Hey beautiful, it’s Shelley here, owner and founder of Vine Apparel – welcome :)

I wanted to give you a little bit of an idea of how we came about, and what we are about, so here goes.

The word fashion has always intimidated me – I’ve always felt like it meant you needed to be a skinny little model buying expensive labels and looking perfect at all times. I’ve never been a skinny little anything but I LOVE dresses (and pockets, and buttons) and I like to feel good and be comfortable at ALL times. Jeans were my nemesis.

In 2009 I was 23, wanting new clothes all the time, but couldn’t afford the prices in the shops near where I lived (or didn’t want to pay them). So, I sourced some suppliers and decided to give our local markets a go. From there came clothes parties – where people could shop in the comfort of their own homes with their friends whilst I chatted and ate food, and it grew from there.

It seems like a lifetime ago now – I was doing 7 markets per month and 4-5 clothes parties a week, I can honestly say I absolutely slogged it. I hired a girlfriend to help 1 day a week, which turned into 7 days per week, and it goes on. I’ll put some photos below of how we started so you can see how hilarious it was. It blows my mind that it still works, and I continue to learn and make mistakes every single day.

What does Vine Apparel stand for?

Vine Apparel to me is about making it easy. Effortless. Taking the thinking out of getting dressed. We are reliable, in that you will always have something to wear, and that something will look good every single time you put it on. You know how something can look good one day but the next day you have no idea how on earth you wore it the day before? That doesn’t happen with our stuff.

We want choosing what to wear to be one less thing you need to think about.

You can rely on it. You don’t need to be skinny. Or tall. You can be you, and you can look beautiful, and you can feel beautiful, regardless of what’s going on in your world.

And we are affordable. Always. You can treat yourself and still pay your bills. Buy your kids (and yourself of course) an ice cream at the beach. You can still do life.

What are my favourite things about Vine Apparel?

Our customers, our community. I love that people come back! Honestly I do, both in store and online. I love that people know what they’re getting, that people come in to our stores knowing they’ll find something, they won’t have a shopping hangover after, and they will actually wear every single thing they buy from us, often.

And they are honestly the nicest people in the world. Feedback we get all the time is amazing, and my absolute favourite part is that they are real. Not all photo-shopped supermodels who could look good in a paper bag, they are real people.

Mums who are always on the go. 20 something year olds going to gigs or festivals, someone looking for a dress to wear to a wedding, someone, anyone – looking for something they can just throw on on those “I have nothing to wear” days.

I love that our range is so versatile, and so many things are people’s “go to” when they are in a rush, or have something on. And EVERYTHING IS COMFORTABLE!

I love my staff, I love them. I have the best humans in the entire world working with me, and I love every single day. My husband works with us now too, my children are a part of it, it’s just the absolute best.

I just love it, I do. And I especially love having people try things on which would usually be outside of their comfort zone, but they do, and they end up loving it. I think that’s my ultimate. And I love that I can be me, my very own dorky ridiculous self pretty much always wearing my thongs, and people can relate to it.

This is why our aim is not just to sell you clothes – we genuinely want you to get dressed, look in the mirror and smile.

Change

Great choice and excellent service. Everything met my expectations. After a medical incident my whole body form changed. After a life time of being slim and trim, ex-dancer and ice-skater, the gaining of 7 kilos plus was a shock. My whole wardrobe needed to change. Vine Apparel helped with both the choice and the price. I cannot thank you enough for helping me through a very difficult time in my life.

