a non-smiling women who told me passenger assistance had to be booked in advance. I told her I wasnt in pain the night before and didn't think I could manage my suitcase. I was told to go to deck 6 and find security, there was no one on deck 6. I went back to the desk on deck 9 twice more, once more to woman who woudnt help and then smiling man from last night who was now completley non smiling now, still no help. By the time I went back to my cabin on deck 5 the place was overrun with yellow t shirted cleaners who seemed not to care if they knocked me down and walked over the top of me, such was their haste. This is my 3rd trip with this company I will not travel with them again

Fun short cruise

The ferry ride was smooth, and I really enjoyed the buffet. The entertainment onboard made the trip enjoyable.

My 1 year old child, pregnant wife and I were left in an unknown city with nowhere to go

We were booked on a night ferry from Stockholm. Major delays on our trains throughout the day meant we arrived at the terminal 3 minutes late. We were met by a smirking security guard whose only response was to point at the sign on the door showing the opening times, then to walk away. We could see people were still boarding the ferry on the walkways, but we were abandoned outside the terminal. My 1 year old child, pregnant wife and I were left in an unknown city, with nowhere to go late in the evening. Complete lack of care or empathy for customers. Avoid at all costs. Finnlines from Kapellskär is a much better alternative.

The Helsinki-Tallinn night booking felt like concentration camp experience

We booked a trip with Viking Line with the understanding that it would be a cruise — the kind where passengers enjoy both the destination and the ship at a relaxed pace. Only once onboard did it become apparent that the ship operates more like a night shuttle, going back and forth between the ports. This arrangement eliminates any chance of experiencing Tallinn by night and imposes an unexpectedly rigid schedule, including mandatory cabin evacuation by 5:45 am. While this technically must be disclosed somewhere, the information is not presented in a clear manner.

What was truly shocking, however, was an incident at approximately 1 am, when one of our cabins was invaded by staff. They woke up my friends, offered a brief apology, and exited; leaving behind a mix of confusion, anxiety and the growing suspicion that anything might happen at any hour. Understandably, sleep did not return after this intrusion, until the official wake-up at 5:30 am.

While occasional operational mishaps are inevitable, the combination of unclear scheduling, early-morning eviction procedures, and a literal midnight raid, made the overall experience feel less like a vacation and more like a concentration camp.

After explaining the situation to the feedback team, they refused to review the security camera footage, despite my polite request. Instead, they offered the baffling response that they had “asked the staff” — a phrase so vague it could mean anything from consulting a manager to casually mentioning it to one of the hundreds of employees wandering the ship. Even if they accidentally asked the exact individual involved (highly unlikely), there is, of course, no mechanism to verify whether that person is telling the truth. They also recommended as a solution to that particular problem that “the customer should contact the staff to solve the issue directly on board” (!). Like, pre-emptively asking a hundred people to not barge into your cabin and ruin what little sleep remains would require time travel — a service, unfortunately, not included in the ticket price.

Having previously traveled with Tallink — an equally affordable but genuine cruise experience (albeit on the longer Stockholm route, making direct comparison unfair) — the Viking Line ships operating on the Helsinki–Tallinn route come across more as “large ferry boats” than cruise ships (which they identify as). Aside from catering to those interested in purchasing in large quantities cheaper tobacco and ethanol-based beverages in Estonia, the experience offers little for anyone genuinely hoping to enjoy themselves.

Lousy buffet with little choice of not so fresh food

Just Traveled on Viking Gabriella from Tallinn to Helsinki. I had ordered meals for us in The Buffet, because I had read the menu beforehand and it sounded good with lots of things to choose from. In reality there was not many things in the buffet table, and for example the salads looked like they had stood there all day. There were basically raw fish, old salads and ice cream, not even smoked salmon or chocolate mousse that they promised in the menu. The person behind the counter said that this is a mini buffet, there are no such foods! Well, it did not say mini buffet on the website. I told my experiences directly to Viking Line and got an automatic answer that they don't answer personally to anyone! Talk about customer service...

NOT to be trusted!!!

They sold us tickets from Tallinn to Helsinki, and 15 minutes later I received a text saying that our trip was cancelled due to bad weather and that we could rescedule our trip or ask for a refund. Due to lack of time we decided to ask for a refund, which we did at least 2 hours before the original departure time, at their desk at the port of Tallinn. The lady working there told us that it might take up to 2 weeks to get our refund in my card, but it's been over a month and I've seen nothing

Awesome

Awesome! Took a summe cruise from Turku to Stockholm without the possibility to get on land in the Stockholm side. Still it was beautiful sea trip with fantastic archipelago views, excellent food and tax-free shopping all with excellent, friendly and customer oriented service. Recommend Viking Line! Also Covid-19 extra care was handled well, actually the ship M/S Viking Grace is one of the places I actually saw extra cleaning in action. Many other places it is just a poster/note to say they do it but they don’t but at Viking Line they really really do the extra push to keep you more safe in many ways. A la carte restaurant Oscar is amazing too!!!!
