For Germans only

Vimpay micro Mastercard comes with 0Euros. To register at their app you must have a German phone number. To top-up account you must have a German bank account or have to pay verification fee 10Euros. They rejected my non German phone bill as proof of address. Waste of time and money... just get n26...

Hey, we're sorry to hear that the VIMpay app is not available for you.
Unfortunately, our app requires a German or Austrian mobile phone number for registration.
We are already working on the possibility of allowing mobile phone numbers from other countries in the future.
Thank you for your feedback!

Worse verification app

I have no idea what this app is supposed to do and why it actually exists. It makes every little process harder for the user and in most of the cases I cannot even set it up and cannot use vouchers, cards, etc. Really but really a bad experience. Hope nobody has to use this app.

Good idea but poor implementation

Pros: virtual card, Garmin Pay. Funds are separated between main account & other (e.g. Garmin Pay).

Cons:
0. Might be not fully GDPR compliant: after trying to register a new account after having one in the past (but deleted), the system recognized (!) me but did stuck with further registration/login. Support helped with the issue promptly but that feels weird actually.
1. The balance is loaded through SEPA with a significant delay. I understand that is a limitation of SEPA itself but there is 2021 and fast SEPA already works in some banks.
2. Not all banks are supported for prompt money transfer. So called "neo banks" are not in the list of supported ones at all. That doesn't bring a flexibility advertised.
3. Unclear "kostenpflichtig" upgrade to Basic account: first 10 EUR were charged unconditionally in non-transparent way by VimPay once they were loaded in. Isn't that too much especially when my goal was just to evaluate the service and let me to decide whether I need an upgrade?
4. Support via app chat only. I do agree with VimPay: everyone likes to type and describe their problems through small screen of the phone only instead of using email/we.
5. App's UX is weird. For example, switch to "Chat" tab in App always annoys with "Mit freunden verbiden" message. Single dismiss doesn't hide this message while using the app. There is no need to be so obtrusive.
6. Support via chat mostly helpful. But my attempt report to a tiny obvious bug in the app went unnoticed and caused just a formal reply for something else but not for my original message. Do you care at all?

As a summary: I like the idea of the service, that might worth the money but currently the overall impression has been ruined by the experience so far. I feel that the app and the service could be much polished & better when the developers ate "own dog food".