Returns policy is crap

Returns policy is crap, have to pay $8.95 to return and then buy satchel to put it in (couldn’t use the bag it came in as I ripped it open). You don’t get the full amount for the garment back, which I don’t understand at all & they only do store credit.
Shorts look like they were from Shein and were $59.
Have used this company before, but disheartened by this purchase

Exceptional Service

I recently placed an order with Vine Apparel, and unfortunately, the package was lost due to a failure on Australia Post’s part. Despite having no control over the situation, Vine Apparel went above and beyond to resolve the issue, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Showing the Love

Ok Vine Apparel

I officially LOVE you guys!!
Have often seen your Facebook ads love the clothes but never went out of my comfort zone and ordered .. the other day I was.. be brave! once I sussed you were a legit sight (overly cautious been burnt before) I ordered a top and pair of jeans .. the sizes were perfect!!
I have for a long time not treated myself because when I did I was often left disappointed and feeling more than crap about myself.
I tried the shirt on first loved it light and pretty .. not the usual hide my body stuff I go for & not black! .. then I looked at the pants and thought... mm you haven't had a good day at work this may not end well there may be tears .. they at first looked small .. pulled them up comfortable, perfect fit (your size guides are so accurate) and they look great!! NO TEARS!!

Thank You for making me smile in the mirror that happens rarely these days!!

I will be buying again real soon!!

I’ve just finished work for the day..exhausted, and I’ve
just put on my new comfy pj’s (they really are beautiful) and
sitting on the lounge looking up dresses on your website thinking
to myself “gosh everything I’ve ever purchased off you has been
so amazing and such a surprise with the fit and make! I then
thought to myself, I must tell them how happy I’ve been - that

I’ve been buying from Vine Apparel for a few years now. Everything I ordered has been to my satisfaction and even when I ordered something that didn’t end up suiting me there was no issue in returning it. I sincerely like their clothes, also find the sizes generous so something to keep in mind. Highly recommend!

Unethical and unscrupulous business

The most disgusting and unethical business I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Incredibly cheap poor quality substandard garments coupled with the most unprofessional, dishonest and entitled customer service. But the main issue with this business is the unethical, unscrupulous and incompetent way they choose to conduct their business. From the extreme lack of quality control and customer service to the appalling shipping terms and returns!!….
Firstly, when paying “standard shipping” they say it will take 3-5 days to “process” the order before dispatching from their warehouse. However, if you upgrade to “express shipping” they will “process” the order and dispatch from their warehouse the same day.
When calling them out on this and stating this has nothing to do with the actual Australia Post “shipping” times but instead of their incompetence in processing an order with alacrity (unless paying extra for “express shipping”) I was met with denial, dishonesty and belligerence.
Secondly, I have placed 7 orders over a period of 3 years totalling 23 items. Out of 23 items only 8 items have been wearable.
If the items haven’t been faulty then they have been of incredibly poor substandard configuration and composition and have needed to be returned, OR their unethical business practices have necessitated me to cancel the order. Then you have to wait for an unreasonable lengthy duration for a refund to become available to you.
Thirdly, not only do you have to wait up to 2 weeks to receive your order (if you don’t pay “express shipping”!!.. more like “same day processing and dispatch”) then you have to pay to return their inferior garments at your own cost!! Not to mention the 10% handling fee they have the audacity to charge on top!!
I will never purchase from this unethical business ever again and encourage others to do the same. We all need to support businesses that we can trust with quality merchandise and professional customer service of which this business is most severely lacking.

We’re sorry to hear you’re so unhappy with us, we really haven’t intended for you to take our processes and the way we do things so badly, so please let us respond to your comments so we can explain how they work and what we mean.

You said “An extreme lack of quality control” – I’m not sure what you mean here, but we have one person entirely dedicated to checking our stock as it arrives, checking measurements are correct, fabric is correct, and the colours and prints are what we have ordered, so we catch most things before they go out to our customers. Unfortunately as we don’t do our own manufacturing, sometimes mistakes happen – and when we do, we rectify them as best we can.

With standard shipping vs express shipping – how this works, is standard shipping means orders are sent out in the order in which we receive them. Express however, is pulled to the front of the line, so is sent out as a priority – essentially skipping the line. Standard is in line, express skips the line, hence it leaving us and getting to you much faster.

Sorry to hear you have placed so many orders and had so many things which don’t work! We do try to have as much information on the product as we possibly can – from measurements which are checked by us therefore they are correct, to our description on how things fit, to photographing them and showcasing them in our live walk throughs on all different shapes and sizes. If you think we could be doing anything else here to help you get it right the first time please let us know, because we want it to be as easy as possible for this to happen. We also have customer service available on the phone, online and on socials from 9-5 Monday to Friday to help with any questions or queries.

I’m not sure why you have to wait so long for delivery, that’s really strange. We aim to dispatch within 3-5 business days, though it’s usually much faster than that, then orders are in the hands of Australia Post. We can see you are in South Australia, though I’m not sure why they take so long to get with you – perhaps you can contact Australia Post and ask them how long you should expect to receive parcels which are being dispatched from Sydney. Australia Post pick up from us twice a day, so we are doing everything we can on our end to get things out as quickly as possible.

Shopping online can be hard, we do know that – please let us know if we can help you with anything else.

Wonderful outfit

I purchased the Amelie dress for my son's wedding....it was amazing and I had so many compliments. I also wore the Sparrow poncho and the whole outfit was just perfect.

Sizing very Off & cheap material used.

Tops are way oversized & made from cheap material.

I ordered a size 14 as I’m usually a size 12 - 14.
Unless I’ve got a measuring tape TBH I will go by the sizes given.

In the description it states that “ model” is wearing a size 8, but the next size up fm small medium is obviously a medium large.

The size 14 was very large, I would call a size 16 / 18.
So I can’t wear them.

You will receive a generic response “ sizing and product information as we can”.

I risked another order & went for the small / medium size.
This was yet another  oversized top. This order was about a size 14 - 16. I will be giving it to charity as the item is again, far too big. 

I have unsubscribed from Vine Apparel & will not be buying from there again.

A lot of my money wasted.

Denim skirt received in worn condition

My Mother-in-law purchased a denim skirt for me which I received in worn condition. The lining of both pockets was heavily pilled, the inside of the skirt had wear marks and a label on the belt was faded and literally hanging on by a thread.
Apparently this is the quality they are happy with as they did not deem this ‘faulty by manufacture’. Instead the reasoning was because they wash the skirt first to give it a ‘worn’ look, and therefore these defects were acceptable to them.
We were given the option to return it- however we would need to pay the return postage as well as the restocking fee. WOW. I'm left to pay for a skirt that is not as advertised (nowhere on the page did it say the skirt was a ‘worn’ look) and this is what to expect.
If this is what they deem as acceptable condition for their clothing, maybe they need to advertise the fact: ‘be aware our clothing will include pre-worn, pre-pilled material and unreadable damaged tags’!

Full of lies

This is theft ! Size are for small women ! . They do not measure anything as they claim . Size 12 has bust size 36 inches !!! Seriously for westerners it should be 40 inches ! Buyer B eaware DO NOT buy. ! Its a scam .

Unfair return policy on inferior product

In the past I have been happy with my few purchases from Vine apparel but the last blouse I recently bought was of inferior quality. I dislike not being able to view customer reviews on each item before purchasing. Vine apparel don’t have this option available unlike many of their competitors. They only have overall testimonials which of course are not surprisingly positive. However, the thing that really annoys me is their refund policy. Through no fault of my own I get a blouse made of inferior grade material. Not only did I pay delivery fee, which is fair, I’m then charged to return it; furthermore there is a 10% handling fee.
WHERE IS MY COMPENSATION FOR HANDLING FEE?
I’ve done as much running around as them. I’m about $20.00 out of pocket for their inferior product.
I know they defend themselves by claiming that it keeps prices down which it may well do, but personally I’d rather pay a bit more and have greater confidence in buying knowing I can return it without losing 30% of my original purchase price. I won’t be risking a purchase with them again. Can’t afford to.

Disappointing customer service

I usually like their product quality but this time I was disappointed in quality and in their customer service. Suede jacket looked nice online but once received, I could not remove the creases at all with a steamer or iron. Although a final sale item, it was not fit for purpose and unwearable. I had to pay the shipping fee to send it back and was deducted a handling fee off my refund. Yes it’s in their return policy but this wasn’t charge of mind, this was a product of poor quality & not fit for purpose.

Faulty items must be faulty by manufacture. This includes open seams, broken zippers or buttons and puckering.
